Don't Put Coffee In Your Luggage and 23 Other Tips
Vložit
- čas přidán 25. 02. 2020
- When you're getting ready for a flight, two main things you might be worried about is how to stuff all your travel essentials into your modest-sized suitcase and how to get through the security screening as fast as possible. Interestingly, both of these things depend on how carefully and thoughtfully you pack your carry-on and checked luggage.
Do you know, for example, that if you don't charge your laptop before the flight, it may be confiscated? Packing an electric brush in your carry-on may land you in trouble at the security check.

SUMMARY:
- Leaving your electric brush in your checked suitcase will make passing the security scanning easier for you.
- If you have a lot of clothes, it's better to use special compression storage bags.
- If you want to take a clutch or some other kind of a mini-bag, you may be asked to pack it inside your carry-on.
- Both your carry-on and checked luggage pass through an X-ray scanner. It can't see through the aluminum foil because this material effectively blocks X-rays.
- When you're traveling with a single carry-on bag, take advantage of sample-sizes! The most experienced travelers collect all the samples they get and take them on a trip.
- If you don't have special shoe bags for keeping your dirty footwear, pack your shoes in cheap plastic shower caps.
- Suitcases do tend to get lost from time to time. Imagine your chargers being gone along with your bag!
- Put some sheets of tissue paper between your folded clothes. Many travelers swear that by minimizing the pressure and friction, this simple action reduces wrinkles.
- While packing your bag, stuff your shoes with socks, ties, and other small objects.
- Compressing your bag by zipping it often helps to create more space inside.
- To prevent your chargers from getting tangled (ugh!), you can store them in sunglasses cases.
- If you're traveling with a backpack, make sure that its center of gravity is as stable as possible. Pack the heavy gear so that it's closer to your back and somewhere in the middle of the bag.
- Experts recommend to roll your clothes when you're traveling with a backpack and fold them if you bring along a suitcase.

Hey guys! What's your favorite type of coffee? (I love cappuccino! ☕)
Same for me
I love Mocha!
Frapaccion (the one from Starbucks can't spell it 😂)

Americano
I’m a world traveler, never had problems with my electric toothbrush and coffee that I packed in my checked luggage.
It's mostly us Americans that have to deal with insane airport security.
watchdealer11 that’s not true
London valentine Friedland United, delta, American airlines
I brought back coffee n cookies from holland to america and my expensive luggage was ruined by the time i got it back, A Day after i was home. Ill nvr bring back food again. Wasnt worth losing my luggage. Looked like my luggage fell out of the plane, it was so bad. All the wheels broken, the metal logo on front half hanging off, lock missing and all the deco on the front some how half scrapped off. And i had to file for missing luggage n wait to recieve it at my home the next day.
Same here. My husband and I always bring several bags of Swedish coffee to the states when we visit - never had an issue
The trouble with vacuum packing clothes. Is that it’s likely you won’t have a vacuum to repack your worn clothes to come home. Meaning if you used it to fit more things into your bag, you’ll have less room returning.
There's this kind of packaging that you need to roll, so all air be forced out before you sealed it. No need vaccum machine, just a bit of human power, esp. when we use larger sizes 😅 It worked well for me though..
Packing cubes and compression stuff sacks.
I bought a set of vacuum bags that comes with a manual pump. May take a little longer but works very well.
Just sit on it. All the air leaves
I have a bag that’s the size of a carryon, but it’s a backpack. It has compression straps on the outside, so you can tighten it up after you’ve packed it! Works great!
I too never had any problem carrying coffee. Thank you for the tips
I've always wrapped all my clothing in tissue paper. It really does work for keeping everything fresh and the clothes dryer sheets I pack. But i use them at home too in all my drawers theyre fabulous for keeping things fresh.
These are really neat tips for packing! Thank you for posting!
Put all liquids 3 ounces or less in a ziplock bag . Also put passports , tickets , and other important papers in a seperate ziplock bag in case liquids leak or in case of rain .
I have to take castor oil 5litres. And it's critical to take it what should I do. Please give me ur advice
@@srivatsavmattaparthi4915 the bottle needs to be in checked luggage. Also, seal the bottle and wrap with cushion or clothing to avoid breakage.
Excellent video and I don’t say this very often! Good information clearly presented with video and an excellent narrator!
Never had an issue packing coffee, and this includes bringing it back from Laos. Never stopped.
Thanks for the “bundle wrapping “ idea!
Please don’t forget to pack necessities in your carryon/personal bag! Medication, glasses, toiletries, chargers, a change of underwear and something to sleep in if you get stranded. I usually take a large sleep shirt. They don’t take up much room. I’ve been stuck overnight many times, and doing this makes everything so much easier.
great tips thank you
And a swimsuit if it's an island vacay
Smart, thank you 😊

