  • In this video, we explain what float switches are and how they're used in the septic industry. We cover the difference between:
00:37 - Pump Switches vs. Control Switches
02:54 - Normally Open vs. Normally Closed
    03:56 - Mechanical vs. Mercury
    04:33 - Specialty Floats
05:35 - Different colored caps on select SJE Rhombus mechanical control switches

What an excellent product presentation 👍
Textbook perfect with product applications... besides your products are great.
If i can suggest a new targeted profit center on "smart pump control". I have built a prototype with a German electronic soft-starter zero-crossing and a 30Amps relay.
    🙂

Thank you for the video. I found out my waste water sump pit had a sump pump instead of a sewage pump. The sewage pump i bought had one of these floats and i didnt understand it

some places use the terms NO and NC, some places uses the high level and low level, im in a new home with a TA AB-01H kit installed underground, now i dont have a continuity with the alarm float, i dont know if its ok or not.. and the alarm box makes free games... random chirps, and sometimes constant alarm and the hush button does not always work, like randomly, nothing was physicaly damaged..

Question: I have a float switch that has gone out in my septic tank and it's tethered near the base of the tank about 6 feet from the top of the tank. I can get the old switch out by cutting the plug side and pulling the bulb side up pulling the cord through the tether strap. My question is can I get the new float switch down there and tethered without actually climbing into the tank? Can I tether it on to a weighted post and just lower that in?

Hi sntemp! In the industry, many installers will use a spare piece of pipe or stainless-steel chain with an anchor mounted to the top tank or the discharge line that a person could attach the float to. This method allows easier maintenance when servicing the system. However, we recommend that you contact your septic installer for safety and system integrity.

@@sjerhombus thanks, I went with the stainless chain method. After about 10 days I checked the tank and it is working HOWEVER that stainless chain turned brown with some sort of spores on it really quick. I’m shocked how quickly that chain turned in just 10 days.

@@sntemp Apologies, we didn't discuss the rating of stainless steel. A build up of deposits or corrosion can form on just about any material that is introduced into a septic tank due to the harsh environment and vast chemical makeup. You will want to confirm that you have 316 rated stainless steel or better, as 316 stainless contains molybdenum, which drastically enhances corrosion resistance compared to 304 rated stainless steel and greatly increase the lifespan of the chain. It's a bit complicated, but we hope this helps!

I never had a well before and I'm confused about the float direction. Float up turns water off , down turns on. My new float in down position turns water on. I need a float that turns water off at top position. Help ?

Not useful for the perforated 4" well. Tight space.
