I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. czcams.com/users/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.
I'm a 58 year old woman and I just changed the oil, oil filter and air filter on an engine for the first time in my life with the guidance of this video. Bigfoot Dad, you rock!!!
My 15 year old Troy Bilt Pony is on its last leg. All of the tires leak, and the deck has tremendous rust hole in the top which I had to cover with two license plates. I've got to the point where I'm not going to pour money in this and unfortunately it just got its last set of blades. If I can make it through this season, owes me nothing. It's 15 years old and it's been trouble-free. It's had belts, maintenance, blades, and one set of spindles. I was looking at a new one at Home Depot and saw the Cub Cadet sitting next to it. The Cub Cadet and Troy-Bilt 42in mowers are $400 in difference of price. I think the Cub Cadet is a much nicer machine with hydrostatic drive and definitely more comfortable seat. I like the extra features and I love your review. I think you just made it easier to make up my mind for my purchase.
Thank you, Dreemwever - I appreciate your feedback and congrats on the new mower! I'm sure you'll love it! I posted another video about upgrading your tractor mower which may have some fun items for you to add to yours as well. Good luck and feel free to post back your experience! 😎

Well here we are after the first five hours of use and I have to say this mower is GRRRREEEAAATT!! Cuts so evenly with plenty of power. Also have to mention I had a few compliments from the neighbors on how nice the lawn looked. Thanks again Bigfoot Dad for the tips!!
Awesome video Montana. I bought my CC xt1, 42'' last May direct from the factory and its worked great here in the SW Nebraska plains. I'm not any kind of mechanic, but your video gave me the confidence to do more then just change the oil for this coming season. I really look forward to any future videos you perform on this awesome machine.

Hi, Phil! Thank you for the feedback and welcome to the community! Another video is due out here in a few days which will have some fun upgrades for your tractor mower. Stay tuned and hope to see you around more! 😎
My LTX1042 is about 9 years old with about 159 hours on it. The valve cover gasket leaking is the only issue I had with the mower so far. When the stock blades were toast, I put Gator mulching blades on it, which I like. The oil and filter I change yearly with 10W-30. The washout port I never felt was worth a damn, so I never use it.
Congrats on the purchase, Joseph! I have been wondering how different the new models feel compared to this one. Expensive with inflation lately, but probably better quality with model upgrades/refinements in the new generation.
Hi, Jimmy - Thanks for the feedback! We just got finished shooting a third video in this series a few hours ago. I think you'll enjoy that one as well as it carries the customization theme even a bit further. 😅 Welcome to the community!

Craig, thank you for your feedback. I hope it serves you well like mine has. A year and it still cuts and works like new. I did, however, add a few upgrades. Video coming out later this year. 😎
Wow......the last 30 seconds of your video got to me. It is exactly the reason why I ditched my push mower for this cub cadet for my half-acre lot. Hit the nail on the head.
Mr. Sirhoffer - thank you for your feedback! I think you're the first to comment on this part of the video. I was also using a push mower and it literally took days to cut my lawn. The whole time I kept thinking that I could just take a loan out and buy a rider so I don't have to waste time away from my family. And so we did and paid it off later that year. Best time investment I've made, and thus that part of the video was born. Thanks again for commenting and I'm hoping to see you around in the future. Welcome to the community! 😎
Thanks for the feedback, Bill! If you're like me, I'd be tracking the shipment in real-time. 😅 Post back what your experience is like and welcome to the community! 😎
Just after you started prattling on in your CONCLUSION, I enjoyed seeing Big Foot lumbering across your freshly cut lawn in the background. Nice touch. Later...
Great video. seems i'm about a year late, but i'm considering buying one of these and I think you have just about convinced me. very informative and entertaining at the same time.
Hi Harry - thank you for the compliment! I spent many, many hours filming, writing, and editing this with hopes it would benefit and encourage people. Welcome to the community!
Great video and very informative! I got the exact same tractor. Btw the washout port works when you set the deck to the lowest setting. That way the water gets trapped in the deck and acts like a washing machine. You'll know it's working when the grass starts spewing out the side as a green slurry. Give it about 5 minutes until the water runs clean and underneath that deck will look alot better.
Great video. OMG I didn't know there was so much to do and features available (like to cruise control). Didn't know about the wash out port. I've mowed for almost three seasons and don't have much grass on the bottom. Of course I never mow wet grass. Thanks again!!
Hi, John - I'm glad you enjoyed it! That's exactly what the video is for - hopefully a useful tool. I think the reason my grass was so built up was because it is frequently tall and won't dry out well because I don't mow it enough. 😅 I did totally detach the deck and cleaned it out a couple months ago. Stay tuned for the next part - you may enjoy it as well.
I am not sure why I just watched that entire video. Well, I will say it was very entertaining. My entire yard is gravel, but I feel like I just watched Christopher Robin tell me how much he likes taking care of his lawn tractor. Got my sub! Thanks for the excellent video production Bigfoot Dad!
Hi, mcovey12 - thank you for sharing that unique perspective. 😂 Tomorrow I'm going to Rabbit's house to review his new garden rototiller. I'm glad you're here and thank you for your feedback!
