- Braleigh lives with a syndrome so rare, they named it after her. She is the only person in the world ever known to have this genetic disorder, but all she wants to do is laugh with friends and pet her dog.

Chris, my daughter has left college and become a para pro in a low income special needs class with older elementary students and is so in love with her work. I am so very thankful to you for teaching me over the years how to approach, not be afraid, and understand the people you advocate for. It allows me to be able to connect with my daughter in a way I would never have been able to otherwise. Your work is so important. Thank you
This family is BEYOND amazing. Keep doing what you’re doing. EVERY BEHAVIOR IS COMMUNICATION. THEY TELL US WHATBTHEY WANT or need. We needcto listen.

@@00zarzu00 yes, but it wasn't with force and he just moved away instead of showing any sign of aggression. Some dogs are not good to have around kids because kids do stuff like that, but he is clearly suited for a household with kids. He seems comfortable around her, and she didn't do anything that could hurt him. If a dog is truly upset by something, they will let you know. I'm sure the parents would intervene well before something like that could happen, because she's otherwise gentle with Smoky.
My dad was a special Ed teacher for 28 years. I have a special place in my heart for those who work with special needs people Thank you Chris 💚
Shoutout to him!! I remember in high school I was in a group called circle of friends wheee we get partnered with a special needs kid. My Buddy was fully disabled and I didn’t realize how much you have to invest in them. And he was just one boy! Those teachers def deserve all the praise in the world for staying patient and taking care of all the special needs kids

Such patience. I'm already getting initiated with the repetitive laughter ..imagine having a toddler and knowing that phase is never going to stop one day and finally be over. Its just going to always be like that even when she's 60.
My daughter is one of the 150 with 2q37.3 Deletion Syndrome! Thank you for sharing your story.
Could I ask you what are the problems of this syndrome? Is she mute, can she eat, walk . What is the deficit? Ty 😊
My child at 8 years old and her conditions from 2q37.3 are, seizures, autism, low muscle tone, thicken white brain matter, enlarged ventricles, lack of 4 digit knuckles in hands and feet, and low immune system. As far as her day to day life and how all those effect her, she is in a wheelchair, non-verbal, she eats via g-tube. She is also very musically gifted, has many songs memorized and hums the song to communicate. In the morning when she wants to get out of bed she'll hum "are you sleeping, are you sleeping, brother John..." for asking for affection she will hum "and a great big hug and a kiss from me to you, won't you say you love me too?". She's a sweet, happy girl! And if you Google 2q37.3 they all have a typical look in their faces, my girl falls in line with the common face features.

Chris I’m always amazed at how you instantly connect and interact with the kids. Watching you and Braleigh copying each other and communicating in that way was such a delight! I also love how while conducting these interviews you always focus on the person and their personalities as opposed to their diagnosis.

Her sister is so kind and patient with her for example when she took off her glasses twice she didn’t even bat an eye. I am so impressed by her wow . ❤
She actually seems to understand what you guys are talking about, and wanting to understand and be a part of the normal conversation. Seems she also responds, but nobody reacts when she is pointing - it's like she is asking, I mean, and nobody telling her what it is, and what you are doing. Her sister is just the sweetest sister 💖💖💖

Right? I have a rare condition that only 1 in 20,000 have, and I often feel like the only one. I can’t even begin to imagine how Braleigh and her parents feel!

Really admire her parents, they see her as a blessing and not a burden and her sister standing up for her, so sweet!!!
It's not like they really have much of a choice. Trying to have a positive outlook can make a negative or difficult situation more bearable and manageable.
@@blairariavanderkamp3405there is plenty of choices. They could have given her up for adoption, put her in a facility, left her at the hospital safe haven. Tha they chose not to do any of those things speaks to their humanity. They knew it would be hard and they rose to the challenge. A lot of people don't.

would have loved to learn a little more about how she’s similar and how she’s different from other kids her age :) she’s so playful and bubbly but it’s hard for me to envision what her day to day activities and functioning is like outside of school.

Почему в нашем мире слово "инвалидность" становится синонимом слову "счастье". Поймите правильно, очень важно относиться к непохожим на остальных людей с пониманием, но вам не кажется, что делать вид, будто они точно такие же как остальные - это лицемерие?
Это намеренный план-проп@ ганда верхушек мира. Но когда нен@рмальных детей-людей станет слишком много (а мы приближаемся к этому семимильными шагами), то что они будут говорить тогда. Я почти знаю, откуда это берётся, эти психические заболевания, аутизм - это не просто случайности, поменялись гены или еще что-то. Этого даже у животных сейчас много. У всего этого есть общие причины.
Посмотри на 13:30, как она на самое деле "счастлива". Лучше в замедленном режиме. Аутоагрессия.

@@diegobelash4785 То что бьет щенка - может быть не агрессией, а отставанием в развитии. Дети в год-два очень часто бьют животных, людей и предметы из любопытства. Она может и не понимать. А может Вы правы, и это именно взрослые аутоагрессия/агрессия к слабому.
Что Вы имеете ввиду под "приходить в себя" - не совсем понимаю
