- In this video, we take a look at a really nice 7 inch IPS Touchscreen display for the Raspberry Pi,
The Pi4 mounts to the back of the display and is connected over HDMI plus this screen has built-in speakers! With a resolution of 1024x600 it’s not the highest resolution but this works very well and will allow you to create a portable Raspberry pi4 if you add a battery pack.

That is an absolutely fantastic product. I hope they release similar screens with larger size/higher res and the same mounting and connectivity.
Wow this is exactly what I was looking for. Would be perfect with a 3d printed cover with Bluetooth controllers connected to the sides. A+
It's been over 2 years and I noticed, This guys has a great Voice.
One of the best speaking voices in the game imo!
Just realized this may be one of the reasons I watch. Lockpickinglawyer also has a great voice and I love watching those. Also half the reason I watched Planet Earth.
@@schubajo agreed, LPL and ETA Prime are excellent narrators. I dunno if seeing their faces would ruin it for me or not 😂
Damn son where'd you get this
You're just simping for him. Lol.
Awesome! Make me really want to get back into tech. So many ideas in my mind right now.
Really been wanting a kitchen media device for playing youtube and such while cooking or even to look up things while you're in there. This might be perfect built into a cabinet or something. Might give it a go.
The USB plug that offers touch actually powers the unit as well (5v red pin/black pin, touch is the green/yellow wires). The GPIO power cable is redundant and NOT needed to power the screen. You only need that USB plug, and the HDMI ribbon cable. This frees up your GPIO for an ICE cooler running at 5v.
What can I said I'm a newbie in This Raspberry Pi world , thanks to your videos I bought my first RPi, that just arrived Yesterday
Now we need a fitting case kit with battery pack, game controllers on the left and right and we have a Switch-Pi.
Thank you for posting this!
I ordered this thing literally 3 days ago and then you come out with a video talking about it before it’s been delivered. Pretty convenient lol
Good review of what looks to be a well thought out product.
Awesome review! Thank you!
Very useful. Thank you!
Thank you for making this video!!!
I have had one of them for abut 30 days and love it;
Im useing it in my car with androud 10 as a gps.
Have you seen the PiDash setups? They are pretty cool.
That's actually a really neat use for it.
That's awesome, I was going to comment that this looks like the perfect base for a DIY head-unit.
Jay Private I have the mew firmware you have to use the sd card.
On usb it boots but locks up.
I’m yawing android 11.
Have the same and am very happy with it. I love the clean connections to the PI (in my case also a PI4B), nothing standing off the edges for connection. Unlike the other 7", higher than 800x480 (MIPI-interface) resolution displays. I'm also using it with a X735 for power-mgmt and cooling, works great.
Is it available in India?
Hi sir, i am probably missing something.
How do you search for this specific screen as there is no brand? I have watched the video several times but nothing helps.
Could you please send me the link to the product?
Thank you.

I picked up this Screen probably 6 months ago.
So happy with it, im going to Run it in my car, mounted in a Double Din Adapter, Customised naturally.
Christopher Curwen this was an idea i was going for as well. I hope it is sunlight readable.
@@nickhenley8040worst case you can buy Matte Screen filters.
so not the end of the world :)
Hey fella, I'm hoping to do the same. I was wondering, do you need to have access to the power/menu buttons on the back of the screen, or will it power on with the PI?
@@_SonOfPear_ powers on with the pi. the controls on the back are pretty much pointless
What screen is this? It has no brand name or proper link.
dude i am sending this comment through the same IPS display
I have had mine for about a year.
Lol
bruh i was skeptical if it worked b4 seeing this comment lol
Not sure if you will see this, but does the pi power the screen? Like is it possible to use one cable to power both the pi and the display?
Absolutely fantastic! This is the perfect screen for my planned project: A multi-audio player (MP3, FLAC from SSD / Internet-Radio / CD) with a PI4B connected to a HiFi Stereo Amplifier :-)
This is why I love this channel. I’m gonna look for a case that might support this. I may need to print one myself. Regardless, this is a game changer in every field the Pi dwells in. Thank you again for this video!
Any luck finding a case for this screen?
can try with BMO nintendo switch stand

I have one of these screens and LOVE it. Highly recommend for Pi projects that need screens.

