So this happened to me while the car was moving, what are the chances that fixing just the timing belt would be a fix? Do you think the valves and pistons now need to be inspected? What are your thoughts

BMW will replace Vanos and will solve any problem related to vanos in the USA. However, it does depend on your year, make, model and vin. There was a recall issued for the Vanos along with other issues.

Hi. Maybe you know if the 2016/2017 passat alltrack has seperate radiator for rear/back air conditioning? The AC is ok in the front, but only warm air is coming from the rear side vents.

that "star" thing is pressed into the sprocket, but you can pry it out and re-seat it to align properly. no need to replace the whole sprocket, unless it keeps jumping.

This can easily be a $1200+ repair being the extensive disassembly required. Plus while you have it open you may as well refresh the timing chain and parts. That can easily add $300 or $400 more.

I am having the same problem however sometimes it will start with sensor connected and other times it will not.
