This Spanish MRE is the 3rd in our series. Pickled Mackerel, Pears, Beef, and Soup. WOW! What a meal. Join me for all this and a "Circle of Life" kind of story.
That food looks great. Spain really knows how to feed their soldiers. I believe they're famous for their fish. Honestly, sometimes those rations look as good as homemade food. Thanks for the video.
They are all actually pretty common homemade food all Spanish children have, and these rations are planned that way, filling meals made by grandma, not only are they great nutritionally but bring good memories and feelings to those who eat it
My dad used to eat his seafood with vinegar. Not butter. Even clams, oysters and crabs. He taught me to eat sardines the same way. Add vinegar and salt and pepper and serve over saltines.
These MRE’s always look so good, when you’re hungry. That’s why there are so many varieties. I hate the Spinach Alfredo, but some people like it. I would trade that for so many others 😂. Really enjoying this series! Keep up the great videos! Thank you!
The Spanish really do know how to eat great, though. Mark Wiens did a multi series visit recently and man everything they ate was incredible looking. I'd love to visit every region and city he did. The fire engine red Prawns they ate all over were HUGE and then a trip to what's considered like #3 beat restaurant on earth with a huge 10 course or so meal for 250 euros a head was the best I've seen and the price half as much as you'd spend here in the states for the same meal. Tons of seafood and an aged tomahawk steak, all cooked and smoked on specific woods I'd love to eat at least twice in life... This MRE looks miles ahead of most I've tried or seen, really top quality, again Great stuff. Thanks gents for sharing.
I'm not sure what channel it be on for you but look up road trip with gorden Ramsey. He and 2 of his goofy chef buddies traveled to Spain and oh the food they show! Its a fun watch. But I do like chef Gino
Looks like a good one! I've had plenty of pickled herring with my Grandpa (Old Norwegian and a career Marine). We used to make homemade pickled Northern Pike as well. Can't say I always enjoyed it at breakfast but they always had it!
I’m really digging these Spanish MRE’s, they seem to go all out and provide quite a hardy meal full of flavour. I hope you can find some more to try out!
I have a cupboard full of spanish MRE meals. The son and I take a couome whenever we go for a hike. We always eat really well. These rations are the best by far for taste, proper meat content, and a lovely fishy snack is always welcome when camping. We love em
This one was awesome when you said pate boy I remember sitting in the front yard with mom and dad at the picnic table eating that good stuff wit some good ole saltiness and cheese and salami yummy….good times good times thank you!!!!
With me its my grandparents. Mostly my grandpa. We loved pate and little tinned fish of any type and saltine crackers. Hunk of cheese and occasionally potted meat and those horrible spray cheese bottles But what a feast on the lake fishing lol. I still eat tinned fish of all types but only rarely do I buy spray cheese , just for nostalgia reasons and to bribe the dog lol
I order canned mackerel and smoked kippers from Amazon. Good stuff. Sardines I don't really care for. Beirut in 1983.... my Frigate, the USS Ainsworth (FF-1090) did some time there for Naval Gunfire Support.
Traditional pate is liver, but modern pate just means a ground/creamed meat paste -- any of the potted meat cans you can spread that can be found in the US would be called pate in many countries. Salsa literally means "sauce". "Verduras" means greens or veggies. Spain (and Portugal) are known for their canned and preserved fish, once you try some Ortiz sardines or tuna, you will be blown away (they can be pricy, but very worth it -- seriously, make an effort to try some if at all possible). "Caballa" (pronounced ka-ba-ya) is spanish for mackarel btw.
I agree. I bought a bunch of tinned fishes from Spain when a local deli went out of business. Most of them I had no clue what it was but it almost ruined me for all other fish. Their canning standards are phenomenal. But at full price I couldn't have afforded them. They had about 9 types in a bundle for $5 to clear them out for closing. I wish I had bought 2 bundles.
love the "Bug's Life" clip! That's what I was thinking when you said that. Hope you and your family had a good Independence day. Thank you for serving and ensuring our Freedoms!
Lighthouse point makes a good smoked kipper in a can too. The dollar store got them in and I figured. Hum how bad can it be? If not tasty I have cats that would eat it. But while not quite as good as Brunswick its better than polar fish brand.
Thanks for the videos. Lobe watching you Asa and Micah, between the fishing and eating and story's . Keep up the good work sir thanks for your service !!
Thank you for your service. My dad retired after serving 22 years in the Navy. Not sure if anyone has told you this but, for the Spanish rations, the rations marked "A" (1-5) are the lunch rations. And the rationsmarked "B" (1-5) are the dinner (supper) rations. Bee well, & God bless.
Another great looking MRE. It looks like the Spanish MRE's are really a hearty meal. Each of the three you have tried looks like it's a full and complete meal. With that soup, beef, pate, and fruit, it must be a lot more calories than the USA equivalent. At least it appears so. Really enjoy your stories as you wait to heat up the meal. Keep 'em coming. God bless.
In Spain it is not that we eat large portions I think. But we really like home cooking and the variety on the menu, four or five different dishes is normal (including dessert) for lunch (tapas apart). In general, we like to eat many different tasty things a week, rotating a lot between menus. And on weekends it is normal to get together with the family and for the grandmothers to cook incredible things for the group (custom that is also international, and I like to see it.). On the other hand, breakfast is very light, unlike in the United States in general, I am unable to have breakfast other than a coffee with milk, with fresh toasted bread and butter with honey, sweet things. Maybe that's why, at lunchtime things get interesting in flavors, I don't know xd.
That story with the mink and fish carcasses is perfect example of self reliance that we have gotten so far away from. Shame it's how it is now. Good video as always 👍
oh look at that it looks like you've been blessed by an Angel! I told you I was right ......anyway great show love it even though it's not my diet it's still great show thank you and the story as well...tomas
Yup. Our logic is that a well-rested, well-fed soldier does much better than the one who isn't. Just to give an example, the MREs are so good that we (civilians) buy them and take them to camping trips, hiking etc. They are so good, in fact that we also buy them for when we feel too lazy to cook because we prefer these over ready-made supermarket meals. Fun fact: The food in these MREs are made in real kitchens with human cooks, naturally-grown vegetables, non-processed real meat, slow cooked on real fire with real pots and pans. Robots and machines are only used in the packaging process, not the food-making process so that's why they don't look processed...because they aren't 😂 They're just a metal tupperware with grandma's food inside.
Kyle, you are a good observer. Yes indeed, the water went up quite a bit....they started to release from the dam above that spot on the river. Good observation! TFW
See me doing the three day Russian MRE about 3 months ago or so. If you cannot find it, let me know. It should be under the Foreign MRE Playlist. TFW, Carrie!
Try next time to desolve the Liver Pate in the Soup its so good my Grandma made it in the Cold Winter days for me in the Morning before we hat to free the streets from snow it was so warming delicious
In regards to the mink farm it reminds me of the idea that “no one knows how pencils are made” concept. People in a capitalist system when left to their own devices tend to work together for everyone’s benefit sometimes without even knowing it.

I really hope that mink farm is closed now. Animals raised for fur is so very wrong. Hides from animals that are eaten, O.K, Fur farms are wrong on so many levels.