This screen is much better than the last one you show us. Might just pick one up.
Where to buy in the UK please ? Awesome review and product
Been tempted by similar 7 inch screens for a while. In the end, I opted for the NexDock. much tidier solution for me, but pricy.
Interesting product
Thanks for sharing
Working on small form factor systems like rpi-4 with a 7" display is an effecient model of computing.
Ordered RasPad 3 and Pi-Top yesterday
Definitely gonna look at making a pi laptop with this lol.
I have this screen, love it! I've been using it for about the last 6 months and it's been flawless so far :) One difference from the one you show and the one I have (you may have a more recent model) is the small "touch to Pi" lead that you have wasn't included. Instead, they sent a short 3" Type A to MicroUSB cable which sticks out from the side connector of the monitor, so it's not quite as compact as the setup you have here. Just an FYI.
I also have the same display.
@@adiands850 Hi there
Please i have the same concern, can you help?
Thanks
@@jeanlaurentkamgaing2138 Hi, there was a response to my other comment, which says the screen is a Lebula 7'' touchscreen monitor. Hope that helps.

Man I'd love one of these in 10"/12" size and 1080p/1440p. I think my RPi4 did 1440p at 59/60hz quickly testing on my latest desktop monitor, this would be killer for a DIY Android tablet.
It's amazing how much you can do with 7 inches.
The very same thing with 720/1080p resolution would be so neat!
I have the same screen and a Pi 3B on it. You can change the volume if you press + and brightness via -. The touch screen works out of the box, but only the left mouse button. This requires one USB 2.0 port, so 3 ports remain open. The native resolution should always be set as the resolution. If you switch off the screen, the Pi continues to run.
The power supply that came with my screen was unstable. So I exchanged it.

damn, I just bought the 5" screen from one of your last videos.
You did not do a screen tearing test? Sound Loudness test or test any Roms???
Amazon had this same screen under another listing for 35 dollars a couple weeks ago. I managed to snatch one! Great screen!
Send link, please buddy :'v

Hi ETA prime I take it I can split the power wires and solder the ice tower power to the same pins for power so the screen and the ice tower together?
This would make for an awesome radio in an older car.
i got similar screen, paid for it 32 bucks on aliexpress, and its great, but its a version without speakers + it has 2 hdmi ports, one on the back, and one on the side, and its shipped with a mini hdmi to hdmi adapter that just fits perfectly rpi hdmi port, so theres no cable basically, i love this thing, wish there was something like that for 100 bucks or something, thats 13-15 inch, so i could make myself a mini laptop with rpi 400, or like a controller board thats very slim for old laptop screens, cuz currently the controller boards are rather thicc, so it would be a rly chunky laptop
Something that low power, thats enough for some yt and watching like netflix or something, and doing some office work, that rly sounds nice for me.
Hi ETA Prime, Love your information and video. Will it run Zen Pinball and using Joystick? Will Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work on the Android 9 ?
This would be great screen for raspberry pi mini-laptop... Top of the laptop would be raspberry pi and that would help with cooling and bottom part would be the keyboard and battery and probably touchpad maybe even ssd in some shape or form.
It's a shame that I don't have a 3D printer so that project is in "Maybe in the future" projects.
for a glass screen protector buy one for the nintendo switch, fits perfectly. Also check the HDMI ribbon cables, mine was plugged in upside down on the PI side. Had to unclip it and reinstall it to get signal.
This is amazing and totally better than the waveshare display
I think I'm going to use this for my tin lunch box arcade project.
They work perfect for that - it’s how I have mine configured. And I 3D printed an enclosure for it.
How do you know which gpio pins to connect the power to? The pictures at the end were very helpful thank you
Could be a cool screen for some weather monitoring software.
@@KINGofKEROSIN That is true.
If this was mounted so the control buttons on the back, such as power aren't accessible, is there another way to power it up or make those adjustments?
Power to the pi-ple!
Does the screen turn on when it is powered or do you need to physically press the power button? Planning on mounting the display so button may not be available after installation.
this would be a great start for a cyber deck
For scooter?
Elecrow have a version of this which uses the same connections as their 5". So instead of the 3 cables on this one, it has the same 2 U-shaped HDMI/Micro and USB/micro adaptors. The only other difference is it doesn't have the mounting tabs that stick out, it has built in standoffs on each corner.
Can you post link, looking for same. Couldn’t find on amazon with u shaped adapters. Thanks

