Empanada De Kaliskis (Flaky Empanada)

  • This is my take and my first time making Empanada de Kaliskis.
    Feel free to season the chicken filling according to your taste.

    Ingredients
    Filling:
    2 Skinless Chicken Breast Shredded
    2 Cups Potatoes Thinly Sliced
    ¼ Cup Julienned Carrots
    ¼ Cup Diced Sweet Pepper
    1 Medium Size Diced Onions
    2 Minced Garlic Cloves
    1 Teaspoon Salt
    ¼ Teaspoon Ground Pepper
    1 Tablespoon Sugar
    Dough 1:
    2 Cups All Purpose Flour
    2 Tablespoons Softened Butter
    1 Tablespoon Sugar
    1 Teaspoon Salt
    150 ml Cold Water
    Dough 2:
    1 ½ Cup All Purpose Flour
    4 Tablespoons Softened Butter
    6 Tablespoons Lard or Shortening

    Thank you for the recipe, can you make the dough ahead of time and freeze it for latter use? Put a plastic in between dough?

    No need to add the lard for second dough just flour and oil is also good.

    Hi Karen - regarding the dough, is it possible to not use lard shortening and use butter in place it? Also, can this dough be baked instead of frying? Thank you in advance and we appreciate your response.

      @@foursisters674 ito rin ang inaalam ko bago ko gawin ito ngayon....pero nakita ko rin yun mga gawa nila from Singapore and Malaysia, oil lang ang gamit! Oil Dough and Water Dough ang tawag nila to make spiral curry puff. Wala kasi dito sa Italia ang shortening.

      depending on the size you want, this recipe could yield 18 to 24 empanadas
