I have unsubscribed from so many channels here lately because of the arrogance, and yelling wanting to be the “coolest” and it’s been driving me crazy to where I don’t enjoy watching the videos.
You are honestly a breath of fresh air much more “my speed” I’ve been bass fishing for 35 years so I’m not a rookie and I think we all forget about things that we should be throwing but get a bit of tunnel vision, like you said with the crankbait. Thanks 🙏
Thank you for giving advice on the northern fisheries and small bodies of water. Most advice videos for bass fishing focus down is for down south with grass and shad. Great stuff.
Fr bro
My thoughts exactly. I don't need to know about shad and creek channels. Love the balance.
Legit my homewaters have little to no shad at all the main forages around here are craws and gills
Same here. Here in Southern Oregon we don't have shad so it is really hard sifting through all the advice that doesn't apply to us.
Shad is everywhere here in Georgia.
I love that dual pitch that hard knock when it walks side to side gets those fish fired up
Thanks for the info. What I always say about why I love bass fishing, it takes knowledge and skill and I suck at it. So much to learn and grow. Thanks for the help.
Gene, long time watcher and pretty sure never commented but this video helped me greatly. You said bluegill pattern for small ponds so I used a blue gill pattern swim jig and crushed em, first time ever catching bass on a jig haha. I get it now! So now I’m watching all of your jig videos because it’s ADDICTING. Love your videos man and thank you for your service! Getting ready to retire after 20 years and you motivate me!
Thank you for the northern states advice! One of the first videos I've seen where it's not just a generalized for everywhere advice kind of video.
This video is full of so much helpful information as are all your videos. Thank you so much for mentioning pond fishing.
I'm up here in north central Iowa, tried couple of the baits you suggested for September, buzz bait and swim jig. Had a great morning with several good size fish. Worked just like you said. Thanks for the recommendations, please keep them coming!
Gene, always a good source of positivity and info! Have a great fall
I am a pond fisherman in Illinois. The Flukes are 🔥 right now. Baby Bass and bluegill patterns.
I liked your presentation and I agree. The bait are s.mall this time of the year I also done well on a tinsel tail skirted spinnerbaits let it sink to the bottom and they would take it on the fall
Love the videos! Helps me alot with tournaments and just fishing with buddies!
thank you for the tips I love the cavitron buzzbait
Very thorough covering all the baits great job. Thanks for sharing the information on the jabberjaw it got me about 20 pounds of fish yesterday at Stick Marsh
The speed trap is 🔥🔥. I have a dozen in the boat and one tied on always .. that thing is a fish getter 👊👊
Going up to Rocky Mountain trophy lake early in the morning this helped so much thank you
Perfect Gene- really- one of the best "Baits for the month" vids I've ever seen. You gave us 11 different baits and techniques, you talked about location and retrieve, color selection- really well done. Good enough I stopped it, got a note pad, started it over, and took notes. Every month you and several other anglers put out these "Best baits for the month of X" vids- and every month I write it all down after watching several of you guys. By next year, each month I'll be able to refer to those notes and have 10-15 different baits and techniques based on these videos and my own personal, local experience that should work. Just helps to organize the chaos a little bit- I like that.
Man… you’re a genius
Would you be open to sharing your notes? I have a ton of notes as well (lots from Gene and others) and I’m willling to swap if that’s cool. Sometimes it’s easier to read on the water than watch a video.
Nice informational video for us northern guys. Thanks for the content.
Love the monthly baits series, especially the mention of small ponds. Thanks for never forgetting about us beating the banks. Can't wait for the vegetation to start to thin out around here. I don't know if it's fanwort, hydrilla, or watermilfoil, but it's literal thick fields, wall to wall, with maybe 6 inches of clear water above it. It's difficult to figure out what to do in that, my inexperience is speaking loudly lately.
