    We have a twin bag setup for a Cub Cadet LT1046. It does ok, but I see this reducing the trips to our dumping area on the property. I'd use one of these for sure with a set of mulching blades also. That being said when the time comes for me to make a subcompact/compact tractor purchase, I'll spend the money for a rear PTO powered system that already has an impeller to mince everything up.

  • @eddeckert278
    @eddeckert278 Před 2 lety

    I love the video, thanks for posting it! I bought a 2022 (2021 leftover?) 42" Cub XT1 Enduro this year, and love the way its original blades literally blast out the clippings. After I am done mowing, I can use the blast of air from the deck to blow grass clippings out of the road and onto my lawn. It works great for that and beats having to get the leaf blower out to do that..
    But I have a thought about using this Leaf Collector. It seems the leaves are not chopped up much with the factory blades. I was thinking that I might first "mow" the leaves to pre-chop them without the collector attached, and then use the collector to pick it all up. I don't have mulching blades and hate to pull the deck to swap blades for just this purpose, or hoist the mower up to do so while the deck is still attached.
    This little hack might not be 100% effective, but I think it is likely to get more leaves in the bag before having to empty it.

    • @RCPSU4
      @RCPSU4 Před rokem

      My dad normally runs over all of the leaves before putting the chute on for the bagger setup we run. So you're not alone on that front. The other key I think with using any sort of leaf collection system is to not let it pile up too much. I'll have to try the technique of having the deck up high with our 1046LT and seed how it does.

    Did it ever clogged up? I have a Huskovana tractor with normal lawn bag containers on back and it always clogs up with leaves and grass. I also have 42in cut. Makes it easy go in and out of things. I wonder if mulcher blade really cuts it up that much more. I like to take grass and leaves and make compost. It's great soil for garden. I thank you for showing this. Makes me wish I had a cub myself.

    Go to X-Blades (4 actual high vac blades, 2 per spindle arranged in an X) and suck chrome off of trailer hitches! I tack welded mine in the X config at 90 degrees.. My Toro blades just have a 5/8" hole in the center, so easy/peezy.. Happy with my super vac super mulcher. Deck Airflow becomes the restriction. I added a hood scoop to an 8" diameter flex pipe.

      The extra blade inertia is tough on PTO clutches and drive belts (Big Screech when engaging), but mine are surviving fine. Leaves are mulched to powder, and your collection bag can take quite a bit more.. additional weight may affect operation of some dump mechanisms..

    Yo TRZ! I'm happy I'm subscribed because I dont need any more leaves. I have to pick up 3 acres! I use my stihl blower and the newly acquired EGO backpack blower, which I got at the depot for $200. Also use the lawn tractor pulling my tarp( the kind that as the drawstring) and a couple of rakes. Since the company sent you 2 of those cub cadet leaf collection systems , you could send my one, so that way you have more room in the garage. That's what I call a win-win! All my leaves are picked up, except for the oak leaves that are slowly coming down. So that's another 3" of leaves. F%$king oaks!!

    I have a older craftsman riding mower with the first plastic trailer and this collection system works very well. The deck chute did not match up will with my deck. This setup is not direct fit with older 42/46 in decks. I just cut the deck interface off and slid the 8 inch plastic tube over the 6" bagger tube lower section. I heated the plastic so it would form around the 6" tube by the deck. The only thing I was disappointed was the clear plastic tube only lasted almost 2 years. I wish in my situation the hose would enter in the middle behind your back so when you turn the hose would "wag" like a dog's tail vs to the side so when you take a left turn the hose stretches, and when you take a right turn it the hose get compressed or bent beyond the hose flex limit. Again this is my situation. If on the right mower and deck it looks like it work as it was designed to do. I need to tweak my setup for better hose longevity.

