Better than working on rocks. A shop is a shop. Congrats, wish I could put one up myself.

My opinion from my own experience is minimum 2x6 heavily insulated walls and insulated garage doors of course for both winter warmth but great sound insulation so you can clank and bang and run a compressor and not worry about neighbor complaints during late night or weekend/holidays when you really want to work in your shop. Also, inexpensive cementitious exterior lap siding or cementitious board and batten rot resistant carpenter ant/termite proof holds paint well and fire resistant when you do torching/welding.. Skylights are great for daylight in shops (I have 6-2ft x4ft diffused skylights best decision ever in my 28'x36' shop) and often better than windows on walls and wall windows hog wall rack or shelving storage space because there's never enough space in any shop no matter how big it is as tools/materials/equipment/workbenches fills it up faster than anyone ever believes.😇

I totally agree with all you said . He does have wall windows at the top because it’s going to be so tall. I might add skylights in there if I don’t decide to put solar panels on the roof. Thanks for watching. Really appreciate it!

Respectfully sir, having solar for 6 years and if you have the land and sun exposure, the efficiency of solar is far better if racked and paneled on the ground rather than on a high roof. Panels need to cleaned and are easily snow covered when on a roof. Dirt in the air settles on roof installed solar zapping their max efficiency and are frankly forgotten and often poorly maintained. But placed strategically on ground can be cleaned/rinsed, maintained, and accessible which watching your content suggests you like maintaining your equipment and are hands-on and curious to all of it working correctly. Much respect.. @@DirtBrute

@@torchup yeah true . I have them on my roof and I have to clean them because of my wood stove . The soot all winter long lands on them . I use a painters pole with a car wash brush on the end and dawn dish soap 😂. The only reason I wouldn’t putt them on the ground here is if I don’t have enough land space.

Stevie, I am just finishing up a 40x60 in Falmouth, steel frame and roof, board and batton sides so it doesn't feel like a steel building, had to go in front of the planning board with a lawyer for a special permit but got it approved. Steel company was a nightmare, right in the middle of Covid, took 1 year and a half and the price nearly doubled, I erected it with a bunch of buddies and all is good now but what a pain. You guys are welcome to check it out anytime. Congratulations Guys!

There’s this miniature popcorn plant where you just put the piece of corn on the cob in the microwave and….POW!….it pops out popcorn!

I know just what a royal pain this process is - around here the permits are only good for one year - but at least it's not as expensive as what you're going through. Still, nothing but a lot of red tape and excuses and annoyance. But you'll get some nice videos doing the project and I'm looking forward to that. I agree with the 2X6 wall suggestion and did that when I did my 24X24 workshop and was really glad I did. Unfortunately, I had a trained monkey doing the cement foundation complete with lots of free cracks but that's just the breaks. Wish I had had a guy like Dirt Boss. Anyway, always enjoy your videos no matter what you do so thanks for sharing!

Yeah I want 2x6 walls so I can set steel I-beams inside for the overhead crane. Yeah, the process has been a royal pain in the butt. We are going to attempt to do all the concrete ourselves. Thanks for watching Really appreciate it.

You guys are great. My son and I haven’t been able to talk like that since he was 12 and we were fishing. Hope we get to the point where we are just men and good friends. I see that with u two.

It’s hard for a dad to admit that his kid is grown and working with him makes it more difficult.

When you work with family you realize all the mistakes you made and you vocalize them to ur kids. They hate hearing it. But you feel like a bad parent if you don’t tell them.

I see all my mistakes and I don’t want them to be in a position to repeat them. They don’t want to hear it. They don’t want to hear it. They got this. Well I hope so cause I still worry even if I do my best to step aside.

Two ten or twelve year old boys stopped by yesterday morning. I was busy. They asked about shoveling the driveway. The wife said no it would melt. I saw them leaving and inquired. I was pissed because few kids have the balls to ask for work and even if we didn’t need it we could have paid them to do a bit.

I’m waiting on the good weather to do more painting. I don’t have a shop to use anymore. My buddy with the building has his own project going on .
