Hearing the "non-graphic" description from the mom and dad was one of the most difficult things I have ever heard. The lack of graphic detail is the most graphic detail imaginable. I wish this beautiful family nothing but the best. I cried my eyes out, and will think of them often.

You ever heard the phrase "an in-group which laws protect, but do not bind and an out group which laws bind, but do not protect" ? That's our legal system in a nutshell at this time. The whole thing is set up to be "tough" on petty crime committed by "disposable" humans (minorities, homeless people, the mentally disabled), punish those who would financially harm monetary interests, and keep the workers in line and afraid.
That's why rapists and child abusers get months, a few years... or probation if they're a rich, white college boy but homeless mom Tanya McDowell got 5 years for sending her kid to the "wrong" school. Madoff got over a century and died in prison for hurting well-to-do people's wallets (yes, he also screwed over regular people, but that alone wouldn't have gotten him in trouble), while Congress is full of millionaires who built entire industries and careers on bleeding companies dry, declaring bankruptcy, and making sure that the executives walked out the door with millions while regular workers lost their houses.
Why would child abusers get massive sentences when the government doesn't even care enough about children to protect their lives by reining in the gun nuts? Or making sure that they are all fed, housed, and have health care access?

I’ve had a life threatening autoimmune disease since I was 16 which has been a struggle for a long time. I’ll be 42 this Sunday and I had to move home in 2017 when I couldn’t work. My health was rapidly declining and I was diagnosed with a third autoimmune. Some mornings my blood pressure is so low that I can’t even get out of bed to get water and take medication. Sorry to pry, but is the blood pressure thing while sleeping a common trait of autoimmune diseases? I don't have insurance to get checked, but an old doctor and several friends with various autoimmune diseases have suggested I have Crohn's but I'm older now and it's seeming more like something like Fibromyalsia.
One trait I've had since I was a young adult is my blood pressure getting so low that they even called a crash cart when I was staying at a mental health facility (for other issues), because they couldn't get a reading doing vitals at night. It tends to get below 50bpm these days, but I'm not as "dead asleep" as I usually get due to my mattress lol.
Just curious, as I'd not heard that before. Thank you for sharing. I hope you're doing better and you're right that everyone needs some self-care. I hope your mother is doing well, too. :)

Just the fact that they had indeed 5 children (3 of them adopted by this family, but they said they took care of all 5 at some point even if it was for a short period of time), all of them wounded one way or another... Like, what? I know there is no parent license but I'm seriously considering it a need; not only because jail (which sounds fair) means they've already done something maybe irreversible to a child, but because imagine them trying to surf through society as such ******* individuals.
Genes load the gun, but it is the environment and/or yourself the ones that trigger it (basic development psychology 101). So, sorry if I sound harsh, but there is NO excuse for them whatsoever.

If you died TODAY, where would you be spending eternity? Have all your sins been forgiven or are you still hoping that you're a good enough person to earn a spot in heaven.
The reality is that no one can earn a spot, our sin disqualifies us. But the God news is that Jesus paid for our qualification by dying on our behalf taking the punishment that we deserved.
JESUS said, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son; that WHOEVER believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." - John 3:16
Nothing is more important than your eternal destination. Please, don't say, "When I get older I'll get right with God' or 'I'll get serious with Jesus one day when I'm ready.'
Don't wait any longer, today is the day of salvation. Get right with God today, for tomorrow very well might be too late.
We invite you to REPENT and accept that Jesus Christ is Lord of your life by praying this simple prayer out loud right now...
'Heavenly Father, I turn away from my old life and repent for my sins. I believe that Jesus came for me, that Jesus died for me and that Jesus rose again for me so that I can be forgiven and receive eternal life. I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from this day. Through Him and in His Name, receive the gift of eternal life. I ask you to fill me with the Holy Spirit and lead me for the rest of my life. In Jesus name - Amen.

As a primary school teacher and father of a son whose first birthday I celebrated today, your video caught me off guard. I'm currently sitting here in front of my computer and preparing my lessons. My son is now lying in bed and cuddling with his mother. I know very well from my work that not all children are blessed with parents who are able to take appropriate care of their children. But such cruelty still brings tears of anger to my eyes. We have foster parents in our circle of friends and know what a big task it is to take responsibility for a traumatized child. I live in Germany and cannot make a qualified statement about whether our social network is better at supporting children or not. But I know that no system, no matter how good it is, can replace a loving family. Dear Rogers family, you are heroes.

I used to work in a Medical Examiners Office. One case that has always stuck with me is of a child who died as a result of his mother's boyfriend (not the biological father) shaking him. The trauma that little boy had was horrific. It's terrible to think this way, but I feel that his passing is a bit of a blessing. He was no longer in pain and could go on to his next life where hopefully fate was kinder to him.

I think that every parent, before they can take their child home from the hospital, should get shaken baby training. I took it as a nanny and the biggest thing I learned is you have permission to put your child in their crib, close the door, and take time to cool off. Go scream into a pillow or a sink full of water. Call a friend or a trusted neighbor. Whatever you have to do to become calmer.

True but a lot of these cases don't come from ignorance. Some people are just sick and delusional and lack empathy. I mean case in point right here, they already had a child with SBS, they knew the consequences yet did it again. Also cases of abuse like starvation /neglect. No one needs to educate a grown adult that a baby needs nutrition and/or can't be left alone while you go get high....
I agree with the premise of your comment but as this adoptive mom stated at the beginning of the video, even WITH INCREASED awareness cases are still going up... this is not a lack of education here.... it's horrible, sick people abusing poor babies with little or no concern for those babies..

Brice and his siblings seem like incredibly wonderful and intelligent children!
Whatever caused the parents to do what they did most likely stemmed from something/things that happened to them (which, what they did was horrible, and unacceptable, but just like what the mother said “get to know them and their story, and try to see if anything makes sense”). The mother also said how the father craved love, and how he was born into a family with drugs, and also had a horrible childhood. As much as we could blame him, somehow we don't know how we ourselves would have turned out if we grew up the same way he did. 21 different foster homes before 18 means that he on average never spent a single year in one family or even just institutions. This must also mean that people who willingly signed up to become his foster parents also resigned over and over.
