I loved hearing the story of Thanksgiving. As a Brit it's not something we celebrate and to hear the actual words and the story of people who sailed across the ocean to start a new life was really interesting as I've never heard the real story before. That mre really stood up, considering it was over 20 years old. I somehow missed this video when it dropped, but Happy Late Thanksgiving :)

As a non-American I actually didn't know the story of the Thanksgiving, so thanks for that. And it looks like the food held up just fine after 20 years, which is great. Thanks for the video and happy Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is simply a single day for giving thanks for WHAT EVER you have and for what you HAD... The younger generation thinks it is about the slaughter of the natives but that is on them.. It is a reminder to reflect... A reminder to be happy simply for WHAT you have and the great memories you DO have.

I love American History. My mother's family has a connection by marriage to John Alden, ship's cooper (barrel maker) on the Mayflower. He stayed in the colony, though he was not originally one of the colonists. He married colonist Prescilla Mullins, and he later became Governor of Plymouth Colony.

Combos is what those pretzels are and tobasco sauce doesn’t ever go bad it just gets hotter over time. Which I have eaten 35 year old tobasco before and ohh man it was amazing!
Excellent episode as always. I really like that they attempt to recreate holiday dishes to improve morale. The main dish doesn't look too bad, it sure doesn't look like a traditional turkey dinner but I'm sure it was appreciated by most soldiers. BTW, about the tabasco; apparently you can age it. A friend of mine had stored a bottle for 20 years. It had turned brown like yours but didn't taste bad. On the contrary I preferred the aged one to the fresh one which had a more mellow round taste.

Another very entertaining video, really like how you narrate the stories, blending them into the meals. Being a former Farmers Brothers Coffee employee, we always had to be sure to rotate the warehouse stock, to ensure the oldest coffee went out first, just to make certain the oils weren't going to be old. Anyway, if it was drinkable, I'm sure it was still fine. Overall, a surprisingly good looking 20 plus year old Thanksgiving meal. Have a blessed Thanksgiving with all your loved ones, God bless.
Tobasco doesn’t go bad. It’s just distilled vinegar, peppers, & salt. However, it does get stronger over time. That’s why it smelled so strong. Love the videos, Happy Thanksgiving!
I wouldn't say it gets stronger, the vinegar usually goes to the top leaving the peppers and salt at the bottom, that's why its so thick too. I think Tobasco and peanut butter won't spoil if it's never been opened, the ingredients just separate over time. Nothing a good shake can't fix.
@@MeAncientTabasco is literally stored for three years in barrels before they even process it. If there is one item in all of this old stuff I wouldn’t worry about, it’s the Tabasco, although it will separate over time, it just needs shaken. Love the videos!
I think Tabasco gets a little bit stronger with time. I've had bottles stored in the cabinet that started to brown & they definitely were more spicy. Not necessarily a better flavor but they were hotter. The "Family Reserve Tabasco" has a hue of brown.
I will say, the Tabasco Sauce has no tomato anything. It consists of peppers, salt and vinegar. The sauce will turn a little discolored as it ages. But it is fine to use. The food in the second winter was fairly substantial. Look at the size of those fish. Lots of protein there. And a peck of ground grain per person per week is good. Good video. Best
Tom, you may know this, but about a week after they celebrated, that first Thanksgiving, another ship arrived from England. It had more Pilgrims to drop off at Plymouth. That made things tough for their second Winter, although not nearly as bad as the first year. TFW!
It's interesting that you mentioned the Egyptian tomb thing, they've actually found WHEAT down there that was STILL GOOD! And what is the deal with C-Ration and other canned crackers? They ALWAYS taste funky to me! I've had them in old #10 cans and even some newer ones in cans and every time they have a gross smell that permeates into the flavor!
I have no idea why I like these MRE videos, but I do.I think they are probably good to have around in case of emergency of some kind. Freeze dried or MRE
I'm unsure. When I was in, I never went through either of those holidays. I know we didn't take off for Labor Day. They probably treat it like a Sunday, meaning some light studies and drill but some time off for letter writing and going to church if you want. Also, good chow, for sure! TFW, Chris.

Welcome aboard, Michelle. I like to tell a little bit of history, either personal or Historical, in every video. Doesn't always happen, but I try. TFW!
Really enjoy the ventures of you and ace, keep up the great work and hope you and the family have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Gotta get that bird in the brine in the morning.
That's just what we are doing here at our house. TFW and Happy Thanksgiving!
That's exactly what we are doing this morning. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours and TFW!
That just made me hungry, until you got to the Tabasco sauce. Great 👍🏼 video!!!
Jorge, I don't care for Tabasco sauce either. TFW and Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving Me Ancient.
Denise, Happy Thanksgiving and TFW!
Tabasco is aged red peppers, salt and distilled vinegar. Not "tomato based". It would of most likely been fine. Thank you for your service!
Thanks for the info! I'll keep it in mind on the next 'older' MRE w/Tabasco. TFW, Dylan
Thank you for your service & willingness to try these MRE. I’m not so sure your son would be able to hack it in the military if he had to eat MRE’s….😂. At least you gave us the freedom to not have to eat those. Happy Thanksgiving to you & your family.
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well, belated as the wish is. TFW!
TFW!
Tabasco has no tomato in it lol love the videos
Whoops! TFW, James
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🍗
Happy Thanksgiving to you, Jordan!
Happy Thanksgiving to me ancient and his family from my family
Lucy, Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!
Meancient always needs more salt 🧂 🤣🤣 happy thanks giving to you and your family 🦃
Happy Thanksgiving Marcel!
Thank you sir 🫡
I have no idea why I like these MRE videos, but I do.I think they are probably good to have around in case of emergency of some kind. Freeze dried or MRE
Linda Marie, I know, right? TFW
The Pretzels with cheese are like a snake called COMBOS they have a cheese and pretzels one and a pepperoni pizza soo good
Ha I used to like that mre. Boneless pork chop in Jamaican sauce was good too. Two bottles Tabasco needed with turkey and mash
Had the pork chop in Jamaican sauce......it had gone bad and was inedible, sorry to say. TFW!
yes sir you’re a legend bro bro🍻
A legend in my own mind........
TFW!
The pretzels with cheese look like combos
Indeed! TFW
Happy Thanksgiving! I like my coffee black with a touch of salt and hint of caramel.
A relative got my on that a worthers hard caramel and touch of salt works great
Too bad the MREs don't come with hard carmels.... TFW, Patrick.
Idk if anyone said anything or not but the pretzels and cheese are called combo's. Awesome videos man keep it up
Brandon, tks for that and TFW!
If you are in Basic training , Do you get Thanksgiving or Christmas Day off?
I'm unsure. When I was in, I never went through either of those holidays. I know we didn't take off for Labor Day. They probably treat it like a Sunday, meaning some light studies and drill but some time off for letter writing and going to church if you want. Also, good chow, for sure! TFW, Chris.
I had to dig a 6 Ft hole with an E Tool and bury one of those little tobasco bottles.. to this day I wonder if that little bottle is still un disturbed at Ft. Benning Ga.... that was 2000 .. seems like yesterday although it was half of my life ago .. great memories.. enjoyed the video.. thank you for your service.. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃 my friend..
Pablo, what a punishment! Those bottles are pretty thick. I'll bet it's still there. TFW!
Good video , well done. Go in side get worm . LOL.
I definitely did, John. Happy Thanksgiving!
