I'm confused. Lycoming SI 1011N specifically states "DO NOT USE A MAGNET TO REMOVE THE PLUNGER BECAUSE THE CHECK
VALVE BALL COULD BECOME MAGNETIZED WHICH WOULD MAKE THE PLUNGER NOT OPERATE" Have you found this not to be a concern?

No I have never had one become magnetized. I guess it could happen.
What does that section recommend to remove the lifters?

I found it.
It recommends using a tappet tool (64941) with a clump of heavy grease on it.
