Magician and comedian Nick Paul is teaming up with a furry sidekick to take on the legendary duo, Penn and Teller. 🐶✨

I know how this trick was done. There were 98 dogs off stage dressed as various animals, plus one dressed as himself, and the assistant chose the appropriate one. Such a fun trick! 🙂
This is the best incorrect explanation ever. :)
Maybe he had different ways of unfolding that initial dog prediction?
I know, I thought "he's taking his time..." when he fidgeted around with that initial small dog picture. I'm sure it _somehow_ can show different pictures of the dog in various costumes on the back.
He just has to pick the right one and unfold it. The assistant backstage has enough time to dress the dog appropriately after Alison has named the animal. You don't need that many dogs backstage. Just that many costumes.
@@chanceneck8072 Good thinking, but I was 100% kidding. 🙂The actual method to the trick is something completely different.
@@FlatEarthMath Yeah, I figured you were joking with the 98 dogs. 😅
@@FlatEarthMath You say COMPLETELY different? But we already established, that it was no force....
Hmmmm...... 🤔
Maybe it has something to do with the phone then.... with the App or the order in which the animals are listed... that whole thing seemed so shady and custom made to me from the get go.......
Alyson was the most real, sincere, genuine host of ANY entertainment show. She actually CARED about the magicians and their feelings. She WANTED them to succeed. When she smiled and cheered she was being REAL.
They can get all the super models they want to host Fool Us, none will match what Alyson brought to the show.
I love the fact that Nick went into this show knowing he probably wouldn’t fool Penn and Teller and still gave one of the most audience-favorite performances on the show. Allison was even adored the trick (and dog)!
Thanks man!
But wait?!? Where's the audience? I hear them, but there's a few camera shots showing only empty seats. I loved the trick too. Great job, Nick!
That was very entertaining. I guess your dog wore a lobster suit because there’s a claws in his contract.
Boom!
Multi fold sheet? Not sure how the name is a force or the number passing it though phone is easy so is costume (he was sooo cute) but the paper..... Magic fold type stuff
@@jerethgryphon4244 No multiple folds ;) No multiple pictures
@@jerethgryphon4244 There is one picture. Everyone ends up guessing Lobster. That's what mentalists acts do. They make you believe you have free will to randomly select any answer, but the answer is always Lobster. The name, though, was random.
@@jerethgryphon4244 - Remember, he does have iCloud. Maybe one of his non-canine accomplices also has access to his iCloud. That should help you figure out how the choice wasn't a choice.
Nobody :
Penn : FORCE
Yea Im not actually sure how a force could be used in this trick
@@TheGreatShortdini He didn't reveal immediately what he was gonna do with the numbers given by penn & teller, maybe he would have asked penn something other than "give me another single digit number" if he didn't get 7 from teller. idk
Fooler or not, this was a fun and entertaining act! And any act with a dog assistant is an automatic A+!
Thanks Jay!
Love this! I have been lucky enough to book Nick for multiple shows and he always brings his A game! I don't want to name drop but I have also met George multiple times.
Thank you buddy. You said this exactly like I told you to.
One thing that kinda stood out for me was that lobster was spelled with a capital L while none of the other animals were. I'm by no means in on the method but in my head I've figured it out (like probably 99% of the keyboard magicians here :D)
Yep, that's what happens when your assistant types it in at a distance with the auto capitalize setting on. The magic is all in icloud.
When he scrolls through the list initially, you can see that 77 was actually "rooster" and the item is changed when Alison scrolls down.
@@Okinawatrip ohhhhh that makes so much sense lmao
@@Okinawatrip it's so geniously simple
@@moritz584 He evens gives it away "I have iCloud so I can get another phone".
“So I have your dog, and your phone...” that chemistry Alison creates 🙂 Nice trick, creative, miles from the usual boring card tricks.
Thank you!
I am not sure how to feel about this trick. The biggest reveal was not even mentioned by Nick.
Of course the list of animals was edited remotely by the assistant to have Lobster on the selected spot (I've even noticed on the first view, that lobster was with capital L, unlike the other words, a bit of oversight from the person editing it (and maybe the autocorrect adding capital letter for new items))...
It looked like this was supposed to be the great reveal (the poster and the dog in the costume) but that was the easy part from my point of view.
Upon watching the video again, I noticed that at 6:05 the fortune in the treat says that "George says..." and George was the name chosen by Alyson.
How did he get the name in there? And i think this reveal should have made it clear "oh, the fortune has the name that Alyson chose" because I completely missed that the first time, I was focusing in the puns
(edited some typos)
Agreed. The lobster force was pretty easy to do and should be obvious to most people. I’m generally not a big fan of smartphones or computers being used like this in a trick. Everyone knows how easily they can be manipulated from behind the stage. It takes the magic away
Good point!
@@NickPaulMagic the edit did not help as well, showing the roaster at 77 earlier. And the George name was also easy, by printing the paper and adding to the treat at backstage. Sorry, but this is a very simple trick. The presentation was good, but the magic was too basic.
@@RICARDOABECH I'll try harder to impress you next time Ricardo. Have a nice day.
@@NickPaulMagic sorry not trying to be rude, saw other videos from you with better and more impressive magic. Just pointing that maybe the choice of tricks were not ideal specially for experienced magicians like P&T
Love your sense of humour and the originality with which you present your routine.
Yay, thank you!
Love how he even mentions iCloud in the questions after the trick :3
whoops.
What a lovely feel to your act Nick. Congratulations on your work! I really enjoyed it.
Thanks Sarah!
Absolutely awesome Nick. It was great seeing how far you have come. The real magic in what you do is all the smiles and joy you bring to anyone who gets to see you on stage. I am beyond happy to see you constantly being out there bringing laughs with magic and perfect showmanship that you don’t see much anymore. Abracadabra my friend.
Thank you buddy! Miss you!!
Loved it. You have such a warm and witty delivery. Well done Nick x