Quick excellent overview and very funny. Makes it easy to keep watching. I got one & do love the turning radius & the top speed but on my uneven yard it is a pretty bumpy ride.
Hi, John - that's for the feedback! And I totally agree - it can get very wearing on a yard like yours and mine. I did do an upgrade which helped a bit. Stay tuned... 😉
Hi, JP - yes, definitely get the XT2 if it's within your budget. A lot of good upgrades and the machine should last a lot longer. I appreciate the feedback and welcome to the channel - I'm glad you're here! 😎
To "wash-out", put the mower on cement, deck all the way down, then run the water and the blades.... Would've cleaned most of that grass out. Try it, and you're welcome.
This video is EXACTLY what I had hoped to see when searching. THANK YOU! At the time of this comment, my Cub is about 3 days away from delivery. I'm salivating now.
@@BigfootDadExploresMontana My new mower is a BEAST! I am very pleased with it. For the first time that I can ever remember, I was disappointed to see mowing season come to an end. My mowing time went from about 3 days with an electric push mower (managing battery power is difficult on larger yards) to roughly 3 hours. I got the LT50" and have been ecstatic about the results.
Great video. And yes, the oil filter from factory was torqued down to 5 trillion foot pounds. My engine is different so I have the horizontal filter. Boy was that a chore getting that off. Its so close to the frame, no oil filter wrench would fit. I had to do the trusty ol stab a screw driver through it and twist it off that way. But yeah, I love my XT2. Currently got the mulching kit on it. Which reminds me, I'm so late on getting her prepped for this spring. Need to do all that was in the video, plus blade sharpening.
BuNcH007 - 😂 If I could have thought of that line about the oil filter torque. I was in a conundrum because that's the trick I like to use too, funny enough, but I was trying to imagine the fallout I may have had during the video. But I do that with my truck's oil filter from time-to-time. Yes, time to prep for Spring because the time has arrived! Good luck, happy mowing, and thank you for the great comment!
I got my Cub Cadet XT2 in June of this year it's a 2019 42 in deck v twin Kohler 22 hp. I can't believe I waited so long to get it. I had a 2014 Craftsman one cyl Brigg's everyone said they were junk. I should have listened. In 2 years the motor exploded like they said. Anyway the Cub is so mush faster than the Craftsman. Mows better, Go over the yard one time it's done. I use to spend as much time going over it as I did mowing it with the Craftsman. As far as the motor goes, remember , a lot is good, more is better ,and too much is just right. Your gonna love it. I have about 10 hours on it so far. It seems to just get better. Now I water the 2 big yards that I mow, so they will grow, so I can mow them.
Hi, Shotgun - thanks for the feedback! I bet the XT2 was worth the extra and I eye those all the time when I walk by them in the store. I'm glad it has saved you a ton of time and aggravation. I'm on the second season and so far so good. We'll see how these things stand up over time. And welcome to the community! 😎
I have a 23-year-old Scotts 42" mower with a Kohler Command engine, and I've never cleaned the underside of the deck and it still looks almost like new. can't imagine how much grass is under yours with just 5 hours on it.
Hi, Rick! Thanks for your feedback. I have a video coming up where you can get a peek at the underside of the deck. 😃 It's good to hear that your Kohler engine is still working.
Hi, Marcos! Thank you for the feedback! They are nice mowers. If you haven't seen yet, I just posted an upgrade video for this mower which you might enjoy too. Welcome and hope to see you around more! 😎
This is a great video though. Way more entertaining than the Cub Cadet manual! This channel certainly needs more subs One caveat, Kohler doesn't recommend synthetic oils until after 50 hours of run time to properly seat the piston rings. Just for anyone with a new Kohler like me watching maintenance videos :)
deweys - thank you for the feedback! I appreciate you bringing that to our attention with the oil, and had I known, I would have used non-synthetic. I agree - I would love you continue to grow or community. And welcome aboard! 😎
I watched a whole bunch of videos before purchasing my Cub Cadet. Some were better than others but yours were by far the best and probably the most influential toward me making my final decision. There was one in particular where the guy was just getting around to doing his first oil change after ten hours (VIOLATION #1). As he removed the oil filter and spilled it all over and ran off to find some paper towels (VIOLATION #2), I saw all the scratches and gouges he had already inflicted on his machine (VIOLATION #3 AND DISQUALIFIED!)
😂 Thanks, patdthomas - I chuckled when I read this. I'm hoping to bring higher quality to some of these videos and I do watch some of them, but usually after I have already made my own (so I'm not influenced on my content). Some of the existing videos from other reviewers are pretty good though and I still have a long way to go. Stick with me and I'll keep trying to improve. I'm always up for suggestions on how to make these better as well. 😎
I have a late 90s Lawn Boy push mower and after seeing this video I remembered that I haven't changed the oil in that thing since 2015 (or earlier?). Yikes. Same goes for my late 90s Craftsman snowblower.
