- My Pink fir apple potatoes are coming up this week.I'm hoping to continue the bumper potato harvest I'm getting this year with this variety.
We are heading over the big fence again via the dreaded ladder to check what progress, if any, is happening in the secret garden.
All music composed and performed by Kenny Mitchell - Zábava
5:24 now that looks amazing! I wish our potato crop looked like that this year haha. -Cara
Very pleased with the potatoes this year! And because of the hot , dry weather we’ve had very few slugs, which are our main pest. No slug holes in the potatoes for a change. I didn’t do well at all last year . That’s gardening for you....swings and roundabouts!
Hi Fiona, to use a chair to support your tomatoes 🍅 is a good idea. Your secret garden is a real adventure, just imagine that the pumkins will get really big and heavy and you have to climb up the ladder to get it over the fence 😉
Oh dear! I hadn’t thought of that😂. Lucky for me I don’t think they’re big varieties! 🤗
@@fionagrows1848 you could dig a little hole to roll them under, a tiny tunnel.😅😁👍
@@nickthegardener.1120 The whole task of retrieving any pumpkins might get delegated to Kenny I think!😂
Hi brave Fiona heavens you done it 🤘🤘🤘 see poor Kenny got the raw deal with the thistle, brilliant pink fir apple harvest . Keep safe Bill and val
I’m very happy with my potato haul this year. Best pink fir apples I’ve ever grown! Thanks for watching 🤗
Everything is looking very good 👍
Thanks for watching!
Hi Fiona, everything is looking great and you have a super crop of Pink Fir Apple Potatoes. Love the Tomatoes on the chair ! Best Wishes, Paul & Nadj.
Thanks! I am very happy with my potato haul this year. I’ve just picked my first ripe outdoor tomatoes this morning too!😃
Hi Fiona what a great sunflower! Potatoe harvest was excellent too. Your secret garden is looking good! Nice butternut squash! I hope the pumpkins produce for you.👍🤞🙏
Not sure if it’s getting a bit late for the squash now. I’ll be happy if I can get a couple even.
Hi Fiona, that's a great crop of Pink Fir Apple. I love the secret garden apart from the method of entry and exit. I've found at the allotment continually strimming weeds eventually gets rid of them. None of the grass paths at our allotment have been sown with seed. I think that the secret garden has lots of potential.
I’m thinking that if we strim it right down at the end of the year and then put cardboard down in early spring (if I can find enough) that should really help get ahead of the weeds. . As you say, there’s lots of potential there. 🤗
The tomatoes look amazing for being out side but weather will have certainly helped. All our squash are small like size of your hand small lol
Going to use dor decoration I think ...
The secret gardens done well 👌
I just found the first ripe outside tomatoes hiding at the back yesterday, so I’m very pleased. I’ve never grown these particular varieties of squash before so I’m not sure what size to expect, but I’ll probably leave them well into autumn to give them the best chance to grow.
Very prolific - like baby sweet potatoes. I just bought some Pink Fir Apple (seed) potatoes mainly because they were one of only two varieties left at the store and I was curious about them. No one else seemed to want them.
I like them. The are a waxy and nutty potato. Tasty just boiled in their skin with butter. I don’t usually get that many though! It was a good year! I hope yours grow well and you enjoy them.🤗
Nice of potato's there :)
I’ve been very happy with my potato haul this year! The pink fir apples did me proud!
What about planting some apple, pear and plum trees in that public space? They can usually look after themselves until they need pruning and harvesting.
Yes that’s a good idea. We’ve planted trees already over the last 2 or 3 years but no fruit trees. If I can’t tame the weeds or face the ladder in the next year or so fruit trees would be a definite possibility. Thanks for the idea!🤗
usual potatoe harvest always good with your magic touch, what will you do with all those green tomatoes if they dont ripen?chutney? do you get Gold Finches take the seeds from the thistle ? take care on that ladder 😉
My dad is a chutney eating machine so , yes, chutney probably. However I found a few ripe tomatoes hidden at the back yesterday so I’m hoping the rest will follow suit. We haven’t had many goldfinches the last couple of years. The seed eaters were a little brown bird like a meadow pippet or something.
@@fionagrows1848 Maybe pine siskins
I want some your potato 🤣 i eat all my😁 lovely sunflowers in big
I did well for my potatoes this year! Enough to keep us going for quite a while I think😃. I planted giant sunflowers this year but they don’t seem any bigger than the usual ones. Still, I love them. I’m going to save the seed for my hens to eat. 🤗
Secret garden is risky specially climbing on the ladder, you don't have something to hold onto for your safety 😬,,takes a lot of care going up and down 🤗
I know! It’s a bit of a nightmare! I don’t enjoy going over the top at all!😩
@@fionagrows1848 much better let your husband take care of the secret garden 😉
@@backtonature433 I like to live life on the edge!😂🤣
