- The baits that I'm excited about using in September are all about early fall transition. It's that time of year where the bass move up and start to feed. I want you to be ready when they do.

Went and fished a fluke today for the first time in a while because of this video and crushed them!
I appreciate you sharing the variations that most don’t understand. I’ve been fishing for well over fifty years and even some that claim to be professionals try to argue otherwise just because they have a sponsor. I’ve been pulling in numbers for years both bass and crappie. I appreciate those that have a platform that will share this. I’m a disabled great grandfather with nothing to prove to anyone and I love you sharing your thoughts and knowledge because it goes along with mine and mine comes with years of experience.
I agree i use a 6'9" baitcasting rod and its so good for fluke fishing and all jerkbaits plus the frog fishing from the bank also
Been a spinning reel bait and weight guy all my life for trout, these videos on your channel including ones going yeaaarrrs back have been a huge help in catching local accessible bass, and I have successfully switched over to baitcasting and lures using your videos as well
Good stuff
Thanks for coming back brother love seeing this stuff
As always your the man flukemaster. Appreciate your honesty and tips.
Just got into fishing! Your videos are helping me so much! Thank you, Sir!
WOW, what a great find!! I am a salt water flats kayak guy who lives 7 min from a fresh water deep water lake, Canyon Lake Texas. Very frustrated but you are my new virtual guide and teacher. Thanks, just bought a slew of items you recommended from Tackle Wharehouse and look forward to getting it all later this coming week. Hot but finally slowly cooling here. Thanks again!!
Very cool!
Nice video mr jenson, love the content you’ve been pushing out
Love This Idea! Should Be Awesome To See Each Lure Break Down
Finally upgraded to a good fiberglass bass boat and seeing this is about to make my time in sept and oct fun!
It's great to hear somebody mention using a smaller rod for frog fishing. I get so sick everybody off 7'6 7'8. I use a 66 medium fast action and it works incredibly well
Your my go to guy good advice there was a couple I didn't think about I'll have to put some in my bag look forward to more videos 😎
Thanks for the great videos!! I'll be sure to start putting those 4 baits to work up here in the U.P.!!!
Thanks Gene, i'll give these suggestions a try.
Thank you for this video. It’s been a struggle up here in Syracuse, NY the last couple of wks🙏🏾
You've become my go to for fishing videos!!!!!
Thanks
For me the Devils horse is one of my favorite fall baits. Great video my friend. Keep them coming
Thanks for the vid, looking forward to the breakdown
Watched your spinnerbait video bout a month ago that night took all the trailers off my spinnerbaits my catch rate has tripled on them been slaying for me when it a little too weedy for a crankbait thanks fluke your the man👊
Great info. I have learned a lot from you.
Thank you, great stuff. With so many places to watch vids, I've wandered away from your content, shame on me. Have a great holiday weekend. Cheers, JJ
Welcome back.
I'm glad the tournament season is over. Now you will have time to make more vids!
Love yer plan on the videos...
Great tips nice top 4
Only one I caught this morning was a yum dinger on a drop shot. I'm really new to fishing but the fish at my spot are always partial to creature bait and the like. Had some success with crank baits back in July - August. Maybe I can try some different spots along with your recommendations next year.
Been waiting on this one. 👍
Personally, in Northern Kentucky, been staying finesse small baits. I been using the Garland Crappie 1 1/4" Itty Bit Swimmrs, and using them like a fluke.... man... it's been a fricking slayer lately. Sometimes I get some antsy green sunfish and bluegill mixed in, but both Smallmouth and Largemouth of thei4 own decent +2lb size have been having their fair fun at them.
He's back
Been getting consistent 4lb smallies on a shakey head with a trick worm on it these past couple of weeks, CT area
I use Sufix siege mono 12lbs and 14lbs on my Quantum smoke S3 baitcaster and Quantum smoke rod. I dropped down from 12lbs to 10lbs. I only use soft swimbait a few times without any luck
Poppin perch
Good video
Thanks for the video
Thanks mean gene. I got my pb in northern Quebec a week ago, I owe ya
Awesome!!
dont know if youve done these vids beofre, but looking forward to them!!