    I just purchased the Craftsman version on Amazon which I believe is the exact same as the Cub Cadet version. Looks identical in pictures. It just arrived. I opened the big box and directions and it says made by MTD who makes Cub Cadet and it is suppose to fit 42” and 46”. Hoping it will fit my Husqvarna 22HP 46”. I still also own my MTD Yardman 17 HP 42”that it should fit also that is 21 years old. Good to know it may fit both but I prefer the 46” Husqvarna for it to fit. Today I am going to put it together. I didn’t buy the Cub Cadet Trailer Cart although I like what I see about it. Only reason I didn’t is that I have a 10 cube Black Metal Trailer Cart and I just installed new tires on it and it is still in great shape only needs a new paint job. It’s the middle of November now so I will wait until spring to either Spray it by thinning down a quart of Black Rustoleum or just brush it on to make it look close to New Again. I have had that Brinkley cart since I believe the mid 80’s. It sits outside in all weather and has held up quite well. No complaints. Oh I should mention for others reading here the Craftsman version of this leaf bagging system sells for the exact same price as the Cub Cadet Version. I got mine on Amazon delivered for free. Home Depot didn’t have it at the store by me. I checked there first but I believe I would of had to pick it up at the store when it came in and wait about 2 weeks. That can be a hazzle at times.

      Looks like I screwed up. I didn't realize a Huskie Lawn Tractor was different from a Husqvarna Lawn Tractor. MTD makes Huskie so I purchased this leaf bagger and it won't fit my Husqvarna 22HP 46" Lawn Tractor. I aligned the Shoot that came in the box up with the area on the Husqvarna and it is too small for the large opening on the Husqvarna. Now What? I am going to do little more research to see if I could figure something else. After spending $400 on this set up I have to be honest I am not looking to spend more money just to make it work with my Lawn Tractor unless a minor expense.

    • @ffas23
      @ffas23 Před 2 lety +2

      After sleeping on it I decided to purchase a Husqvarna grass shoot to see if I could some how adapt it to this Cub Cadet MTD System. Without seeing the 2 pieces together right in front of me I had to take the chance and order one to compare them to see if I can make it work. Best price I could find the Husqvarna shoot for with tax was $62. So now I am into this project rougly $489 just for the bagging system using my own trailer or $62 more then someone else would spend buying it to actually fit their tractor like it should. Peanuts if it works. Better then taking a Rake to those leaves and probably better then blowing them across the yard in some areas of my property into the woods which takes much longer. I will report back if my thought up solution works out. I am sure maybe some others coming across this You Tube Video may like to fit this Leaf Collection System to their Joh Deere or Husqvarna Tractor or another make also if I had to bet on it.

    • @ffas23
      @ffas23 Před 2 lety +2

      Ok as most see here I have been replying to my own post being I am trying to use this system with my Husqvarna 22HP 46” Lawn Tractor I purchased in 2018 to replace my 1999-2000 17HP Yardman tractor 42” that I still own as a backup. It’s old but it still runs fine. For what I would of got for it if I sold it, it was worth keeping. Glad I did being from what I understand this bagging systems leaf shoot should fit it. I had to buy a Husqvarna 46” shoot for my other tractor I mentioned above. Well that shoot fits but a quick look at it it’s probably 10”-12” shorter then the one that came in this Leaf bagger system. The only possible problem I see is after watching both video’s the leaf hose is going to fit the shoot very loosely compared to the Cub Cadet shoot and being the Husqvarna shoot is shorter in a turn the hose may fall off. That looks like I will have to figure something out if it does to somehow extend it. Anyway I just put the cage together today and I am looking to give it a try possibly tomorrow. It was 32 degrees here this morning. Suppose to reach 57 tomorrow. Again I will report back for those thinking about going with this system with a different make tractor other the a MTD product.

    • @ffas23
      @ffas23 Před 2 lety +1

      Ok I made it work and it works great connected to my Husqvarna 22HP 46” Lawn Tractor. What I did to make it work was buy a Husqvarna grass shoot that works with their 2 bucket grass bagger system. As I mentioned prior to this post the Husqvarna Grass Shoot is a little short. It needs to be extended so without spending any more money I utilized the Cub Cadet Grass Shoot that comes with this system by cutting it and using all of the straight section of the black tubing and sliding it over the Husqvarna Grass shoot. This will extend so you can use this leaf and grass pickup system. If you try to go just with the Husqvarna shoot it will work going straight but as soon as you need to make a tight turn to your left the hose will slide off the shoot being it is too short the reason I fund the need extend mine. Sorry for my lengthly post but it was all about experimenting to make this Cub Cadet Leaf 🍁 Bagging System work with my Husqvarna Law Tractor. Hopefully I will save time time for anyone else looking to do the same.

      I have the the triple bagger system and it works similarly as both systems use the deck blades for the suction. The main issue that I have with the bagger system is that the tube gets clogged constantly, especially if there is any dampness to the leafs. This looks to have a bit larger opening where it attaches to the chute though.
