Not only would by hand drawing a perfect circle on a sheet of paper be near impossible but also doing it through solid flesh with a knife and doing it going perfectly around the bones in his face while also not flinching and doing it to his own face where he has no guide to where he started but where he is on the circle

Since the vending machine was in the desert, he could have easily broken into the vending machine and got the egg without wasting money or breaking the egg.