It would have been even more amazing if Alyson had just seen Top Gun and named it Rooster. Because nothing’s cooler than a flying dog in a lobster costume.

Thanks so much!!
@@NickPaulMagic was asking if the dog was forced to be there a genuine question or code

I'm trying to think of a clever way to let you know that I know without spoiling it to anyone else. I wish I could get other people to edit my own comment so that they could help me put the right words in the right places, but I guess I'm on my own on this one.
What a splendid performance. Even if some of it wasn't super flashy, it was pleasant to watch, you have a great demeanor and are very personable.

Very charming trick! I definitely need to see your act some day.

Known him and watched his magic 4 yrs now, he always brought a magical touch to his performances, always fun to watch
thank you!
Great act! Fun and creative.
Love acts that don't use force.
Even though I feel I know most of the trick, they added a few mini tricks that I'm unsure how he did them.
This was such a cute trick! It really took us on a journey, recalling all those different animals. I bet George would look adorable in any costume, and your assistant has a heck of a time picking them all out. I don't think you fooled me, but this was an adorable trick with an adorable canine assistant, so I don't care. Well done!
Thank you!
There was a similar trick done by a college student a few years back that involved her guessing what song Allison chose off her phone's playlist. Penn & Teller were fooled by it. They were then schooled by their fans! This one was a tad bit more clever (and really wonderfully presented with the extra fortune bit at the end), but I'm not sure you can get even this more complex variation past P&T at this point. Would love to see Nick Paul live! Great fun!
Thank you! That trick was the inspiration for this method we came up with. They got smart!
This is awesome!! Major kudos to you for living your dream. I’m so in awe of people I know from high school doing amazing things like this! I remember when you were doing magic tricks at graduation parties and when you had a show at Disney. Keep striving for greatness and “break a fin”!! 😁
Thank you Kristina! Hope you and the fam are doing well!
Still need to come to a show during my world travels. Currently in Portugal. Loved the act. Penny the lobster was great
Thank you! I’ll be passing by there on a cruise ship soon!
Going back to Denver sorry :(

