  • Today we are going to review a 21.5 inch production monitor that sports a whooping 1.500nits brightness…
This extraordinary brightness comes in very handy in demanding environments, like brightly light studios, and of course, when shooting in direct sunlight. The OSEE LCM215-HDR+ 21.5 inch monitor can serve as production, field, and broadcast monitor.
We will see how good we can put the nits to work with a test on a blindingly bright high speed shooting as well as in direkt sunlight.
Of course we will look at the features, connectors, power consumption, transportation options, and usability.

Ok I have only watched the first few seconds but you had me at hello. The flaming finger and hair in all seriousness has to be the best intro for any CZcams video ever. This should be used as an exemplar for pure comic timing and if there are filmmakers out there wondering why that’s important then as an editor I can assure you that it’s a fundamental to making great films and if you can cut a scene that makes someone laugh then you can probably cut anything. Pure genius again from this channel and what’s astonishing is the content here is always of that incredible standard. Thx so much to all at media division.

    • @MediaDivision
      @MediaDivision  Před rokem +10

As colors come up a lot, I will make a standard answer to this:
It’s a production/field monitor. It is designed to offer good viewability in difficult situations.
It is not designed to be a color reference display (as Atomos and SmallHD field monitors aren't either). Calibration only works if you are in controlled lighting situations as your eyes rebalance all the time… like you well know I suppose. Could you calibrate it? As it supports LUTs, you can use your preferred calibration tool to generate a correction LUT. Could you use it as a grading monitor? Sure. Would I use it as a grading monitor. Probably not. I rather use something that I expect my audience to view my content on... an Ultra HD Premium TV. Can't say much about color space coverage etc. other than what you'll find on the product website.

If you test the Korean brand Tvlogic 18.5 inches, the color is the most accurate.
Most brands lose color when they become brighter.

    • @MediaDivision

There are no plans for that. For a field monitor color accuracy is of little consequence, as that requires stable lighting conditions for the observer.

@@MediaDivision I think that's the most amateurish idea
      This isn't the film age
It's an era where you look at digital monitors, decide on colors, think, and produce results.
I looked at the monitor and filmed it, and I was like, "Why is this color in the picture?" Why is it different?" There are too many cases like this.
Therefore, the requirements for field monitors have become difficult and accurate.
I really like this brand's monitor. Trust me, I'm not kidding.

It is perfect to judge HDR signals in the field. As it supports LUTs you can create your own calibration LUTs, although, calibration only really makes sense in stable light conditions... aka NOT the field.
