Everything you said has been true for me. I'm 50 now and looking back i see how stifled i was. Any victory i had she made her victory.

I would move to interview you as a man who dated a woman with a mother like this. The mother i dealt with was just like this, i have recordings from my ex that i own and used in court to win a lifetime order of protection.
I can totally attest to this and have proof how this naracisstic mother did all of this to my ex girlfriend

What about mother/son narcissism? My mom is also a hoarder, has mountains of junk she won't part with, has 5K books she has never read. She spent my inheritance from grandma on Y2K food, which is rotten, but she won't throw it away. Rats moved in 4 years ago and shat on everything. Her house now smells like rat death and piss, with rotten food. Her entire property is like a beach after a shipwreck. Mix in brand new expensive things from Home Depot rotting in the weather, never assembled or used. Yet she is still superior and infallible.

It took Elinor dying for me to start to heal. I didn't realize the self loathing inner monologue was actually MT mother,,elinor... It played over and over in my head "what's wrong with me."

It’s hard to get people to love and approve of you when they don’t love and approve of themselves game changer there for me! Narcissistic mothers hate themselves!

Been no contact with my mum for 6 years … and it hurts like hell STILL … it’s so odd and confusing to me how a mother can use her daughter as an emotional punch bag … I have a daughter myself and could NEVER imagine treating her with such hatred … and to keep her feeling unworthy to keep control of her is just beyond crazy … who does this ?… I just feel heart broken and it’s affected my life so much … and it doesn’t help I’m just finding out I’m autistic and adhd

Your story is so similar to mine. My daughter is 25. All i want for her is success and happiness in the ways right for her. ❤

@@A_British_woman Similar situation as well. My daughter is 26, I want her to be happy & I have always seen her as a separate person. Even before she was born I wanted to respect & promote in a healthy way her separateness & individuality as a person … I think this was because I realised as an adult that my mother wanted to live in an enmeshed relationship with me & I felt smothered by her even before I knew what enmeshment was.

@@one-day-at-a-time9317 Thanks for replying. It's good to know others understand. I do didn't understand enmeshment until relatively recently. But all my instincts knew things weren't right. I'd use vocab like respecting each others choices.