I prefer a camisole and yoga pants as sleep wear. Takes up very little room. Or depending on the season, can be worn under your clothing as an extra layer.
NO LITHIUM NO! We are not allowed to pack lithium ion batteries into our checked luggage. We are only allowed to take in our carry on. The reason being that checked baggage in the hold could have the lithium batteries start a fire and no one would be the wiser until it is far too late. It may not be ideal to have that lithium ion battery fire take place in the cabin instead, where there are special bags for containing such an event. If you follow this particular advice of the video, you will be putting yourself and all of the other passengers at risk.
Well said Josh Anderson. I don’t understand why this video recommends what the airlines prohibit to do in regard to lithium batteries. They must be put in the carry on bags and not in checked bags.
I’ve packed lithium battery’s. It depends on the watts of the battery.
Items with lithium in device are only allowed on carry ons.
Finally someone said it
safety first. do you really want to risk a airplane fire in mid-air while you are on it
2. several airlines explicitly forbid putting lithium batteries into checked baggage, it is only allowed in carry on despite what is described here. It is easier to detect faulty batteries in the cabin and deal with them.
I can confirm based on recent travel between the US and Europe. No lithium batteries were allowed in checked baggage, they asked at each check-in.
That was noted
in this.
so…. what about r18 - ehem - objects?
they also sell special fire proof battery cases
Thank you!
Thank for helpful tips👍🏽

I was wondering how to pack my trimmer with its combs and all...after watching your video i got idea of packing it in a sunglasses box...👍 thanks for indirect help

Awesome explanation.. 💕 Thanks sir.
Nice video, thanks for sharing.
Once when I arrived at the Amsterdam airport from South America, a sniffer dog started checking us ( may be for narcotics). When the German Shepherd came to me he 'sniffed' that I was an environmentalist and an ardent dog-lover. He started rolling over as if he had met a long lost friend. Finally, I had to pet and caress him, to the embarrassment of the Dutch security staff.
That is So Sweet!!!
Honestly I love watching all these videos it makes me feel a little smarter after watching them .
Yes this will be very useful for my flight to the kitchen.
Hahahaha
Always cracks me up when these videos give tip number 1. Great for getting there, but what about getting all that stuff in the bag on your way home? Are you supposed to pack the vacuum with all the space you saved? Stoopid
I go to the Philippines several times a year, basically spend half my time there. I bring coffee from the US every time. No problems. Actually it's nice because the bags of coffee I have are equiped with one-way air valves and at cruising altitude most of the air has escaped. Once we have landed, the bags of coffee are vacuum sealed bricks basically haha. Keeps them fresher longer imo
Can we pack coffee powder in luggage bags?
So funny, I came to the comments section to also write about the coffee bean bricks! LOL
Is medicines without prescription and unpakaged food item allowed while boarding through phillipine flight..?
INFORMATIVE AND HELPFUL
The coffee starts at 4:02
Coffee powder is allowed?
Thank you!

I am a life traveler but there were still a few points that I could learn here good info.
What really helped me the most is tip 21 Dryer sheets work so well i have never thought of this before but now bright side told me Thanks bright side
You can put the used dryer sheets in your shoes before putting your socks and other things in your shoes.
I once got stopped at the airport security check because I had one of those bluetooth trackers inside my carry-on, that apparently are not TSA compliant. Had no clue about it! I now bought a TSA compliant tracker, GEGO, works pretty well.
So did they take your tracker or what? Also what makes one TSA compliant vs another.
@@jayasmrmore3687 Guarantee TSA did not take the tracker, they could care less about those things, just another BS story
Thank you for this.
THANKS FOR ADVICE.

We take our own coffee to and from Bali every time (approx twice a year) We always declare it and have never had an issue. I love the large IKEA ziplock bags for storing shoes.

