- Sorry, it's a long one
** The seller has already sent out a new cable **
I needed a display for my upcoming RetroPie build so rather than buy something already put together, I thought I would pick up what you might describe as a kit.
Here is the display I picked up - www.aliexpress.com/item/7-Inch...
Here is a working config file for Raspbian Jessie - www.davidjwatts.com/youtube/Sc...

6:40 I like when you tried to plug it in into the capacitor.
Ha ha, old age and viewing the bench through the camera's LCD will make you do crazy things.
Great screens for DIY projects. Inspired by Ben Heck I'm interested in making a PI portable game console based on using original hardware.
So I believe it will be a nightmare to have an HDMI signal sent through the zif cable. The build will be unavoidable tight on space, so I'm aimless on what parts to even look at! I if the screen is not a kit, I will we willing to gut the display assembly if I get everything working.
Spolier: I want to make a battery powered handheld Sega Saturn. I can ditch the CD Drive because the Rhea and Phoebe mod works like the Dreamcast GDEmu.
Looks great David. Nice screen for sure.
Great review, thanks David. I have just ordered two of these from Ebay (without the touch screen, which i do not want) at $20 each! Amazing bargain. And thanks so much for the config file!
idk if you still remember, but is there any way you can share the link to these 20$ ones you got? im making a portable but dont want to waist money on touch im not going to use
Thank you very much for solving my problem!
David. this is a nice alternative to LCD. lease put a video when you get the capacitive touch working also.
For me was working good on raspbian but for using retropie and Kody was not working at all what can I do
hi, does this logic controller board charge up a 9-12v battery connected to the 2nd power terminal if you plug in the primary power adapter. Will it pass power to the battery if both are connected and just to give battery charge.
Hi I just purchased the lcd with board like yours and I connect hdmi and it look like centre of the screen is not in the middle but on right corner and I can't find any help please do you know solution for this problem??
Please help.
i have question.... can you use due HMDI cable to connect on your pc or do you need more Raspberry PI for the screen more working i have troubling with the connections? and it is mine first time i using this screen because i want to use the screen for making a old school television for mine scale modeling.
Is there a way to plug or solder a speaker on the board to use when connected to HDMI
Is it possible to connect with RGB connection , because I am trying to replace a Car factory gps display with this and the car connection pinout uses RGB, NV SYNC?
I am having trouble finding the calibration program for this little toy any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
the problem with the touch screen, tap in the middle to fishing and to the right, all is well, and when at the top press the arrow at the bottom when at the bottom click the arrow at the top how to fix a config or driver???
i maybe have a bit of a stupid question, is there a way where you can connect the the screen to the raspberry pi itself or a powerbank or something so you wouldn't use all those power sockets?
Can You check the touch PCB and connect it to PC with windows 8 or 10? Is it recognized as digitizer (or mouse) and can You get access to pen settings in control panel. You can check it without screen, just PCB. Thanks!
Do you think this screen would be bright enough to use in a car project?
Could we use it on a vertical position ?
the problem with the touch screen, tap in the middle to and to the right, all is well, and when at the top press the arrow at the bottom when at the bottom click the arrow at the top how to fix a config ???
David, will this work with PC through the VGA from the display driver?

What are the dimensions for the driver board coz I am thinking about buying this
I'm trying to make a 4 screen picture frame. Is that possible. All 4 screens to one raspberry pi with a SD card of the pictures?
apakah bisa untuk panel tablet
you can change that config.txt in PC if settings not work
This may sound stupid but where do i put this file in the rpi
is it working with DCS ?
Great ! I Will Check It tomorrow morning, thanks for all!!!! I back to you asap
Hey David. Thanks for this video. I was able to full screen for the raspi 3 with the google AIY top hat on it. Have you tried calibrating the touch screen?
Hi, I gave it a quick go but I couldn't figure out how to invert the axis. Mine appears to be back to front, left goes right as it were. Other than that it appear to have full coverage.
I went to the 52pi web site and tried to calibrate the screen. You have to load and use their calibration tool from the command line, then cut and paste the results into a .conf file. When I tried that the GUI would not come up.
I am thinking of swapping the pins around.
I am running the Google AIY image from Magpi magazine.

