Pro Tip- knead the sauce packets before opening them, especially the Jalapeño Cheese … the Jalapeño Cheese packets are more valuable than Gold when you’re down range.

I've never gotten sick. I have tasted some of the older ones and spit the contents out because the food was bad. Usually I can pick up the bad food by the smell. See some of my older C Rat videos. TFW!

Great video. Looks like you had two really good complete MRE's to compare. I'm surprised that the picante sauce wasn't spoiled, being acid based tomato. That cobbler sure looks like the real deal, with two kinds of fruit. Good to see that our troops are being well fed in the field. Tell Asa, hey, and keep these wonderful videos coming our way! Cool video pops I rather enjoy the ones that you approve of although it's fun to see some of the oldest of meals and how they have changed or spoiled sometimes.. I like the comparison videos but just 1 really good modern-day meal leaves time for an interesting story hint hints lol😅 have a good time with your family where you are and I can't wait for the next one 😊

The enchiladas MRE was always my favorite. Think the last time I had them was around 2002. They were almost worth fighting for.

Hey yall. Great to see another one. I would really like to start a small collection of these mres but can't afford it. I'm trying to teach my two daughters and young nieces how to use these different items. I already have my canteen and stove and want to take them camping. Any suggestions on how to get a box or two? I wonder if sea water would work better for heating packets.. i remember someone said adding salt makes the heater work better

I might get to melt the plastic packaging.....I'll have to try it. I know salt makes ice colder, so the obverse may be true. TFW!
I find a bit of salt does help, even on civilian heater packets. 👍

Cool comparison, as always. Both meals look good. The enchilada, I never was A fan of the texture. Taste was ok. I wish more meals had the chipotle tortillas. I love them! Cobblers I love. I just wish they were more consistent. 1 pack all fruit, next pack all crust. I know, hard to mass produce on consistent basis. Glad you had some good food, and most held up well. How come they don't include matches anymore? I remember the old style heaters where you shake them and they are activated.
I think because the heaters are water activated and there haven't been smokes since 1972, they decided matches are superfluous. TFW, Jonathan!

That oatmeal cookie shines when dunked in coffee. You missed out on that one. I never had that Bill's Brew so can't speak to that but you say it's superior and I'll take your word for it.

Hello nothing to do with the meals, but a question I've wanted to ask based on what I read about other vets, when you had done your tour(s) and left the Marines did you take your Woobie with you I've seen tales of Vets especially from Vietnam taking theirs home and having the poor battered things professionally repaired 😇
When I was in, the part of our gear that was specifically uniform, we kept since we had to buy it ourselves. The rest of the gear depended upon whether you checked it out from supply and had to return it or not. I think it may have been different at different times. You can go to Army/Navy Surplus stores (or online) and get nearly any gear that you may have had while active duty and buy it for yourself if you didn't get to keep a particular item you want. Great question. TFW!
Where does one find all these different types of (newer and from other countries) MREs if someone wanted to experiment?
A lot of searching and many good subscribers who share (sometimes) cases of MREs with me to review. TFW!
For Ace not making that many videos anymore he's doing well enough to take him and his parents to Grand Caymen and rent a condo on the ocean.

William, I've had Jack Link's in an MRE, I believe. There was one other brand, but I cannot remember which one exactly. I was a bit surprised that this one didn't have a brand name on the inside packaging. TFW and Semper Fi!
Hi...you might want to check out the channel Dad Budget Adventures. He tries to create decent MRE packages from cheaper items at Walmart, Dollar General, etcetera. A few neat things that he mentioned are the Barocook Rectangular Flameless Cookware System and The Pathfinder School Canteen Cooking Set (at least I think he mentioned this one).
I know you mostly deal with military MREs and I love your videos, especially when you pray before eating. I just thought you might like his thoughts on budget homemade MRE packages. And, the Barocook Rectangular Flameless Cookware System is pretty cool. It is basically the same functionality as the heating packages in the MREs but it is a little nicer.

Now that newer MRE menu definitely would meet with my approval as it looked really good. The raspberry beverage powder looked incredible, I’ve never had that. Better than what we got which was either orange powder or lemon powder which we affectionately called screech. We used to have competitions to see who could mix the most powder into a litre of water then drink the thing. It was called screech because of the look on your face after you drank it, as it was that bad. Thanks for another great video brother. SEMPER FI. 🇺🇸🇬🇧🫡🫡😉

How much army supply depots buried in snow are there in alaska? Im kinda started to be afraid of it.
Well, at least those old meals might be in better shape to be eaten then other surplus MREs from other states.
I am unsure of the number of bases in Alaska. The cold stored MREs and meals in general have a much better chance of being good for longer periods, for sure. TFW

Much love and respect from the UK, however I find that usmre's don't travel across the pond in good condition
About 60% of the MREs I have had sent to me or ordered myself from overseas arrive ravaged by our Customs agents. All I end up with is bread and condiments...no meat, few veggies. TFW!

Looks like you are on flat ground not on no roof top but I could be wrong but just looking at the view looks like you are on ground level

I see stomach issues I do not want to suffer from out in the field.
Never had stomach issues eating these things....neither during active duty days or while making videos. They always said that I had a cast iron stomach. Must still have one.......TFW!
