Another difference between Potter's situation and Arteta's situation is that Arteta didn't have the massive war chest Chelsea had.

arteta spent 400m+. the difference is arteta didn't fill it full of big expensive stars he bought a lot of younger players or players with points to prove... this gave him authority over them. he also removed any big egos like auba who challenged his authority. Potter has zero respect from anyone in that Chelsea team u can see it. Potter looks out of his depth. arteta did at the start but arteta lowered the depth to match his level then built it back up in his image

saliba was well known, I'm pretty sure he won an award in France young player of the season or something and was in the team of the season. what arsenal did well there was that they moved very fast and very early. that was a good bit of transfer work. even tho he's dropped off towards the end he's had a good season overall and looks like a really prospect

On a serious note, what we ve learned from Potter at Chelsea is that being a good coach doesnt make you a good manager by itself. management and coaching are 2 different skill sets. you need both to be elite. look at ten hag.

Mikel had a plan, a vision and a strategy from day 1. I remember reading an article by Alan Smith in the Evening Standard when Arsenal had yet to appoint a new manager after Emery - he said Arsenal need a visionary (who doesn't!!!) - but he did say Arteta could be that man. I was so impressed with what Mikel had to say right at the start and I personally stuck by him and never thought he should go - keep the faith!!! I think Potter is a good manager - just at the wrong club for him.
Also, Arteta was a master of improvisation even at Arsenal’s worst. Arsenal’s squad in 2020 was nowhere near good enough to execute Arteta’s football system that he wanted, so at Aubameyang’s scintillating best, Arteta set up a system of “long ball to Auba & inshallah”, which worked well for the short term. And after a few windows he was suddenly able to put his system in place. If Potter can improvise a temporary system that works for keeping them top 7 this season, then he deserves some credit, but if he doesn’t get top half then he should be out.