It's honestly rare at this point for me to be so in love with a trick that I don't even care how it's done or whether I was "fooled". Such a great act. :)
thank you buddy! means a lot!
I have lived in Shelby Township, New Baltimore, Detroit, grosse Pointe Park and now Wyandotte. Hell yeah, dude. Last October would have been my 9th anniversary, but unfortunately, my wife passed away exactly two weeks before. Congratulations on 8 years, wish you many more
So sorry to hear buddy. Thanks for the kind words. Sending you happy thoughts!
@@NickPaulMagic Thanks, man. Fuck cancer!
What a fun trick! I liked that it went on a bit longer than I thought it would, past the photo of the dog in the lobster out fit... and even past the dog in the lobster outfit. I also liked that all the options except the "treats" were "poop." That is infantile and I am infantile, so it was perfect.
Thank you!
I really liked this performance, your dog, and your book. Working with animals, especially a dachshund (?), is a pain, so props on that.
The pupper is the actual magician. His trick was to get pets & treats well looking fabulous! Teller seemed to be the only one to realize this, thus his jelousy
I agree. Rascal (George) gets all the pets and treats.
@@NickPaulMagic please please come back on the shit with lobster George and do a trick where you force a choice o teller and it's a lobster costume for him as a gift.
lmao I love how Alyson got so comfortable with the pup she kissed him hahahaha

A love the Lobster list and, man, having an accomplice, especially someone named George, is a real treat.

Awesome. May the magic stay with you! ;)

Thanks Haris!
So, you admit that it was a trick
@@virtualpilgrim8645 it's always a trick. This isn't voodoo. It's entertainment.
I was thinking maybe it was a fake notepad app. Only like 10 were visible at the start, so he could just have 10 possibilities, and then if they chose a number bigger than 10, his assistant could remotely change the app so that the number they chose was lobster?

I already love Alyson Hannigan but she's a dog person and so am I so I love her even more. As for Nick Paul, it felt clear to me from the get go he was not there to fool Penn & Teller or to get the silly trophy. He loves entertaining. Very nice and funny routine, but next time please tell your accomplice to be careful with the letter casing 😆
It was a pleasure to see Alison in this episode. A single thing I still didn't get is how the name George was inside the treat. When I watched the first time, I thought Nick's wife secretly brought it, but it's not the case. That exact treat was clearly outstanding from the others, btw.
It's the same base principle as the other trick. You have to figure out the rest by yourself.
@@FilmscoreMetaler your comment didn't give me any hint anyway)
@@amegatron07 The bag might have had less treats in it when the routine started. It's all in the video, you just have to watch closely. I'm not going to be more specific, sorry.
this was my thought too at first. i dont think she drops it off but it looks like his arm dips behind her at one point and also into the hood of the lobster costume at another both easy places to stash something being brought out.
I have no idea what Penn and Teller was saying, but how the deuce did the fortune know George's name! What a wholesome act. Loved it :)
thank you!
Haha Alyson 😂❤
She is the best!
That was one shell of a trick 🦞
Whenever there’s predictions involved there’s always some reason for bringing something onto the stage, ie a table, an envelope, a dog in a lobster suit.
it's almost always lobster dog tho
Lol. I've decided I want a t-shirt that says 'ie a table, an envelope, a dog in a lobster suit.' With zero context.
Piff the Magic Dragon had Mr. Piffles.
Great trick but small word of advice. Lobster being the only animal with a capitalized first letter on a list of 99 animals screams look at me. Still, can never go wrong with a doggo.
Yes, that's sloppy work. He should have talked with his accomplice about that. I mean she really just had to paste "lobster" in the online-document thats being automatically updated. Getting even this wrong, is kinda magical. Also before at 2.01 everyone can clearly see 77 was rooster before.
@DJkirakira suure. and if you ever come back from your pony-ranch trip, then welcome back to the real world.
@DJkirakira It really doesn't matter because that's electronics , and it could be done by like 5 different methods with different variations of it. It's pointless anyway, because as a programmer, I know that there's a potential to exploit in many ways and it and it doesn't really matter how you do it. It can be easily done. To the point, if you really wanted , you could also hack someones phone too on the spot. Electronic devices really speak no magic to me because they can be manipulated in many ways, and it just speaks as cheap to me.
What a great act!
thank you!
Those puns were pawful. 😂
I agree.
I liked the trick. You fooled me.
I bet it was cool having a Dad as a ventriloquist, with a friend that was a clown and magician.

