  • Gypsy Tales & Cameron McAdoo speaks on Eli Tomac's legacy in Supercross and why the whole dirt bike industry loves him in the sport.
Cameron Mcadoo joins us after a tough couple of weeks at the office, as an unlucky crash forced him out of the SX championship. It has been quite the season though for Cam as he was once again in the hunt for the championship even after a crazy first turn incident that left him exposed, but unfazed. In this podcast we talk not only about the above, but about coming out of his shell in 2024, his rivalry with Haiden Deegan, AC's mentorship and retirement, Eli Tomac, if burnouts are a good idea after winning a race, the evolution of 4-stroke, and Supercross tracks in 2024.

People like Eli because he shows up, wipes his ass with the competition, and goes home. He doesn't gloat, talk shit, disrespect others, act arrogant or any of the sort. He lets his results donthe talking. That's what makes him one if the most respectfable riders out there!

Eli is truly himself 100% of the time; does not buy in to the fame. Just down to earth, humble and gives his all. HWhat you see is what you get. He is a family man and has a good relationship with his parents, when usually relationships are ruined in this sport. He is insane on a dirtbike and watching him is like poetry in motion. Idk how but when he falls, he gets back up. I am amazed at how positive he stays, especially with what happened last year.

If not for the Kawi causing multiple DNF's he would have at least two more SX 450 championships and everybody knows he had last years chip wrapped up until that freak injury . Switches teams and wins the chip the first year and one freak injury from winning the chip two years in a row at the ripe old age of 30 . Eli's a God like figure to race fans everywhere .

I remember sitting on the line for a Regional Lorretta's Qualifier at Millville, C Class (it was the first one of the year so EVERYONE from across the country was there) B class was on the Track, Eli was racing it, this must've been 2009 or so, and this guy Tripled into the Sand Whoops to pass a guy for the Lead and even sitting on the line watching this I was like good lord this guy is insane, he's only 2 years older than me so he must've been like 17 at the time and EVEN THEN you could tell he was something special.

He just had the "IT" factor plus the fact that he would retreat to his property at Altitude and train with his dad without any cameras and stuff, that mysteriousness also added to the mystique and "lore" of Eli Tomac as well.

Eli gets his beast mode from his dad. I used to race mountain bikes against his dad John Tomac and the dude was on another level, and I could never understand how he did it. His fitness and bike skills were insane.
I remember one race at Mammoth where I was slowly catching him and I remember him turing around and seeing me. I knew right there he was going to push to get away from me and thought, Ok if he pushes, just stay with him, and we can go for an attack near the end of race. I will just follow him to let him know I'm there. Nope that ddn't work. Dude just left me like it was nothing. After he dropped the hammer I tried pushing at 110% just to see if I could even keep him in sight. Nope LOL. Man, those were the good days.

He literally had the last title in the bag he was competing for and blew out his Achilles, you blow out an Achilles and try to come back and win the next year after not being on a bike for months. Even after an injury like that an a rebuild year he was the only one that head to head ran with Jett. He doesn't have that injury, he wins last years title easy, and this years title is way different. Can't really call someone washed up when he won 2022 sx, mx and was winning 2023 sx and had a serious injury that took him out for the rest of sx and mx.
