    The problem is that the young talent that really shines gets hounded and converted by the NRL scouts. And they have the money to offer. Some of the top current nrl players were once union teenage prodigies.

    • @Skybar23
      @Skybar23 Před 2 lety

      even if those prodigies did continue to union -Australia's training and development programs at senior levels are crap and sub par compared to other countries. Natural talent isnt enough to be the best in the sport at pro level

    • @sonofportsmith4435
      @sonofportsmith4435 Před 2 lety

      @Rocco Rossi professional union in Australia does not have the levels of progression to as competitive as it needs to be. The fact that an Australia player could be playing in the Shute Shield and a RWC in the same calendar year is an example of how there are not the sufficient tiers and depth of competition to maintain a razor sharp professional playing body. Also: Five professional teams in the whole country. Not exactly great.

    Makes me jealous, Covid has shut our school rugby down here in South Africa. The kids have really missed out, some schools had about six games the last two years but most had almost none.
    Enjoy every moment, fans and boys, it is truly a privilege.

      Here in Canada the quality of our schoolboy rugby has dropped significantly because most kids are playing for the first time at 17 and 18 years old because of the lockdown.

      Hi John, good call. And we would love to film in each country but it comes down to whether or not the school wants to be involved (in most cases they don't) and the current CoVid19 situation - which as you know means that its tricky to travel and most country's have no sport at the minute. We're lucky to be based in Queensland where we've had very little effect. But it means you'll be fed a load of Aussie rugby for the time being. Thanks for watching though.

    A South African school would be great, every schools rugby festival in SA , the Au NZ and England schools get beaten by cricket scores. Not sure about the Au or England schools but the NZ schools have been traditional powerhouses. Sadly our schoolboys are being recruited by mainly French clubs, so never get to play even U20 for SA. French clubs have entered into partnerships with SA schools like Grey College and Tolouse..

    • @jake567100
      @jake567100 Před 2 lety +1

      The Australian schools have never sent over a GPS team to play in schools rugby festival so how could they get beaten by cricket scores? Australia also loses all of their top schoolboys to NRL before u20s but still do better than SA. Stop skiting about your schools and enjoy the series.

      Peter, last year's season was cut a bit short (pandemic) so we shot less. As a result, we thought it might work better if we split the episodes into smaller bits and spread them out a bit. Hopefully when the world gets back to normal, so will the series - thanks for watching though.

      Hi Noah, we have approached both almost every year and they chose not to be involved for various legitimate reasons. You can’t argue with some schools just not interested in having cameras around. Especially if their team is not likely to challenge for the title.

      Every school every year for the last four years. Both in Brisbane and Sydney. Takes a while for trust to be built and it is really all about timing too. Some Headmasters are keen, others are dead against it. And even if the moons align, their team might not be strong enough to be a contender. It’s a miracle that we’ve made it to eight series to be honest.

      New Zealand pro rugby tactical and skills training is elite I guess. They also have naturally (athletically) gifted individual prospects in high school, skills can be taught to those eager to learn and work hard. Natural physical gifts can't, look at their current wingers for example, so athletic. It's not that shit though, think you're exaggerating a bit lol, have a SA friend that was really gifted at rugby whose family moved to NZ, he said the HS level was eye opening for him.
