- Sadly, because it's at an underplayed BR in air, and because it's in the Japanese air tech tree, the Ki-83 is hardly ever played. Trust me, though - the Ki-83 should be the next plane that you decide to spade.

I have been playing the Ki83 for a while, so here are some pro tips.
Your main targets are bombers and other heavy fighters, specially the F7F and Ju288. (You will see a lot of F7Fs, and those are free kills)
It's a very nimble plane but it won't keep up with single prop fighters in a turnfight. However you can try your luck vs early jets (he 162s and me262s)
There is a bug with the automatic engine controls if you overheat the engines they won't cool down and you have to reset them on the AF. (Do not use WEP at the beginning of the match, there is no need for it)
Last thing, it may appear that you do not carry much ammo, but you can get up to 4 kills as long as you don't use too much on longer bursts.
Also this one of those experimental engines that use the exhaust as a way to push the plane forwards, kinda like a jet.
Last useless piece of knowledge, this is one of the fastest accelerating planes in the game, so go ahead and do runway takeoffs to flex on everyone else. Challenge your friends to drag races, you cannot loose.
It's mind-blowingly fast on the runway.
Shutting off the engines for a bit won't work?
@@John.McMillan if you actually MEC it, no issues there. Press MEC, press MEC again. Bug gone. this bug is in the game for at least 7 years on various planes
you can fight any prop in the game if you use energy fighting tactics with the ki 83
Back when they first announced that the R2Y2s were going to be removed, I had an immediate flashback to having barely missed out on the German tanks that got removed and knew I couldn't repeat that experience.
I ground through the Japanese air tree in record time and this plane, THIS THING, was my favorite part of the hyper grind for the R2Y2s. This was so good to play and so effective to grind out the required previous planes needed to unlock the next ranks. I basically went all the way through the interceptor tree to this and researched backwards all the other things prior to the R2Y2s
I remember hearing about the R2Y2s being removed about a year ago and grinded them all the way but to this day, but they are still in the game lol. I don't see the point of removing them with how barren the JP jets are
@@fireslice042I think that’s why they still here. There’s no replacement. The removed German tanks had replacement while R2Y2 don’t.
I have a dilemna. I am researching the 2nd out of the three R2Y2's and worry they'll be removed, but then Gaijin showed the foldering update coming in September that is reducing the 2nd and 3rd R2Y2's research cost by 50%.
@@whatdothlife4660get the 2nd one and then put a tiny bit or research into the 3rd. If you have put only one RP into researching it, they will let you research even after it is deleted

So I just spaded the Ki-83 last week, and I agree with you on every point you made. It's the best interceptor I've used in the game so far, and totally worth getting and spading. Great Video!
Im doing the last mark of the event with the prem zero and wanted to try out something different, I'll definitely give a try to this one
That TK on the 262 was probably the guy chasing the Bearcat you shot down, you likely nicked him with one of your 20s and later he crash so it slapped you with a TK since you were the only one to damage him.
I’m currently grinding out the Japan air tree for the R2Y2’s and this is one of the planes im looking forward to. So far im about to break into rank 4, but my internets been out for a week and school starts tomorrow so hopefully they hold on to r2’s for a little longer.

Here's a good tip for KI 83 for the 30mms use tracer rounds they make things pop faster. For the 20mms use tracers
You should submit this to Gaijin. There is a glitch in the game that causes players to be penalized for teamkills that they didn't do. Also give us a link so we can examine the replay to try to figure out what happened for you to get a TK.
best high alt, heavy interceptor in game, this thing scare the shit out of hornet, cruising at 9.5 km going 650kmh without wep
I know this is completely random, but for the longest time I wish someone would make a list of what tier brings what in the ground tree. Can be a generic explanation for all nations, like armor / pen / and later on all those weird things that come at you. For example coming into tier 4 America has armor but low pen and Germany has better pen and decent armor I guess, and don’t even ask me what isreal is doing…

The Ki-83 was the plane on which i finally reached Rank 100, so it has a special place for me
a thing about the ki83 engine performance compared to irl. 88-90% is actually around full power 100% is WEP.
so ingame it has something like an extra 18% engine power ingame

I just want to finally reach jets but I'm still at tier 3 at br 4.3😭. I don't have that much paitence and or mental stamina to play this game longer than 1.5-2 hours at max
Well you might get some boost since some vehicles will now be foldered with the next update.
The only real way out of it is by buying premiums. It's how they've designed the system to work. Or just play, not expecting to reach jets in like 1-2 years of playing, and so don't expect fast progress
I watched a nice video on this plane from Japan at War when I was spading it: czcams.com/video/juQL5_hq1iw/video.html The United States found one intact and brought it back to the continent and when testing it with high-octane fuel were able to outperform both the P-38 and the F7F due to the Mitsubishi Ha-43 engines use of exhuast vents improving thrust. You can see them on the model in game on the inner edges of the engine nacelles.