@ETA PRIME
Would like to see you try this with your RockPi64 and Android(not TV). Looks really cool!
I'd like to get H x W measurements from that to see if it would fit a double DIN mount in a car audio head unit. I be it would make a great android auto setup.
Yeah I'd like to see a dual screen mini computer with Raspberry Pi if possible
I'm totally putting this in my truck.... Lol
I have this screen. You can power the screen through the USB ports on the pi, you do not have ego use the GPIO port so it allows you to attach a cooler. Also the speaker volume can be controlled through the screen buttons, but it’s hidden in the menu.

ETA, two questions: what does ETA Prime stand for, and how'd you get that scar thingy on your left thumb? Highly off topic and personal I know, but thought I'd give it a shot since I've been with you so long.
Cool 😎
Oka! It's time to add a touch oriented theme for TwisterOS.
Twister 1.9!!!
can you recommend some good active cooler to go with this my idea to use an ice tower cooler but do i need longer screws
It is the first time that i see a company to put the simple cables inside the antistatic bag, and the board without any protection. I had a good laugh.
wonder if you could make a video for Pinball Arcade Android version running in Portrait Orientation? I've tried Lineage 17.1 Android and the resolution offered in the OS just doesn't work well when I force it to Portrait mode. Wondering if the performance would be better given you said this screen is able to convert the HDMI resolution at the hardware level to support Portrait Mode. Even though 7 inch is kind of small for pinball, it would be very cool to see that running.
My pi 400 needs this!

This seems perfect for my planned DIY 2DIN Android Headunit using CARLINKIT adaptor to enable carplay.
Headunits have really slow interfaces, and sometimes overpriced > 200$
Hi there. Do you know where I can find the speaker plug in sockets. My screen came with cable just soldered onto the board I’d like to add then for ease of use. Thank you.
Need to 3D print a case. A small Arcade case for Arcade retro gaming.
In the process of building a Cyberdeck and looking for a good Touchscreen. I found this Display you are testing and was curious if there was a way to control the settings other than the buttons on the back?
The plan is to use this Touchscreen, Raspberry PI4 B 8GB, and power it by PiSugar. Not sure if i can mount all of that on the back of this Touchscreen?
Thank you for a great demonstration!
Can you please tell the measurements by putting a scale beside it.
For example it is a 7 inch screen.
Height=x
Length=y
Width=z
I wonder how hard it would be to get a USB hub and battery pack mounted to the back using the two vacant screw holes on the top (or just replace the feet entirely and use the bottom screw holes)
I know it's been over a year since you posted this but here's a question: Did your power cable hang past the bottom of the screen far enough where it interfered with the legs that came with the screen?
I got one of those and to control volume you can click the up button on the monitor and an audio menu pops up
I’m seeing the screen has screw holes for a backing, might design something so you can put a fan on it and hold it at the same time.
I was hoping to see you run the tearing test like you did with the 5in screen: czcams.com/video/xcwqIxySFPg/video.html
You even stated in that video that "whenever I get a new screen for the raspberry pi I always check out this video on youtube".
I wanted to pull the trigger on this, especially since Amazon has a $10 coupon currently, but I suspect it has some unpleasant tearing, which contributed to this being a "great" device rather than warranting the "awesome" rating.
Plus, you even mentioned at 7:58 that changing the brightness doesn't introduce any extra screen tearing than you'd normally see on a screen with the Raspberry Pi given the drivers... That doesn't inspire much confidence.
I can't find this monitor at the link you provided. I need the ribbon cable connector option so I don't get those bulky external HDMI connectors.

