I've learned how fast the la 7 is at low altitudes the hard way... the horror on my face when I saw that thing catching up to my p47 flying straight on the deck
I've outrun P-51Ds while low and in an La-7...they were above me too. I caught one P-51D down low...he was trying to reach his base...I walked him down. They're beasts.

Seeing anything catch your P-47 is scary as hell, that fat bird can’t pull any evasive manoeuvres to dodge anything that runs faster than it since it’s only damn kind of defence is speed

@@tajp917 P-47 is only slightly less manouverable than 109s, P-51s J2Ms and the likes, if you play it right and keep your speed up it's quite amazing what that thing can shoot down
AI auto win on ticket bleed is one of the worst changes they made to Air RB. It used to be only a few maps, but with the addition of ai attackers and the changes to ticket bleed it is now a thing on most maps. It promotes passive play and especially during these events so many people just bomb a base and then sit on the airfield for the next 10-20 minutes and AI plays the game for them and wins.
It’s extremely frustrating. I had a game with two teammates against six enemies and we got four before we ran out of tickets
Yeah.. you have to actively hunt them in your spare time.. even 1 less is great.. i just hate that they soak up more ammo..
But its actually a mini simulator games.. so your flight path is.. climb, clear area, when no more player in area kill 1-2 ai.. then ground pound..
it suck for those who hate ground pound.. (but i find this better than chasing and waiting for that guy in the af) as everytime i spend ground pound motivate the team to do the same and if my team win, they win.. (unless some stupid chase them to af which is what the enemies want)
i like the idea, but man the bomber spam makes it a problem
i think hunting the ai actually makes up for an enemy afking in their airfield. if they dont do anything about you or your ai, they will be the ones losing because of tick bleed, as long as their team hasnt wiped out your ai
@@kirtil5177 fyi hunting the ai doesnt bleed enemies ticket.. it slows your ticket bleeding only hunt nearest one except you are very very low on ticket.. in that case notify you teammate to hunt them all
another tips when ground pounding is to kill the AA first.. as they are more accurate now.. and can kill either you, teammates, or allied ai making the enemies ticket bleeds slower..

The design of this one is so smooth, i really like this plane. La-5 was my first time playing sim and used till I got quite good with it.
Deep feelings about these planes.
It's very nice looking but imo the Yak 9U looks just a little bit better.
I am in love with the la series, the 5 is one of my best planes. Incredibly nimble. 5fn for Germany is another favorite. I thought the br for the 7 was a little high with mediocre guns but I will use it now, I even have the premium one!

I think the reason for so many matches ending on tickets is because people want to drag the matches out to grind the event

Ive played the tempest mk 5 recently and it is absolutely insane, getting aces left and right and playing without paying much attention at all
At high speeds I usually reduce the prop pitch to reduce some drag. It increases 10~kph in the max speed.
Like 90%?, i only learned mec to cool my engine or to force it go hotter and faster..
What prop pitch do you use when cruising..?
Also.. if your engine died.. no feathering control.. do you prop pitch 0% or 100%

They said low proppitch is great if you engine is kind of broken though.. but dont know how broken..
But wt guide said 0% helps gliding.. i dont know how 0% helps more than 100%.. i need more time researching
Okay, now i know.. in wt, low pitch is 100% and high pitch is 0%.. which is something i have been using wrong the whole game..
@@rifwann some plane have different setup obvious example is all bf109 and fw190 if you increase pp to 100 the engine will over rev and blow-up instantly which is unlike all allies fighter but 109 can use 100 prop pitch as air brake which is a massive advantage to force overshoot.
@@rifwann cruising at 0 degrees (just going straight for speed) i start with the optimal prop pitch, which varies by plane, and reduce the percentage when it starts gaining less speed.
Like, i don't climb in a Spitfire in 100% prop, cause it heat a bit more quickly, and I don't find much gain in speed with 100%.
Though when you have speed with low prop pitch and increase it, in zeroes, spits and some other aircrafts you'll see the speed decrease a little bit.
Like the German airbrake concept, but I use to get a little more speed in a dive or in a straight line.

The la5FN is an absolute energy fighting beast. I love it too. Plus it's default skin is pretty nice.

The only problem I see with the FN is the fact that it loses its WEP after 3500m, and without WEP it just loses like 40% of it's engine power

Love props
Ram air helps the supercharger, but really this thing starts losing WEP power around 2km. Over 3km, even if you're WEPping, you're essentially at 100% power on the 1st supercharger gear. Once you lose WEP, you've really just switched from 100% on the first gear to 100% on the second gear. The plane still climbs at between 18-20m/s up to a bit over 6km, and it can do 670kph TAS at 7km.
Compared to the low alt performance it's bad, but it's not useless up there, especially if you have an energy advantage.
Also, this thing has waaay too small of a prop for a 1920hp engine, so at low alt you lose a lot of thrust below 200kph.
I think wt model it somewhat decent, you can test it on fw 190A model fly above 6-6.5 at speed and ram air start to working.
Soviet don't have a huge propeller so yea but this thing design to go very fast at level flight. So stall fight isn't a thing.
@@Zelectrocutica190s with radial engines don't benefit much from ram air since the intake is inside the engine cowling and is getting blasted by the prop. Airspeed doesn't change the speed of the air at the air intake very much because of that. (idk if thats modelled in war thunder)
yeah the la7 feels wonky at stall speed, however it flies very good at high speed, i've managed to pull 14g's at 700 ias. That... is A LOT.
was watching and up until 14:30 when I saw the 2 69s on each wing I realized that LA-5 was me. I remember having a chat with u how I would have won if it wasn't for the p51 now I know I was dead for sure lol

This thing can definitely outturn at least some of the Spirfires at below 500 meters. At least when I played 2 years ago. Though they could have been stock.