Ima dawgs supporter to happy were first in the country!🎉!🎉🎉
Good deall Good Info
My go to lure is strike king rage craws and yums
When you was talking about not using fluorocarbon for top water got me thinking lately I was having a little trouble getting my spook to do what I want I I remembered I used an FG with fluorocarbon one day Texas rig and it's still on their I'll change my leader got me thinking
Flouro will twist. Put a swivel a foot or 2 up and the fluke will react much better. I run straight flouro no braid backer. The swivel is the ticket tho
september is spinnerbait time in my opinion Because last year near the end of september i got bluegill to come to the surface and give chase to strike king 1/8OZ spinnerbait and that pretty much was my confidence booster. ever since then i have been waiting for september to arrivie just so i could fire out the spinnerbait and see ole Blue give chase
Got my personal best 20 inch smallmouth yesterday on a lipless crank
Wow!!!! Congratulations. That's a tank.
I haven't taken my super flukes off since July. Love to double rig them too. Couple weeks ago I hit upon a school and doubled up 5 times in an hour. The double rig is new to me this season, hope to hear your thoughts on it in the follow up video.
Good stuff
That’s perfect 👍🏻 everyone always puts out monthly baits mid month which is dumb because you have maybe two weeks to use it.
These tactics don't stop working just cuz the calendar flips. It's more like , baits for September weather. Which goes well into October some years
I got mine today fluke zoom white color
thanks for all the info .you vids have helped me in the last 2 years since I started kayak bass fishing. I just gotta get better at using a bait caster. what are your thoughts on spin casters for bass fishing
I've used spinning rods my whole life and could finish my life using them if I had to. Started using baitcasters for my power fishing tactics but didn't have too as my spinning rods did everything I needed. I laughed when he said use the shortest and strongest rod for frogs. My old frog rod was a medium heavy fast action 6ft spinning rod. Still use it occasionally cuz why not, it still works awsome. Even though I have a deck full of bait casters I still find myself reaching for my spinning rods. Especially for finesse fishing
How do you maneuver your rod to keep a fish pinned on light fishing rods? Some people say keep your rod high and tension on. Some people say keep your rod down and maybe even in the water to keep the fish from jumping. I’m usually parallel casting the bank to either my left or right and most of catches get hooked 20 - 30 feet to either side of me. I know every component of your combo makes a difference including hook , line, rod action, but I’m just curious about the best technique for how to hold a rod and fight the fish
If the fish is swimming to the top to jump get your rod as low as you can. If there down deep and you want to bring them up put your tip high in the sky. Always keeping slight tension on the rod is definitely important and knowing what the fish is doing is a feel thing. Practice always helps getting better feel
Thanks Gene ! How do feel about plopper style baits this time of year ? You mentioned covering a lot of water ... It made me think about the 90 or 75 if they are finicky or if I'm fishing small mouth....thanks again man , always great stuff
Been killing it lately with all sorts of prop baits. Whopper ploppers included. Both largies and smallies been gobbling them up. Pike also
Just yesterday i took my abu garcia baitcaster, put a squarebill on it and hit a pond nearby, second cast i caught a massive smallmouth. Thats what we floridians get for living in the greatest state in america. No offense to tennesseians. Love you guys too
Wish I had ponds with smallmouths!! All our ponds have largemouth. Gotta go the lake erie or niagara river for the smallmouth. Also the canal by me has smallmouth. But I'd love to have them in my ponds
I haven’t had any luck with frogs
I only have one rod it’s a ugly stick I’ve had it since 2000 it’s special to me but I’m thinking of getting a bait caster next
I still use my first generation ugly sticks from the 80s and 90s. Still some of my favorite rods even though I have baitcasters worth Hundreds. All my ugly sticks have flueger president reels and still do what I need them to do. If it ain't broke don't fix it
Excellent video but my question is why do you seem use such heavy line unless you're throwing though heavy grass or fishing tournaments.
For some reason, the lighter the braided line is the easier it backlashes on your baitcaster.
Go dawgs
I am a riverbank fisherman here in Fredericton New Brunswick. I have to be careful casting up river where I fish, there is a good size grass bed that starts close to the riverbank, it goes out about 40 feet. When I am using crankbaits, jerkbait, I am getting grass on the hooks every cast. I tried ripping the baits from the grass and the hooks still have grass. River not very deep, about 8 feet deep where I fish from. River down about 4 feet since June. Some of the grass is laying on the water. Just using a shallow crankbait I am going through grass in current
Try to get away from the treble hooks when floating grass is present. Frogs and Texas rigged toads work for the shallow water and spinnerbaits and chatterbaits might go thru the 8 ft range better. Treble hooks become trouble hooks with floating grass
@@joecuillo5005 sorry I do not have the picture of the hook on my facebook page I will download it and try to send it to you
I just watched this video from last year earlier this evening.
