Hello frank, thanks for the video since there's not much info out there on this issue. I have a 2014 q50 with I believe the same issue. I have a p0340 DTC. I replaced the sensor with no fix. Can this be something done by myself with no lift and such?

      Yes you can do it
You need to open whole front timing compartment

The easy way to know if is that the problem open the side is bad front variable timing cap

so if i discconect the cam sensor and the car turn off then its the cam gear. im having p0011 issue and and have checked all other issues such as oil / solenoid /sensor . The car idles perfect and i even drove it 100 miles befoe the code came back. if i pull the plug on the cam sensore it will die quick.
    thank you

Normally the car wont start if you have the sensor connected if the car is cold. but if you disconnect it, the car will start but your transmission gears wont shift right, this is because the car is out of time. But the problem is not necessarily the cam sensor. This car's timing is operated off of oil pressure. It may not even be the cam gear. You have what is called a variable valve timing solenoid also referred to as a oil control valve. If you failed to do periodic oil changes , then this valve along with the cam gear and the entire timing system could have gotten sludge out . meaning the oil passages are clogged with sticky gummy old oil and the control valve cand send oil to the cam shaft gear phaser witch controls the position of the camshaft which controls timing. I think there is a language barrier with this guys video because quite frankly it is a horrible video and he really doesn't know what he is talking about. Also the the Po11 code is telling you your intake valve timing is off but this code and the p340 code is just telliling you something is wrong with the cam sensor circuit . But you can get these codes if the oil is plucked up in the car I would do a 3 step BG oil flush first( look it up on line , before i start replacing parts.