Great video. We just purchased our first riding lawnmower yesterday and it’s the same as yours, thanks for answering all the common sense questions I had but didn’t have to ask. 😂 I remember when I was young I knew a friend from church that had a landscaping company and he would spray all the bottoms and painted areas of his equipment with WD-40 he said it made it easier to clean and stuff wouldn’t get stuck to it anyone have any thoughts on that. Thanks again I subscribed so I can see your other videos
Hi, Rolland - you're welcome - I'm glad it helped. Yes, I think when I clean the deck next time I'll try housing down the deck with WD-40 to see if that works. Thank you for the suggestion!
Update: i love it. Just put 5.7 hrs and did break in oil change. Wife used it and likes the seat adj. I like it and am happy with it so far. Thanx for the vids

To "wash-out", put the mower on cement, deck all the way down, then run the water and the blades.... Would've cleaned most of that grass out. Try it, and you're welcome.
Thank you, Broken Like Me - I'll give that a shot next time! 😎
@@BigfootDadExploresMontana hi
@@BigfootDadExploresMontana I love your videos and the Cub Cadet
Make sure to run the blades until they’re dry, otherwise you’ll be replacing the bearing sooner rather than later. ;)
I had read about people being perplexed on how to remove the mower from the crate and you confirmed my suspicion on just how easily this can be done
Just gotta get on there and drive it off - it's first off-road adventure.
Thanks so much. BEST Vid for the XT1!!! 5-Stars
Thanks, JonWes!
Getting one tomorrow!, thx for the review 👍🏻
It drives like a car , love it ❤️
Probably grt another Husqvarna it's what I know...
This video is EXACTLY what I had hoped to see when searching. THANK YOU! At the time of this comment, my Cub is about 3 days away from delivery. I'm salivating now.
Very glad to hear this. How are you liking the Cub Cadet so far now that you've had time to evaluate it?
@@BigfootDadExploresMontana My new mower is a BEAST! I am very pleased with it. For the first time that I can ever remember, I was disappointed to see mowing season come to an end. My mowing time went from about 3 days with an electric push mower (managing battery power is difficult on larger yards) to roughly 3 hours. I got the LT50" and have been ecstatic about the results.
@@jaywebb4992 - It's amazing how much time it saves! Glad to hear it's working out and that you're enjoying it as much as I am too.
Awesome video thank you
Great video. Learned two things.
Thank you, Jason!
I love my cub cadet 22 koler 46 inch deck. Here in Texas we have the big foot too.
@Chuck - awesome to hear... about both! 😂 Welcome to the community and thank you for the feedback!
I got my Cub Cadet XT2 in June of this year it's a 2019 42 in deck v twin Kohler 22 hp. I can't believe I waited so long to get it. I had a 2014 Craftsman
one cyl Brigg's everyone said they were junk.
I like the flowers on your jeans
Every once in a while I get a comment that truly makes me scratch my head. 😂 But as long as you enjoyed it, that's all that counts!
Great video ,I love mines too💪
Hi, Marcos! Thank you for the feedback! They are nice mowers. If you haven't seen yet, I just posted an upgrade video for this mower which you might enjoy too. Welcome and hope to see you around more! 😎
Great video. I just bought a brand new 2022 XT1!
Thank you and congrats, Luke! I've been looking at them as I pass by in the store. They have a new, updated look now.
The bag of wonders was pretty funny!
M 6706 - 😅 it's that magical moment. Kinda like when we were kids at the random prize claw machine.
Great video! I'm getting my new LX46EFI today.
Congrats, Joe! The XT2 is a worthy upgrade and I love the idea of having a fuel-injected engine. Let us know how you like it later!
This is a great video though. Way more entertaining than the Cub Cadet manual! This channel certainly needs more subs
One caveat, Kohler doesn't recommend synthetic oils until after 50 hours of run time to properly seat the piston rings.
This guy is great!
Ha, thanks, Zohar! Glad you enjoyed the video. 😅
This is a great video!!
Hi, CJ - thank you for your feedback!
Love the cc review, gonna pick one up tommorrow
Daryl M. - awesome! Post back and let us know what you think! 😎
@@BigfootDadExploresMontana and i thought i was the only one wanting one in the crate...
Update: i love it. Just put 5.7 hrs and did break in oil change. Wife used it and likes the seat adj. I like it and am happy with it so far. Thanx for the vids
@@darylm.9432 - That's great news! I'm glad it still running well. New video is being recorded now as we install a few... upgrades. 😉
I have the XT2 .... a fine mower, Quality.
Hi, 3Vimages - I was eyeing an XT2 a couple days ago - have you seen the new design? So tempting... 😎
I love my CC 46", i noticed a few ruts i hit and scalped my grass, definitely recommend lowering the scalping wheels one notch.
Hi, Quarantine Dad - agreed, I should probably set these down a notch. Thanks for the tip. By the way, I love your name!
(lol) at least you were able to keep my attention... I viewed your entire clip!
Thanks, Bruce! I'm glad you enjoyed the film and glad you are here.
great video
Thank you for your feedback! 😎
Very informative and highly entertaining! Ask me how I know. Thanks!!
Good review 👍, and these are built in the US in Martin Tennessee. Where I work 👍
Hi M B - so awesome! I hope everyone is getting back to work there and production ramping up again. It's yard work time! 😎
