This channel is massively underrated
Massively is an understatement
@@desroywhite9430 Absolutely beo
This underrated is channely massive
Absolutely
I don’t even care about sports and I’m binge watching the whole thing
Real fact: Rob Strasser and Peter Moore joined adidas after, and they designed the first adidas EQT series, helping the company not to go bankrupt. Another with for him
Reason why I wont sleep today: adidas jordan 1
shudder
just custom your adidas to be jordan 1... since that air unit does nothing...
A parallel universe that nobody wants to discover...
Such nice vibes and well-made content, i hope your channel becomes great!
It already is great
In "Last Dance" documentary, Jordan's manager said Nike hoped to sell for 3 million dollars worth of Air Jordan at the end of year 4 of the contract. Nike cashed 126 million in the FIRST YEAR alone. That means it took a little more than a week to match what was expected in 208 weeks.
In the 90's when I was in High School.....it was THE only shoe.
Damn near 30 years later...his shoe is STILL 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Its crazy.
Nike has done a lot of "revisionist history" concerning Sonny Vaccaro. You don't have Jordan at Nike without Sonny Vaccaro. In fact, he came up with the name Air Jordan name. He left Nike, later singed Kobe Bryant for Adidas, so they have act like he never existed. I encourage everyone to watch ESPN 30 for 30 - Sole Man about him.
Lee Edwards
You're a liar!!
Michael Jordan's agent David Falk came up with the name Air Jordan.
@@kingamiiamking4915 maybe he’s not a liar but mistaken, Sonny did do all of that but from I understand Michael’s Agent David Faulk came up with the name “Nike Air Jordan”
Sonny is actually my uncle, and what Nike has done to him is just disgraceful. Everything you said at the top is correct Lee.
Peter Moore seems to be the one without any stake in lying he backs up most of what Sonny has said and that Strasser was the one who came up with having one guy be the front man for the brand but he had no idea who Jordan was until Sonny told him.
@@Paul-ew5st yep and then those 2 went straight to adidas followed by Sonny a few years later. It’s a fascinating history & uncle Sonny was a pure hustler. You know we were all expecting the last dance documentary to at least mention Sonny in some regard, but the only thing was a photo you can see the back part of Sonny’s head when the Jordan family came to visit lol. He was so angry that he auctioned off his jordan 6s infrared from the finals. He showed them to me once and I remember the was a hole on the top that apparently MJ cut before the game. At least that & NCAA lawsuit provided some redemption. I wish I wasn’t a baby when all of this was happening, I’m a big sneaker collector now & I’ve tried get Nike SNKRS to do an interview or at least a visit with somny and me lol never once received a response
How do you guys not mention Sonny Vaccaro in this? He was the main reason jordan signed with Nike
I was always looking for this kinda channel, finally. Hope to see more from here.

I’m loving this channel. Thank you.
Nike became big because of Michael Jordan, if it wasn't for him it could have even disappeared. NBA also became a lot more popular because of him.

who’s watching this after seeing air?
These content creator Is best
Yeah seems like some details were off, now we have the inside story from Air.
I hope to go back to my comment again when in a few years your channel will be one of the most recognizable
Aside from Jordan, what is rarely mentioned about Rob Strasser and Peter Moore is that when many people at Nike hated Air and thought it was just a silly gimmick, they decided to put their faith in the one designer who did believe in it. A real maverick, the designer created a set of five different Air based shoes, the Air Max, the Air Trainer, Air Safari, Air Revolution and Air Sock and he did it without consulting anyone but Strasser and Moore. He was considered a pariah and, many people at Nike wanted him fired. Strasser and Moore however shielded him and encouraged him to pursue his idea for ‘Visible Air’. People think it was Jordan that saved Nike, but the reality is that it was the Air pack. Sales of the five shoes dwarfed the sales of Jordan, pulled Nike out of the doldrums and made them leapfrog adidas and Reebok to become the number one sports brand in the world. The name of the designer Strasser and Moore defended? Tinker Hatfield.
I wish your videos were a bit longer. I've binged watched almost all and they cut off when I'm deep into the video. This is actually a great channel. Looking forward for more content.
wow history of jordan nike #Legendary ART
The voice of the narrator is so much similar to the scientist of Dark series...
I love rob quote
Underrated
One more subscriber ✌️
damn this channel make me want to fly right now .
This channel will blow the fuck up. No way it cannot
I'd love to know how long it takes to make one of your videos?
Good question, we didn't really measure the hours it takes for a video yet. Most of the work is researching and writing the script, then you have to think about the storyboard, animations, cutting and the voiceover etc. We just kicked off the channel and it is a lot of work, but it's also a lot of fun and comments like yours keep us going!