Nice video. Can you do a video on driving multiple Pi's on the same power supply. I'm trying to find a way to synchronize multiple Pi screens to show one large image.
How can we add fan nd heat sinks to this case, is there anyway to connect a small fan, caz rpi4 needs fan nd heat sinks, can they be installed..
That space in the bottom left corner there while you were attaching the Pi4 - is that just unused space? Perhaps a nice spot to tuck a little lipo battery pack if you were putting this in a 3D printed enclosure?
I bought a very similar monitor to this, but it has a wheel for brightness and volume which is really nice and simple. But the resolution is just too low (especially with onscreen text and icons), and the aspect ratio is bad for a lot of modern content. Playstation 4 games only take up the middle 60% of the screen. I'm going to sell this one and get a 1280x800 screen.
Ha! First time I got something cool before ETA prime. I got a clone of this device based on an Amazon recommendation while trying to find portable displays. Pretty neat little thing
Hi I am using the same setup. Using the ribbon fpc micro hdmi cable but I can’t get the sound out from the built in speakers. Using raspian OS and right clicking the speaker icon there isn’t any option for hdmi and there is only audio jack. Tried tinkering the config.txt file but to no avail. Any idea on this issue.
I wonder if it could be used with the lilygo rs2040, there's no obvious video out, but it would sure be fun to (try to) make it work.
Hi it looks great it has all what I need but cannot find 1 most important feature. Can you somehow turn ON/OFF backlight?
I always wonder what would you put in your arcade that you bulid in your own what choice would you do or get sky is the limit on arcades mods
Hey ETA Prime. I got a game that I want to suggest that you add to the list of android games you use to test these Android devices. Genshin Impact.
It comes out in 2 weeks, uses the Unity Engine, and is god damn gorgeous. It's also freeeeeee.
What, Android is now running so smooth on Pi4? That looks cool
Wonder if you can add some type of solar panel connection to it to charge it
Is there a part I can order to connect the touchscreen touch output to the Raspberry Pi 4 without extending past the bezel very far? The link posted with the video shows a standard USB cable (included) for connecting the touch output instead of the special USB adapter shown in the video that plugs into a 4-pin connector on the display board. I'm looking for something like shown in the video. I would like to put the display and the Raspberry Pi into a small enclosure and there is not much room past the screen borders.
Hey , I know this is going to sound off the wall but could you do a tutorial on how to get "Alien 3 The Gun" _ health and ammo etc to stop flickering?
I've tried various MAME versions, mame in retroarch etc etc.. I just cant figure it out.
I know it's possible because I've seen many videos of it not flickering with people using MAME but I cant figure it out :(
(RP4) + (screen) - (fan) = wonderful space heater
I have this exact kit that I bought but it did not include some of the extra items ! Would have been so helpful! Lol
Does it work on a Galaxy S8 through dex mode?
Could you please measure the weight of the screens that you test? Thanks alot! Still waiting for the weight of the RasPad 3 !
The display you link to in the description does not appear to be what's in your video. The video (@4:08) shows a cable going from the back of the display to a USB port on the Pi. The listing on Amazon does not show this connection. Any ideas?
I want to add Geekworm Raspberry Pi 4 X862 M.2 NGFF 2280/2260/2242/2230 SATA SSD Storage Expansion Board is it possible to fit it all onto the back of this monitor?

Great Video. Can you fit a fan to the Pi when it is mounted on the display?
Cpu seems to be facing away from the screen, so height of the cooler shouldn't be much of an issue. If the mounting screws you use are too long to allow it to mount to the screen directly, I'd image a solution with standoffs or washers + longer screws would work decently.
have you ever tried this using dex? is it compatible? also with the touch