I know you made a video on it when it came out, but with the ShVAK buff, you should try the BI-1 again if you can get it from Gaijin. It's an absolute blast since it was moved down to 6.3 and now has functional guns.

@@DEFYN Used it to casually grind the event because of all the easy spaceclimbing bomber kills. Seriously considering putting a talisman on it even if we don't get a sale on talismans late october. Still have a lot of the Soviet air to grind.

I main the la7 I have it organically aced without ge. The shvak ap rounds set the engine and fuel on fire with 100% probability, tight spread, so its hard to hit people. The engine is very strong, and I will never go above 4000 meters. The planes that are the worst to fight are any of the zeros with a fast turn rate, p61c, t18b2, a21.

Nice Vid on the La-7 man, I've been on looking for some. The La-7 has been getting wonderful in Realistic for me too, Just that There's still the issue of somehow getting catched alone by 5 Enemies, and my team by a single Bomber :P

Yeah and here’s the funny part, some clumsy nerd at gaijin set the fuse values to 1 metre instead of 0.1 metres, causing the shells to explode way later than they were supposed to. What makes it even better, is that the problem had been known for YEARS.
Seems the only shells that actually had the correct values, were the German Mineschells and AN/M2’s

would love to see some k4 gameplay possibly, totally not only suggesting this because i dont know how to fly it.
They are borderline unplayable due to German bomber spam at its BR., but that would be a nice plane for a future video. (but there were a few not too long ago also)
i haven't flown many prop planes in the soviet tree now that i started research on mig 19, might go and try out yaks and La's for the first time (still all 10 free repairs on most of my tree)
You're in for a treat. The Yak series are nuts. Yak 3, 3P, 9U are my favourites. They're good everywhere.

you probably already know this, but in mec, if you turn up the propeller pitch before activating mec controls, when you activate mec controls your prop pitch will be set to 100%, unlike 50% default. Which means the prop pitch controls (also mixture and radiator controls) are remembered and can be adjusted even before activating them. This way you wont lose precious energy when opening mec controls. 4:33

The match mechanics do needed to be talked about.. personally i like this mechanic, its like mini simulator games.. so you clear the skies from player.. kill 1 or 2 ai in the spare time to make ticket bleed less.. and go back to hunting.. if there's almost no enemies alive you can groundpound to motovate the team to do the same and win the match faster
it suck for those who hate ground pound.. but this is better than chasing and waiting for that last 2-3 guys in the af..
But actually this match mechanic is kinda broken for ussr that you can go low and groundpound to make the enemies go low which is ussr speciality..

@@Sputniksim idk if you're even speaking about irl or how the planes are represented in WT. If it's irl then your words have some truth because La-7 had reliability issues, but as these issues are not modelled in WT La-7 is one of the best planes of its BR. And also it can reach 740 without risking ripping, sometimes even pulls out of 760 dives unscathed. So its rip speed only matters in steep dives (and steep dives are a mistake in this plane in the first place)

Make it commit to you and drain it with high speed drag

How do you do to take slow but long turns without bleedeing to much speed. What input do you use?
question: how do you fight with energy fighters (I'm the energy fighter), because every time I get into a merge with the opponent (1 circle or 2 circle) and not extending as you should, then I start turn fighting in an energy fighter which just makes me look stupid.

I can definitely feel that buff but it also feels like German cannons got nerfed. I love the BF-109G6 but lately it feels like the 30mm does a bit less damage. Maybe it's just me, I've been doing horribly lately because I've started doubting myself which is a huge mistake when playing this game (especially when playing air battles)
Please don't tell me you use Mk108 30mm cannon in the center instead of the Mg151 20mm.

what country can you recommend for learning the energy fight?
for quite a long time i've played war thunder like a typical guy that does head on and dies.so long that i have jets on three countries so i thought i can play better, found your channel and now i want to get better as fast and as effective as i can.
The 109s are really good for learning how to energy fight because the plane's flying characteristics. When you play with a 109 it feels like it's the go-to thing to do, like a natural impulse. With other planes it's not that obvious.

In Game 4 I saw that you held the WEP a lot and your engine temp number stayed orange. How long can it stay that hot before you damage your engine and lose power?
I'm watching this partly because my La-7 and I got eaten alive by Zeros a few hours ago.
I would have been happy to fight a Typhoon or Firefly, maybe even 2 at once. A couple of A6M5s, and I get seal-clubbed. :-/

Now that the ShVAKs and B-20s are viable again, do you feel like that the La-7B-20 is a good choice aswell?
No because now the guns of the 4.7 one are good enough haha. There is no real reason to get some extra firepower especially considering you got less rounds per gun