@@AthleticInterest well we're loving the content and we can't wait for more... I'd love to see a video about the greats of different sports that didn't win because of other greats that played and dominated at the same time
Please never give up the effort. It will pay out for sure. Great content!
It would be amazing if you guys do a video about the rise of AND1 brand 🛣️🏀 🙂
Rip God bless
And now we've got a movie about it 😂😂
God bless
I just subscribe to you my bruddah
I just watched the movie about this. Seems Sonny Vaccaro was an important person in this deal. No?
Make some videos on cricket
Would definitely recommend to watch the new Air movie starring Matt Damon.
Raddest gravestone ever
Those original Jordan’s black/ red are the most fire shoes I have ever seen ! Iam no sneaker head as I like fashion boots more for fall or winter. Damn those shoes are fire tho ! I wonder where they at ? In the Jordan documentary just released on Netflix he said he wore them again when he returned from retirement in 95 I think. I can’t imagine the cost of those shoes.
How are they going to just flat out lie. Sonny vaccaro is the one who landed Jordan and pushed for the deal and it wasn't 2.5 million it was 250k get your facts straight
2:42 lol strasser use dank meme huh
Rob Strausser OP
Without Sonny Vaccaro, Jordan would never have signed with Nike. Sonny Vaccaro was the ONLY advocate of MJ and risked his career on getting him to sign with NIKE.
Just watched this with my wife and she laughed and said, “And men says women are emotional…” I do agree with her. 😂 They created two dominating companies all because of egos and not wanting to have a mature conversation about differences. Yet, a woman was the cause. 🤔Im not saying all family is easy to deal with, and I don’t know them personally, but to know this hatred even carried over into generations is sad.
Rob Strasser seemed like a very interesting bloke, rest in peace
Joseph Richards He was. Phil and Rob used to know each other from their days at Deloitte.
I think AJ 1 highs with the 3 strips is hot af
Adidas would have turned Nike into a Reebok had they offered Jordan a similiar contract! Imagine the Portland Trailblazers had the same beliefs that Nike had in Jordan!
Im here for the business side of things, would love to see any thing other than sports too..
Marketing geniuses
Your voice sounds somewhat German. Are you from Germany?
norDIY yes he is
Imagine if Jordan was a bust
Goddamn this is good content, WOW!
Jordan is brand,Jordan is Nike but Nike doesn’t want to give royalty to players
Hey
Doctor : Adidas Jordan 1 isnt real it cannot hurt you
Adidas Jordan 1 :
Jordan's agent is the real MVP
According to himself
jordans mom and sonny
I would guess those ...brilliant brains of Adidas who refused to match Nike's contract and keep MJ now they're flipping burgers at their local McDonald's.
I swear, if the pay is right, you can get a NBA player to endorse Tampons. "Jordan Tampons, for your heavy days". Lol. Jordan 11s is a piece of art tho.
Jordan back then was just a rookie.. Addis only care about famous people with experience... Jordan 3 is very good.. i had them and i think one of the best sneaker in winter..
Nice vid but Sonny Vaccaro was the man who made Jordan signed with Nike. If Sonny didn't wooed MJ's mom, Nike would never have been here today.
wherein all this is sonny Vaccaro?????? he was more responsible to get Jordan to Nike like Kobe to Adidas...... he really saved Nike and now not even a footnote about the guy....lol
Very interesting....i like Jordan, but the only nike sneakers i like is the classic nike waffle, i like most and wear adidas, so why marketing doesnt work on me..? Am i a freak...???🤣🤣🤣
To this day, it is still and will always be Adidas' biggest regret.
Without full context, committing such a huge contract to a college kid who had not even played a single NBA game, who played in a sport where one injury could end one's career instantly, was a inconceivable risk. Of course Jordan would go on and become the biggest player, but imagine an equally likely outcome of him being injured and stop playing, Nike would have ended there and then.
@@rezhaadriantanuharja3389 Yes. And Jordan was 3rd draft pick. Sam Bowie was 2nd and seemed much more marketable than Jordan.
@@ultrapaiva Jordan was only drafted 3rd because conventional wisdom at the time was that you needed a center to win a championship. Jordan just came off being college player of the year, dominating the Olympics, and he was infinitely more exciting than Bowie. . . so how exactly was Bowie more marketable?
Lol Adidas 😂💀
Can't really take this seriously if it leaves out Sonny Vaccaro
Now we know who's that one dislike lol
Typo on the grave stone 8:54
"And most important Out Out all the bullshit"
Out out?
it's "cut out" all the bullshit... no typo
The unwieldy condition basically telephone because violet selectively matter before a weary kevin. kindhearted, bitter schedule
The funny thing is that Jordan hated Nike. Only because of his dad he joined.
His mom I heard in the documentary, let's say his parents.
And most importantly cut out all the bullshit
