- The Super Monkey Ball series' fall from grace often gets attributed to one Wii game which changed the identity of the series for the next decade and beyond with its focus on motion controls alongside a new art direction, Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz. Suffice to say, when an HD remaster of that same game, Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz HD, marked the grand return of the franchise after a seven year hiatus instead of the classics that made fans fall in love with those rolling monkeys in the first place, Super Monkey Ball gamers were not happy. But now that Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, the remake that everyone actually wanted, has released, how did Banana Blitz affect the franchise, how is it on its own merits, and how does its HD remaster take the opportunity to improve it? Let's find out in this review of Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz and Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz HD for the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo Switch, PC & Steam, Xbox One, and Playstation 4!

I can’t wait to play this game for the first time when I do a Let’s Play on the Wii version with my Wii Remote with Wii Motion Plus Dolphin Emulator via Steam Deck and the HD version on the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam Deck! It might end up being one of my favorite of the Super Monkey Ball series in my honest opinion! Another amazing review here on your channel! You’re so UNDERRATED and starting to become one of my favorite CZcamsrs of all time right next to Plainrock124!
CZcams must hate you cause this video is amazing!
I kind of feel like Banana Blitz set the low standard for the whole era of shovelware and I gave up on ever getting another game in the franchise until Banana Mania came out.
This isn't the first entry to receive criticism for its controls. That honor goes to Touch & Roll for its inprecise touch controls.
I'm pretty ballsy. I own BOTH versions and tonight, I FINALLY did 10-5 in the Wii original (with that bugged platform and all). BB HD took me less time to unlock everything, lol.
Despite the different level design philosophy, I do like BB.
(I'd love to get the GCN originals for 1 and 2, but good lord, those atrocious prices if you want a copy that looks remotely great...)
Hey! I just wanted to say that I've been seriously enjoying these videos from you! I also can't wait for you to cover Step & Roll because I unexpectedly ended up really liking elements of that one.
Keep up the awesome work! From one Super Monkey Ball loving 'Pixel' to another!
Thanks! It's super fun making these videos and it means a lot that so many people are enjoying them!
Out of all the post-Deluxe mid, Step and Roll was one of the ones I was looking forward to the most.
Good review, learned a lot
Looking forward to your thoughts on Step and Roll. I know the soundtrack is great but know nothing else about it.
I was very happy to see your video land in my subscriptions box. It didn't disappoint. Thanks for all your effort and passion!
Thanks, that means a lot to hear!
Great video! Really have been enjoying your retrospect. Seems we share a lot of opinions on this one.
Thanks! These videos are fun to make and I'm glad you guys enjoy them.
Love these videos.