I would run top waters over it, run wake baits or really shallow cranks that just tick the tops of the vegetation, or grab a heavy jig and stroke it through there- get a good stout heavy, extra fast rod if you need it- so you have enough juice to rip it through the vegetation and clear the jig- then let it fall straight back down again into the weeds. Just keep hopping it up and letting fall back down covering as little ground as possible on each hop- you just want it to go straight up and straight back down. You will cover a little ground of course but don't hop it up and reel it toward you. When you feel it catch on something hold pressure for just a second and see if the line moves or it pulls back- set the hook. You want a jig with a pointed head so it comes through the weeds better- line tie in line with the hook. Football heads won't work- ball heads work better but aren't ideal imo- a good grass jig with a pointed head is best. You have to pay super close attention to your line cause you're going to get caught out of position to set the hook- it's unavoidable but, if you're paying attention, and using a faster reel- you can get in position and make your hook set. You're probably going to lose some fish- this technique is notorious for it- but if you feel like you're losing too many try a longer rod. Stay after'em man- you'll get'em.
Same here!!!!! Might try some different tactics next summer and throw a 1oz jig down in it and see if it can fall through it all. I'm in maryland and the ponds are SOOO thick and hard to fish
Great tips! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome tips Gene love it !! 👍👊
Excellent
Thanks for the advice I’ve been having alot of success using strike king rage craws and yums my favorite lures
Other than that Bulldog hat!. Everything was great!. Really appreciate you man for taken the time to do this.
Great bait choices i would have picks all of those i fish a hard jerkbait also. But those are definitely in my top ten..thanks gene appreciate the tips
You’re the best man, appreciate the videos!
I’ve been catching those schooling fish for the last week on one of those spybaits awesome bait
Great Video going to use this in my tournament soon!!!!
Awesome Fluke 😁 👍
terrific vid Gene. I think i felt chill in air over Lanier this morning!!! I could not agree with you more on the spy bait. Same as you, a few years ago I realize that is a killer for subsided schoolers, and they were flat knock that rod out of your hand if you ain’t ready! lol
Great stuff like always Gene!
I appreciate that my friend. I miss y'all
Thanks for the tips!👍
First comment!!! Yea haha thanks Brutha for always making quality content and teaching new anglers and seasoned veterans like me you can always learn something new
I live in New Jersey were basically just getting started on the fall transition today first day below 80 since spring time
What exit? 😎
Thanks for the info for us Northerners.
You my boy blue!
This is a great video. Thank you sir.
Thanks. From Montgomery Alabama, and wanted to change up on what I fish with. I was mostly pond fishing which is a waste of time, and a little River fishing. Want to do more fishing at our dams.
Good Job I'm new to bass fishing
Your show helps me
Alot
In N Id I will be giving some of this a go tomorrow.
Time to use the crank baits
Great info…Thanks man!
thanks for this!
Over here south buzz bait fire rare when catch one on walking bait
Great video!!! Go Dawgs!!!!!
Appreciate your advice. I wish you had short clips with each one on what you do to work it to give me a better idea how its used. I'm on Guntersville with a ton of grass and mats.
Good tips 👍
Buzz bait is really clutch the tournament I fished last month the bass were biting it in 40 foot of water schooling everywhere
Thanks for the previous video where you said to use a chatterbait.I caught my biggest bass on a black n blue chatterbait. I put a dark ribbon tail worm trailer and out smarted the biggest fish in the pond across the street from my house. At least five pounder and so old he had cataracts in its eyes! Lol. Thanks.
Damn who up north already In the fall transition lol. Just cooled off two days ago in Michigan
Hitting low 50's every night in Maine now, a lot better than the 100's from last month! haha.
Good..
rapala 3 1/2 " rip stop works great for schoolies
I was WRECKING bass today on a keitech swimbait bluegill flake color
Always giving great info and good-to-know skills!
Great video. Because a lot of the baits presented require different rod actions and lengths, braid vs non braid, spin vs bait caster with different ratios, I presume a lot of the viewers don’t have access to multiple rods - would be nice to see a video of best baits to use with a spinning rod and reel and best to use with a bait caster - could have upwards of 5 rod/reel scenarios and list top baits for each.
Mn baby!! Let's go!!! As soon as September hit the temp dropped 15 degrees lol. I've had some luck on cranks, looking for some hits on frogs. Hopefully.
I've already been catching them in Florida on the white Fluke w/some flake & pepper flakes in it.
What would the flukemaster be without throwing a fluke now and again? I like all your choices for the fall bite! Great video!
