Can't speak for everyone on the political left but in my circles the left is well aware that the police has no obligation to serve the people. They exist to protect property, and much of the property happens to be owned by corporate america. That's who the government really works for, and the police are just government sanctioned thugs. Even some parts of the right are starting to catch up on the facts, sadly it's still very common to be immediately labeled as a communist by some dimwits on the right if you are a tiny bit critical of the current state of capitalism. And then there's the whole left vs right culture war, it's so stupid and meaningless when there's an actual class war going on. We the people vs the elites (and those include both democrats and republicans, they are all on corporate america's payroll)