I would like to know how do I find points in a reservoir. I've watched videos on CZcams and I'm confused. Some of the people making the videos make it sound like the points are under the water but they don't explain how to find them some of them make it sound like the points are landmass that sticks out in the water. Could you please explain to me which one it is and what are the better points in other words what makes the better point to fish. I guess you can tell I'm a beginner
Here’s an old video of mine. How to Fish Points - Bass Fishing
czcams.com/video/661xaLvkqp0/video.html
I live in Fredericton New Brunswick Canada. Our rivers always cooler than our lakes. Our daytime temperature is in the med teens to high teens. I have the strike king KVD flukes. I have 7 foot med heavy Quantum smoke rod with micro line guides and Quantum smoke S3 baitcaster with Sufix siege mono 10lbs and 14lbs line. I use softbaits to top water baits in river current here
That must be nice. Our water here in Georgia has finally cooled down to 27C. It gets pretty nasty and hot in the summer. It got up to 34C this summer.
@@Flukemaster our temperature in the summer was low 30C during the day. I don't have anything to tell what the water temperature is. I am a riverbank fisherman here in Fredericton. We are getting rain here today. Heavy at times. Have a great day and and thank you for responding to me
Strike king pad crasher. What about lipless cranks
I just happened to have purchased some Caffeine Shads on a whim a few months back, and I have been messing around with them. Gonna try to get as close to the suggested setup as I can with my baitcasters, but the only MH Moderate rod I have is a spinning rod. Any reason this tackle wouldn't work spinning?
I fish all my flukes on a spinning rod, I think it's a better choice with light lures especially in wind.
BTW, my spinning setup for flukes is medium light, not MH, because I'm nose hooking with a dropshot hook 100% of the time. If you can get away with it, this rig is the way to go, better action on the fluke and hookup rate is almost automatic. Just like a dropshot, give it a couple seconds start reeling and the fish is pegged.
You have what you need. My fluke setup is a spinning rod. Medium 6ft9in extra fast tip with 14 lb flouro
I feel you can make a spook action better with a spinning rod and reel . Med action rod . I feel you can have a better rhythm with a spinning rod with less stress on your arms and hands being you are holding the whole baitcaster reel in your hand .
I completely agree. Maybe that’s my saltwater background but I hate using baitcasters for WTD lures.
Same here. 6ft9in medium with extra fast tip. Only spinning rods for weightless flukes for me. 14lb flouro also
I think monsterbass already got u beat 💓 but love your comments
New sub ! Liked 🙏👍😊
Thanks and welcome
Fishing top water never fails. Whopper flopper 75 for the win
Hi , what knot do u , use ?
I use an Improved Clinch for Fluorocarbon and Mono, and a Palomoar for braid.
Link to your fishing net?
Pretty sure you can find it at Walmart
I am gonna be honest with you I like how you do your videos the other CZcamsrs just say my top 5 or 3 baits but they forget that people all over a watching those videos you can not just say what works in your area But I would like to see you do a video on open water frog fishing I do fish a grass lake but all the grass is gone now there are some laydowns so how to work a frog in open water is what I am asking thanks
I cover that in the video that I’ll be editing soon.
@@Flukemaster thank you sir
Popping frogs with a more methodical walking action for open water. Try some poppers as well in this scenario
One thing I don't think I've heard you mention is a loop knot helps to I'm surprised you have 7k views and only 30 comments thought I'd give a couple lol
I thought about that but I’ve caught thousands of bass on a spook and never tied a loop knot. I’ve never seen a huge difference.
I'm trying to start back fishing, but the bank won't loan me $80k to get the boat, poles, lures, place to keep the boat, license, personal property taxes... I just went and bought minnows and a cane pole and stick to the shore. 😅
Good for you. I started small myself. Now I'm 25 years into it and changed jobs a few times to do it.

It's funny how a reel with a 6.3:1 or higher gear ratio is considered slow these days. Most of my reels are probably at least 30 years old, and most of them are 5.6:1 or slower! I've always found it easier to speed up with a slow reel the to slow down a fast one.
I know right. I remember when the 6 sped reel was the fastest. That’s why it’s difficult for me to call it a slow reel.
Quit clappin' your hands sista'
I've got a rhythm in my head that I can't get out.
Thank you! Lol they talk about the baits but nobody shows how to use them lol hey check out my CZcams channel I’m working on it and I’m not going to copy everyone else I’m going to go in a different direction but keep it fishing! God bless brother