When it comes to frogs I can’t have just one or two. There are too many good situations for frogs. I don’t really get too picky with colors other than I always want a black frogs of some sort. Whether it’s a smaller frog or a bigger one. The booyah pad crasher is a great all around frog for anything. Definitely the best beginner frog. Old Smokey color is great for all conditions.
The black booyah pad crasher is what I live by lol
Great video as always. I have all of your recommendations tied on. Maybe September will be better than August was.
I hope so too!
Great video ++
N. Wi.,, sept. 19,, 22 lb. musky on ploppeR knock off, Berkeley’s Choppo-- the small version… Will continue using ploppers and small soft swim baits all of sept.
You should really try the rapala bx brat. It's one of the only crankbaits the comes through cover tremendously
Appreciate your continued efforts Mr Gene. But... LSU !!
as long as you’re not fishin’ Saturday night at 8:00 ……. GO DAWGS!!!!!!
I'll be glued to my tv at 7pm
thanks for the info. I'm in my 2nd year of bass fishing. and loving it. do you have a video on spry baits ?
Yessirrr
When you don’t know where to go, find some ducks and strap up! Thanks for the info sir
Flukemaster finally talking about flukes lol?? Love it. Do you have any videos on center hill in Tennessee?
Thank you for the great advice love the videos. Question about this video I don’t fish from a boat always fishing from the bank, will these baits work from the bank?
In September
gene can u do a bank fishing sept bait video, high pressure no grass and clear.
😎👍
Loven tour videos! Wish ida found you sooner
It's all good man. I'm glad you found me. I've got a lot of videos so take it slow and spend as much time as you can on the water and you'll have a blast.
@@Flukemaster I've been binge-watching your channel for about a week. Great content keep up the good work
Thankyou for tips each month if it wasn't for you Id probly not catch fish 💯👍🙏😁
Dang that picture in thumb nail is every bait in tackle box hahahahahahahahaha
Well im going fishing today after watching this
Any recommendations for bass fishing in Sacramento?
thank ya boo :)
Of course!!
In Texas rn it still basically summer fishing and its late September
It’s fall for me on September
I’m from Mississippi but now in North Carolina and I have never fished a jig, love the buzz bait and fish it just like u but where do I start with jig fishing
They must be all over the buzz baits.
Cloudy Sunday here last weekend, got skunked all morning.. tied on about everything I had and covered several hundred yards of bank (kayak fishing).
Finally decided to throw a goofy--looking buzzbait with a frog (This thing looks hilarious, bought it from some "Gas station tackle shop".. the plastic bait looks like more like a cat toy than anything).. Anyways, fish ate it up. No monsters, but consistent, fun, fishing. Haven't always been a big buzz bait guy, but I know what I'll be snatching up before this weekend's venture.
@flukemaster - what water temp does that grass die off? I live in Tidewater Va. It usually stays mild until late November. Thx
Northern, grassy, bluegill, pond guys say “thank you”. I’ve seen enough “offshore ledges, gravel bottom, and shad” videos to last a lifetime. They simply do not apply to where I fish.
Hey gene do you have suggestions for lures in pressured ponds because I get 1-2 fish in 4 hours but it can get better I feel like. I use a football jig btw idk what else to use
I find it a little crazy nobody uses a spinner bait in the fall anymore. It's one of my top ones.
Does any of this apply for south Florida
Hey Gene, How are ya Man,,, Prop’s from Jacksonville, FL.
Can I use the lunkerhunt phantom spider this month?
What’s your line and rod setup for the speed trap?
what part of georgia are you from? my main body of water is Clarks Hill. go dawgs!!!! love the videos
I’m in East Texas, (Sam Rayburn) approximately when does the fall transition start? What do I look for as signs of the transition?
Crazy a Keitech swimbait was not mentioned. Throw it on a ball head for schooling fish, fish it on a weighted hook texes rigged for any cover.
Ok man I’m gonna do it. I got 3 bait casters I’m gonna setup... should I eat em? How they taste?
Got this as an autoplay on September 2nd. Great job, algorithm!
Awesome! Thank you!
Gene. How to you manage your catchco bullgill swimbait not snagging on weeds in a pond????????
the lake i mostly fish dosn't have grass it dos have wood what do you think i should do to catch the bass
Heading to The Hill to try fishing BuzzBaits and a Fat albert on the back!!!!
Octbr bait
