      +Rob Scallon I really like that dragon heart. Thanks for turning me on to it. The sound really tickled my metal bone. That Ultra-mega-super pick/bludgeoning tool is pretty killer on the bass. I honestly think it shines the darkness on the almost slappy sound, if that makes sense to you.

      @@benjamin-vx1uv it's actually a lot easier with a thick pick that has nice contours or bevels. They just glide over the strings with ease. Purpleplectrums also makes a jazz 3 size pick (besides the thickness which is 6mm and up).

      Zayac_the_Engineer -ae is usually the plural for words ended in -a when singular, like alga -> algae or alumna -> alumnae. I am by no means an expert, though. Have a look at the link below to have a peek at the mess Latin is. www.dailywritingtips.com/latin-plural-endings/
      Also, since we are speaking English, I know that some people just use -s, as in “plectrums”. As long as we are getting our ideas across, right? You do you! :)

    So I know this is an older video, but I discovered Dragon's Heart picks through this and decided to buy one to give it a try. I was used to playing 1.14 mm jazz picks for the last 12+ years so I was concerned it would take me awhile to get used to it, but I took to it immediately and now I want to buy 30 of them just so I don't ever have to play with anything else again!     I generally prefer a thin pick (.65mm or .73mm at the most) but I have to admit that Dragon's Heart pick sounded really nice.

    I can only play with medium gauge Dunlop Nylon picks and I refuse to learn anything else because I'm stubborn, old and angry.

      Right on man me too. I've tried all kinds of picks over the years and never found anything better than Dunlop Nylon medium picks. the newer ones with the sandpaper grip are especially awesome! I do sometimes wish they were a little bigger lately learning b.y.o.b they roll back in my grip sometimes and turn sideways or loose it all together.

      I’m old too.... I use the Dunlop Tortex Jazz III shape. They used to be H3 but now I use 1.14 because I think they discontinued the H3

    I personally prefer the sound of the regular pick in the acoustic but on the electric, i was surprised how much I liked the thicker pick. Great vid!

    I find that regular picks 70mm and above dont twack as much as thinner ones. Also the material makes a slight difference.
    I make my own picks using a pick punch. From credit cards or ice cream containers.

      +Bradford Stadsvold yes it really does. i have metal picks that i made from aluminum (which i know isnt rocks but a rock would likely become more abrasive as grains fall off and be even more destructive to the body) and i let my friend try out a new humbucker in my guitar with it and now i have scratches all over the body left of the neck. Absolutely terrible.

    The material choice of purple gives a really appealing strumming sound to me. Its got so little of that "playing card being slapped by your bike tire spokes" sound and overall rounds that out. Very pleasant to listen to.

    with the plectrum if you notice on the initial “plucks”(hits sounds better) its more mellow and calm compareded to the classic pick which sounds crisp [said by some aidio nerd that doesnt play guitar]

      I didnt use my Hendrix pick, I always put it in my wallet because It was my lucky pick. But my wallet was ripped apart and put my pick on a shelf until I got a new one. And then It disappeared...

    Man I hear the washboard thing in all the picks lol. The bigger ones just produce more bass.
