- Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha rider Eli Tomac has had an up and down year in 2024 that's for sure. But with all things considered, his achilles injury from last year and his ankle injury that he sustained mid season, I think with all of this considered, his performances this year weren't all that bad. With how deep the field was this year I don't think any of us thought he would be a top guy and he definitely wasn't, yes he did have some great rides, notably his win in the St Louis triple crown, and his 5 podiums throughout the year, but unfortunately inconsistency is what bit him points wise. He still finished 4th in points even after missing the final round in Salt Lake City, though this is partially due to multiple riders who were ahead of him in points earlier in the year getting injured. But hey, that's the sport, staying healthy is key. Still this isn't the Eli Tomac we have come to love. Alright second story of the day is regarding Jeffrey Herlings. His season has been very similar to Eli’s. Coming back from injuries, missing all of 2022 and most of 2023. The comeback for Herlings has certainly been a challenge for him. He went from winning the title back in 2021, then dealing with those two bad years filled with injury and obviously little bike time, to now in 2024 where he is a top 5 guy. That's a big shift, going from The Bullet, a multi time champ, possibly fastest in the world to fighting for a podium and oftentimes top 5. In recent weeks though the tides have shifted and we have seen glimpses of the classic Herlings. He notably struggled early in the year with 8th, 4th, and 6th place finishes in Argentina, Spain, and Trentino Italy. Now he did squeeze in a podium at Sardegna which looks good on paper, but the Dutchman is known for being a sand specialist and used to be unbeatable in sandy conditions. So for him to barely be able to compete up front in the deep sand of Sardinia is a bit worrying. Justin Cooper wrapped up his impressive debut 450 season by securing his first-ever premier class podium in Salt Lake City. This accomplishment propelled him to a 6th place finish in the championship standings. Cooper's consistent performance included 14 top-10 finishes, making him the highest-ranking rookie outside of the newly crowned champion, Jett Lawrence. In the main event, Cooper's ride resembled the form we've come to expect from him on a 250. A holeshot gave him an early lead, which was later overtaken by Chase Sexton from Red Bull KTM. Despite the challenge, Cooper never let Sexton out of his sight, maintaining a close gap throughout the race. While Cooper has demonstrated his ability to make comebacks from early setbacks, he considered this main event to be his best performance of the season.

I have a lot of respect for Eli, Kenny, and the older guys still competing. It shows they love the sport, competition, and the challenge. I was really hoping to see Eli outdoors this year.
Tomac would have won the Triple Crown even if he didn't place 1-2 or 3rd in that last main, so he really didn't win via penalties, just to make that correction for you. Eli may be a little too old to be his dominant old self imo, but he had some solid rides in the 24 season.
You're doing a fantastic job.
Facts not spectulain.
Agreed, this kid is pretty much only straight news type dude we have, it's nice
The penalties in ST Louis didn't change the outcome of who won that race, Justin Barcia did.
Eli still had that race …
Thanks to AREA 51 we will never know.
Jett did it to himself
I can’t wait to see Eli back in the nationals! I hope he be competitive out there! After watching Herlings come through the pack at Galicia, I to get second place he’s going to be a problem before the season ends! Star racing is developing a bad rep when it comes to its riders, J Copper is getting a raw deal just like Ferrandis did.
Without the penalties in St Louis , Tomac still would've ran 1-2-1 . Easily an overall win for him.
Take the Barcia clean out away and Eli goes 1-2-2 and finishes second.
Thanks to AREA 51 we will never know!
@@seanhaberman4619 If your grandma had ball she'd be your grandpa...you Jett stans are comedy gold
@@Peanutdenver this thread was about a hypothetical. It doesn't matter either way because Jett won the title.
@@Peanutdenveryou still crying man? What happened to beast mode coming back and shutting jett down? Bahahahahahahahaha
Love the news. Great work…facts are king, thank you for doing the research…
I’d give him a 6 out of 10. This was a lot better than what I expected. Always great to have you back
Another great video!!!
Very good!
You are The Motocross Reporter.
Great report, sir.
Thanks, Great video 🎉
I like that Eli is open about his situation. I think it's nice racers can take off and show for SMX and still make some decent Money. Be really cool if the GP racers were eligible too.
I like JCoop. No one really talking about him until he sneaks up and wins. Then people will open up, kids fast.
Hey great job buddy. I can’t wait till you’re as big as pulp just keep going good things happen to good people
I want to see Tomac at his best vs Jett. Hopefully Tomac will race next year and remain injury free.
If he was 5 years younger you would, but he's not! He has nothing for jett or sexton.
It's pretty cool seeing Herlings and Tomac keep going after they've gotten older and more banged up. It's a tough look to go out and keep doing it when they don't have that speed advantage they had and now racing Jett and Prado. You look back and it seems like some guys retired because they were scared of loosing. Those 2 don't look scared. It's good to have gritty guys to watch in todays culture of sissy boys. Justin cooper is probably having a better rookie year than Web did. Great seeing other guys step up.
Love the jwalk number plate
Why did is kinda sound like eli tomac voice is AI??
Herlings too
I thought the same thing.
Yea they are all AI. I don’t know how I feel about that
@@scotthermmann4i don’t know how to feel either
Yeah, I don't like the fake voice either.
Ill be at pala..with cooksie
As far as the Eli's recovery goes you have to ask yourself what would Travis do? 🤷
Justin is sneaky fast. I can see a top 3 result at least once this summer
Herlings has alot of winning ahead....he just went through alot of Injuries and that can stall your progress in racing....
he isn't washed up...Matthes is though..😂
Good Luck #84 JH 👍
🇨🇦🤓🤟
Herlings himself admits he's not the same guy anymore .
People are so quick to write someone off ....
I won the Dutch Masters title in High School. Smoked 12 in one day.
Its up to chase...
Are you using an AI "reader" emulating the rider's voices?
Love your work.........F steve .....
It usually needs a year to come back from the heal surgery.
You need to step up your research, Herlings has been riding with 4 broken ribs as everyone in the GP paddock is aware of.
I THOUGT HE WOULD BE THE SAME
Holy smokes. You are using AI for voice overs?? scary as hell
Just say it Eli you got nothing for Jett