Peter Griffin: dog Lobster!
classic
If the magic didn't fool me it wasn't ever going to fool P&T, but the comedy delivery and timing was fantastic, I was still entertained throughout. I'd rather watch that than yet another ball-and-cup routine that might have some clever technical innovation but to ME looks identical to every other one I've seen before.

I think I figured out the Treat vs Poop bag trick
What kinda gave it away that something was up was that Lobster had a capital L when all the other animals were 100% lowercase letters. Not sure how it was done but I got some of it
Amazing! This was so much fun!
Thank you Barbra!
Wonderful performance. The coded messages in Penn's explanation hints at LOADS of different steps for this performance to come together. Fooled or not that was still greatly entertaining
thank you buddy!
Great trick - one question: why is nr.77 Lobster spelled with a capital L?
thank you! I don't know!
Thanks for the adorable dog.
The trick fooled me.
Thanks!
Hilarious!!!! I've had the good fortune of seeing Nick live a few times. He's absolutely fantastic. Brilliant performer.
thank you buddy!
For those who figured it out: did you get it after watching it ONCE like P&T did? I know I had to rewatch it to see how it was done.
Yay! Congrats Nick! (And Kristen! And Rascal-George!)
Thank you buddy!
I'm half way in but i already love how you put humour/prop/dog into your trick!
Thank you Hailey!
With technology as easy to manipulate as it is, I think the most impressive part of this trick was the reveal of the name George by the “fortune treat”! Very clever that both P&T had to each come up with a number, insuring that 1-10 could not be used.
Still a tremendously entertaining trick! Well done Nick!
Would have been less obvious if the word "lobster" wasn't the only one in the list that was capitalized.
@@edmg7 yep, 2:01 shows number 77 still as rooster ;-) for me the most impressive part is having the name George on the cookie tbh. Very nice trick!
@@edmg7 she also said the animal above and below it, thereby making it clear to someone who memorized the list which animal was chosen. And there's a chance that was a ladybug costume and not a dog at all!
@@JayTie1 I did spot it. But, and I'm sure there's a simple answer to this, how DOES it change from a rooster to Lobster once it's out of his hands?
@@MawileMagemy guess is that someone else with an iPhone is listening for which number and quickly changes it off stage. iPhones can have shared notes with people where both iPhones can edit the contents and it automatically updates on the other persons phone.
I assume “forced“ was one of the key words, unless I assume “lobster“ was forced… I mean it would have to be… I don’t think the folded up picture could have been changed on the fly, depending on her selection… But how the heck could it have been forced when Penn and teller both got to choose their own numbers and it looks like the iCloud note was not changed… Unless someone else had access to your iCloud and could edit the note in on the fly before she scrolled down? But what would happen if they chose a two digit number that was already on screen?!
This is why I still love shows like this… I can get maybe possibly an idea of how things were done, but I don’t really know and not knowing even though I have some idea of how things are done, makes it even more amazing and entertaining!
Capital L might have given it away. My guess the key word was "accomplice".
He scrolls up the list and asks for a 2 digit number. You cant see the rest of the list. You then only need a voice activated app that puts lobster at any number you're saying.
Nick, wow, man. Props to Penn and Teller because I have no CLUE how you did that! I was originally thinking, okay... there was maybe some technology whereby the list on the phone would dynamically renumber the list so that whatever the selected number was, then that would be the lobster. BUT, I don't think that's how you did it, because it looked to me like the list was in alphabetical order! That would make changing the list just about impossible. See this face? ==> (ʘ_ʘ) That's me after your stunning trick! The fact that P&T figured it out says a lot about their powers of observation, but you fooled probably everyone else! In any case, you are awesome! All good wishes.
wasn't 77 a rooster ?
You're on the right track, but it's slightly simpler than that. The list is not in alphabetical order, but Notes is sync'd to iCloud and can be edited from another device on the same account. One minor detail that several others here noticed: although the rest of the animals in the list are all lower-case, Lobster is capitalized, which was probably the default behavior when the accomplice edited the list - easy to fix, either by capitalizing the rest of the list to match, or by tapping Shift to deselect the first letter capitalization while editing. But Alyson probably didn't notice that detail.
thank you buddy!
@@grnphroggywasn't there a risk that if P&T had provided a number in the range 10-18 that Alyson would have noticed the update? She was already staring at 1-18 on the phone.