Can u show how to mke a minty pi
2:56 that is lvds connector normally used lcd pannels of laptops and tvs ....
Oh, by the way, mate, the interface cable goes under the little black bar, not over the top of it. I found that in another video. You might want to check that out.
Is there a case for this?
Awesome. Makes me think me get get one too my friend.
+Alternative DIY Energy You should, if you don't want the touchscreen (Which I don't really need) they can be had for £22 delivered.
Cheers for that my friend.
sir i want to ask, please reply.. from that waveshare lcd, can it run 60fps video on that little screen? thx
It has a 60hz refresh rate, so yes I think so.
Do you have a case or enclosure for the screen? I have one of these and been trying to find a decent case that works for it.
Sadly not, I 3d printed a really crap one and it really just holds the thing up. An enclosure would be great though so if you find one send me a link.
Nice video , How much voltage did you use for the lcd?
5v

how to set the drivers windows iot on raspberry pi2 . display is work but touch not detec
Try this page - blog.tpcware.com/2015/06/enable-display-touch-on-windows-10-iot-raspberry-pi-part-1/
You're missing also an remote controller for the screen.
There should really be clarification if this is a capacitive or resistive touch display. Aliexpress description says resistive, overlay looks resistive (matte, blocks some light), but the reviewer keeps saying capacitive. Capacitive often supports multi-point touch, resistive usually does not. Resistive works fine with insulators for stylus or gloves, so is better suited to industrial environments, though resistive elements are usually plastic, where capacitive can be glass. Pretty sure this is resistive and this can make a big difference depending on the use case and environment.
Thanks for the review I was just going to buy the exact same screen. How did it look once you'd got the controls working?
The screen actually looks great, I am struggling to find a nice case for it. The one I 3d printed is pretty rubbish and my print area is not really great enough to make use of the ones on thingiverse.
David Watts I was thinking of making a case from acrylic sheets. I've seen a vid on someone making a joystick case using that and it looked decent.
Could I use a usb to 12v adapter to power this?
Sure, I don't see why not
Did you ever get the Touch portion working?
Stephen Williams I'd love to know
can it install raspbian os
to get audio out, you could just buy a hdmi to hdmi + audio extractor, or use the raspberry audio out..
Hi David, maybe a stupid question but could I also just use it with a regular PC? So just connect it via HDMI so I can use it for Simracing as a dashboard...
Absolutely you can.
Question is how can you check if your video card can handle this resolution? I've read that sometimes the resolution is too low for your card to recognize it. I have an Nvidea GTX 770 but can't find if it will handle this resolution or not...
Just got mine, works perfectly! I was lucky enough to get the cable to connect the buttons :). Question is how do you make the touch work?
It doesn't work that well to be honest, even on the raspberry pi.
demonstate?
I am not getting input on my raspberry pi :/
were did u buy it
The screen with acrylic stand. It's very easy to assemble.www.amazon.co.uk/GeeekPi-Raspberry-1024x600-Display-Tranparent/dp/B06XZ5GR6Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1492655357&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=raspberry+pi+7+inch&psc=1
Hello, how can I display in vertical format ?

Sure, this should help - www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=120793
Hi thanks David :) I have already tryed this, but when I change the parameters to display_rotate=1 my Raspberry starting the display in vertical (white lines) and then my screen stay black :( turned on but black screen !

try updating the pi with sudo apt-get update then sudo apt-get upgrade (this will take a while) then reboot. I think there was a padding issue at some point.
wouuuu is works!!!! I need just display in a full screen now :) have you a magic command ligne ?
You will probably need to play around with /boot/config.txt to get it to display fullscren. Check out the solutions here - www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14914
Did you ever manage to get the touchscreen to work?
It does work with the latest raspbian image but the axis need calibration.
John Smith please tell me which drivers from the disk use
for touchscreen raspberry pi3, thank you
Андрей ААВ I sent mine back because I could not get touch to work.
Андрей ААВ there are drivers for Windows only
apakah bisa untuk lcd tablet
Will it work with windows 7 and 10?
Works fine on Windows 10 for me, I am afraid I gave up windows 7 a long time ago now.
I don't use Windows 10 because of various reasons. But I think if it works with windows 10 it should work with windows 7.
may be CD is an instruction
Very nice ! I can provide LCD screen!
how much power is requiredd to power the display
can i plug it with a power bank
I would budget for ~500ma so it will run from a power bank.
David Watts what is the required voltage
Gaming Mania 9-12 volts I think
хороший дисплей, но я немного другой купил
POSITIVO BGH
still working fine?
Yeah, working great. I don't have it on all the time though.
I have the Pi 3 and the Same 7" screen ..2 days trying to get the Touch to work right I also have to spread out the screen about a inch I went to the EEti supplyer (egalax) but the downloads are 3 years old and 5 years old ..nothing for Pi 3
# uncomment to force a console size. By default it will be display's size minus
# overscan.
#framebuffer_width=1280
#framebuffer_height=720
Is this with Sudo apt-get ..? Sorry i'm still new with Linux and programming
I found the place for overwrite and turn it off and enabled SPH Screen fits good Now the Touch is 100% off before it was jumpy lol ..getting closer
who knows how to invert Y axle? :/ trying a lot of stuff from google and no resoults :(
Exactly what I couldn't figure out so I didn't cover the touchscreen in another video.
On a desktop interface based on X11, use xinput_calibrator.
(GNU/Linux, not Winblows)
fk product without a case.
Just a better interface and virtual keyboard you're good to go.
