After a month and a half on the road I can imagine you're missing the home fires, even if while being home the quiet and solitude of your own thoughts, on the road, call to you. I'm a single man, so I'm not missing anyone per say, and I've taken a few trips on my motorcycle. My last trip was close to 8000 miles and when I was coming back and about 200 miles from my home base I thought to myself I could stay gone forever. But what I'm reading from you, and I'm imagining now though that for someone like yourself who's spent a large portion of the last several years on the road, everything you see along the way begins to blend together, not be as much a surprise for you, and a routine day in Bisbee calls you back.
So --- I think I'd want to take a friend along for companionship in my travels. Maybe a small dog. I don't know Sterling, but you give those of us that have wanderlust a true picture and invoke thoughts of the good and bad realities of life on the road, and truly, I thank you for your videos and your thoughts.....

I really enjoy watching the round the world bikers, the ones who have been on the road for years, one Dutch and one Ozzie for example, both exceptional ladies doing what they love most. I know I will never do the same, when I was younger I was into sailing, professionally and for fun, only recently have I fallen in love with biking. A great sport, but quite a bit more dangerous than sailing, but hey, you only live once as they say, make the most of it.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Sterling, I am following your adventures and most recently the one up here to Vancouver Island BC. Much appreciated as I have toured extensively for 20 years in Europe and understand the work that goes into the soul searching on the journeys. Your videos are very down to earth and real and most of all tell a story. I like how you have taken the time and added the characters along the way. Reminds me of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance sort of read but in a video (if that makes any sense!) Funny though two of my favourite channels are both based in Arizona, yours and "Tinkering with Harley's". Must be the water down there, could be worth a visit! @Liberty4Ever Před rokem

It's too easy to surrender to the immersive experience of these gorgeous travel documentaries, and that's no doubt the intention, but I'm making a conscious effort to look at every wonderful episode from the filmmaker's perspective, not only to recognize the enormous effort required to set up the shots, but in many cases, to try to reverse engineer how a shot was made. For example: 2:49 - For the great shot of riding out of camp from a perspective that's out in the lake... was a camera on a tripod in the shallow lake edge? Was there a convenient log protruding from the water, but still requiring some wading into the lake? Sterling didn't look soggy as he rode away. Was the drone hovering over the lake? However the movie magic was done, it's appreciated.
9:30 - Great advice. We don't need to spend months on the road to get the experience. A week is great. A long weekend could suffice. Even an overnight motorcycle camping trip is better than no trip.

I appreciate this more than words can explain. I Identify with your struggles of staying motivated and positive on an extended trip. It’s easy to get bored. Everything becomes the same and things become a chore. Moderation is good as you said a few days to a week at most. I don’t know how you could do it for 45 days without having a few mental breakdowns and just make a beeline back to the AZ border. I have found that quite often. The planning and anticipation of a trip is far more exciting than the execution….