I hope we will be able use these tips soon
Never bring bottles of liquid, not even face cream in your carry bag, they will ask you to throw it no matter how expensive it is! Put it in the big luggage.
Thankyou
Thanks for help methods
Great enjoyed and enlightened
Realy helpful video
I like your video so much thank you
Thanks for sharing
I had my phillips norelco electric tooth brush in my backpack passing through 4 screenings in 3 different countries including US and it was not an issue what so ever at any of those destinations. I even had 18650 batteries for my vape gear and only once was I detained because I carried too many pairs lol
Yeah many airlines require Li-On batteries only in carry on. If there is a problem in flight it can be detected early.
The video mentioned checked baggage, not carry-ons :)
THANKS SO MUCH !!!
I bring coffee all the time when I travel. I understand the issue but never had any problems with it. This is more to do with US flights perhaps.
Me too
I brought coffee into the us.
Not really either. I bring coffee from Colombia to the US all the time. No problem. No additional security checks on either checked or carry on luggage. This video is not exactly bright.
Another reason to avoid the U.S. .
I checked in at least 6 glass coffee container in my hand carry from Vancouver BC to Portland OR and didnt have problems.
Cool,amazing,fantastic etc video
My friend and I had our bags pulled and searched because we both had 6 bags each of 100% Kona coffee from the Big Island! My friend sent us home with high end coffee for gifts for family and friends.. I thought for sure they were gonna ask us about all our fishing gear because we flew there for an Ulua fishing tournament and they wanted to inspect gear that showed up on the xray scanner. They even called for backup while they questioned us about the dozen foil coffee packages that showed up as square black blobs that they thought was contraband! We almost missed our flight because the search took so long! I guess the Big Island isn't only known for awesome Kona coffee!😁🤙🏽
Checked or carryon bags?
@jayasmrmore3687 our bags were carry on.
Thanks for this. I'm going to a resort this weekend.
Very useful ❤
Rolling, definitely rolling whether in a backpack or suitcase.

Hello i love your video about packing
👍👍😁😁😁😁
Thanks for the tip with dryer sheets. To me, gass cases are heavy for wires. I put them in zip lock bags.
Thanks a lot💘
5 years ago I took a couple 3 pounds bags of coffee in my suitcase. Didn't have a problem. When I got home a friend sometimes smugglers pack drugs in coffee. Wow! On the trip back, without coffee, they did go through my luggage. They messed everything up. I found a note from TSA.😳
I love a Vanilla latte. Nice video!
Watching this because going home today 🥰 & also its my second time travelling in air 👍👍
Good bright side you show things bright only
Love you bright side.
Thank you soo much
Before Starbucks, we Louisiana People always carried our coffee with us when traveling.
I've never had an issue with bringing coffee back. However, I pack it in a carryon bag in a way that makes it easy for staff to pull it out for secondary inspection. FYI, the mylar packaging is also a bit problematic for screening.
I'm early... But not that early!! But at least I'm here!!! BTW love your videos!!! ♥️♥️💖💖😁
Now i know my phone really listens to my conversations , seeing I’m traveling Thursday
😝🤪😜
Appreciated this vid
I will use this next week
Hmm, I was told to put lithium batteriets in carry on. Makes more sense if there is any slight risk they should catch fire
Thank u, now i know.
They actually tell you not to pack lithium batteries in your checked baggage, rather keep them in your carry on. Funny how they talk about laptops, which have lithium batteries and then say you can't pack toothbrushes in your carry on.
Thank you
And the most important thing you forgot is be careful from pickpockets! Especially in Spain!

Thumbs up 'cept for rubbing the wax candle over suitcase!
Finally.... some new tips.

I do both folding and rolling actually. You can fold them neatly in a way that they won't get wrinkle much then roll'em. Tried and tested
An awsome video as always, thanks for posting it, but I have a question. If I use a vacuum cleaner to "effectively" pack my stuff in the suitcase, I then use it or wear it on my vacation, how do I stuff it back in the suitcase prior to my return? Ask the hotel staff to borrow their vacuum cleaner?
I'm watching these brightside videos because I've not been on a plane since I was 6 😢😢
I've been 2 times traveling. I'm also traveling this month✈

I laughed when I saw a candlestick, but thought...there's no telling what people will pack for their flights.
I like the candle 🕯 waxing idea 💡 to protect your luggage 🧳 from rain 🌧 😀
I doubt if the author actually tried this WAX idea. The bags will be so messy from the wax and dirt buildup after going through the baggage conveyer system you’d throw it away after the trip. Better to buy and use a water repellent spray or buy a weatherproof piece of luggage, which most are.
Pack the suitcase nice and neat
GREEEEAAATTT VIDEOOO LOVE IT....
Rolling everything conserves the space in suitcases or knapsacks ❤
Write "Just" on a piece of paper & put it in your suitcase, just in case.
Lol 😆😂

Great video
Wow nice info
I love bringing home from Japan.
lithium batteries are normally an issue in checked luggage, not carry-ons*. Also airlines allow for 1 carry-on and 1 personal item (purse, or other). I have never heard anyone ask them to put a personal item IN the carry-on, but I wouldn't be surprised if an officer did at some point...
I love this
