One of the biggest things that makes Sleeping Dogs’ voice work legendary is that James Hong, Mr. Ping from Kung Fu Panda and David Lo Pan from Big Trouble In Little China, is in it.
Sleeping dogs is a very good game
Trails of Cold Steel bring overlooked is so true, it went under the radar for so long until I happened on it one day, one of the best JRPG have ever played.
Most of these were available on other consoles, mainly Xbox 360, or the Vita.
Which is where I played most of these.
Enslaved and Sleeping Dogs are two of my favourite games. They're both absolutely ace.
Definitely my favourites on this list. Maybe even on the console.
Nah, enslaved has a bad ending, they could of done WAY BETTER with it.
@@Aloyus_Knight they might have been thinking sequel, but it never happened 🤷♂️
3D Dot Game Heroes
Excellent game
I got a PS3 just for that. I used my custom Link character for that. I also made Mario and Chara from Undertale.
This list would have made sense if were talking about PS3 exclusives but most of the titles listed here is multi platform I freakin played and finished Vanquish on the Xbox 360.
Slight nitpick here but Jules kept calling his first entry "Trials of Cold Steel" when the proper title is "TRAILS of Cold Steel". It and it's direct sequel Cold Steel 2 were dual released on the PS3 and Vita and later deluxe editions with some quality of life additions were released on PS4 which are the versions I'd recommend. On a related note they are part of a much larger overarching series known as the "Trails" series, of which I believe all of them now have official English translations.
Enslaved was a brilliant game but the difficulty was practically Souls like which caused me to rage quit one too many times so I reluctantly parted ways with it. Nier just got too depressing about halfway through and finally I still have Amalur Re-Reckoning which is a brilliant must-play.
The reason that game, hell even the whole Trails series, is on the list is because:
1- There was barely any market made for them in the West outside official posts on social media made by XSEED and NISA
2- Most of them were released in the West between big releases that people were more anticipated than them
3- They were released in the West years apart from the Japanese releases due to long translation issues both listed Western publishers had, which is why the more recent entries come out several years LATER in the West as the English version of the series is in a rush to get caught up
4- Both XSEED and NISA are small studios with only a handful of people working on multiple games at the same time, which eventually forced them to request help from outsourcers to finish localizing the games they've licensed for the West
In the case of the Trails series, Falcom put TOO MUCH text in each entry to translate, which is insane both of them didn't call it quits when the games end up being quite successful to keep them rolling
So, Cold Steel's inclusion is valid
@@martinde-serres8724 Didn't say it wasn't valid, just wanted to provide some context along with the nitpick about the name.
Love to see Trials of Cold Steel get some recognition. Great game just its part of a larger story and had 5 games that take place before it if u wanna have the best experience with the story. Downside of the series is its very side quest heavy with a lot of it being mandatory if u wanna avoid grinding a lot
Played Enslaved, Saboteur, Singularity, Sleeping Dogs, and KOA Reckoning.
Had Nier and Vanquish on my list, but I can't buy every game that comes out.
Putting in a vote for adding Eternal Sonata to the list.
Triads are from China (Hong Kong), Yakuza come from Japan.
i think he meant the game series yakuza
Played and platinumed both Sleeping Dogs and Enslaved, both brilliant games
Sleeping Dogs is such a great game and has arguably one of the best sets of post-release DLC content with the multiple expansion-pack stories.
I would like to bring up Valkyria Chronicles as a runner up for the list.
It's fun to be overpowered in Kingdoms of Amalur, good soundtrack, and the voice acting is really good too.
And sadly, unless the next PlayStation CEO changes things, you will NEVER see many of these games again, outside emulation.
Or still have a ps3
@@mattshark7665
My thoughts exactly lol
@@mattshark7665 Disks/CDs only have so many uses, though. Eventually, your hard copy WILL stop working. What then?
@@asdasdae same for anything. At least I can take care of my own items.
@@mattshark7665 That's a useless mentality to have. The entire point is that 10-20 years from now none of the games that haven't been brought over to new generations will be playable legitimately anymore.
If I had to choose a PS3 game for this list, I'd choose Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom
Man, NOBODY talks about Puppeteer. One of the best exclusives for PS3
If there's a follow up and you're in the mood for RPGs. El Shaddai and 3D Dot Game Heroes are fantastic action-RPGs. And they have their own unique artstyle that really tickles the balls (eyeballs that is).
El Shaddai got ports to modern platforms, so it's much easier to get it on them than on PS3
I do agree that 3D Dot Game Heroes needs to get ported over
Didn't expect Trails of Cold Steel to be here, great game! And no, it doesn't have "dating sim mechanics", it's more like Persona 5 with spending time with your friends etc.
I played every single trails game and am looking forward to the new one coming soon.
Kingdoms of Amalur and Vaquish are some of my favorite games of all time! Great video
I am going to say Binary Domain is a criminally underrated PS3 game people should check out. Made by the Yakuza devs, it feels almost like their version of Gears of War
Absolutely LOVED TOCS!! Played 1 and 2 back to back and platinumed them both! Great twists too!
Tales of grace got me into the tales of series. Legends of heroes got me into that series. (Although, i prefer ps4 version due to the fact there was a glitch that would freeze your game in ps3 version randomly)
half of these are xbox 360 games too..
And we have to jump through a hoop or 3 to even get it on PS5
Have to go through the app because it's not available in the console store
And pc
Whom whoa, whoa...Where the Hell is Puppeteer? a cute, funny, gorgeous to look at, fun to play platformer with a great soundtrack that no one played despite getting good reviews. This game deserves more love.
Thanks for including Trails of Cold Steel.
It is nice to See that Trails/Kiseki gets more attention in the West.
The only weakness of CS 1 is a severe lack of Altina
Honestly in 2024, I bet a bunch of kids would love information on what all kinds of games are like RPGs, MMOs and jrpgs all that kind of good stuff. Jewels get on that. We need it, we love you, you are a hero and a goddamn legend!!
For the love of whoever you believe in thumbs up this for our gaming diamond in the ruff, his divine Jules... Yeah boose will spell his name differently each time( maybe a different series)
J😅😅😅😅😅😅🎉😊😅😊 11:06 😢😊😢😅😢😅
@@kevinwebb8295 people don't like you
Amazing! Thank you for mentioning "Enslaved - Journey to the West", I still play it on the PS3, what a gem! They don't make such games anymore... 😪
Is it strange that I happen to love Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning(both versions) more than Skyrim?
I love several of these titles but no remember me? That game was solid and should always make a top 10 from ps3 era.
Eternal sonata. Beautiful rpg. Seems it's so underrated it didn't even made this list.. out of these I've only played sleeping dogs and kingdom of amalur. Rly liked those.
I still play kingdoms of Amalur great game and another great video!
Enslaved was simply enthralling. One of the best bargain pickups I have made.
Err??? What a misleading video title...
You can still legitimately buy and play most of those games on Steam, current gen Xbox and PlayStation. The only exception is "The Simpsons Game" which got de-listed due to expired license.
E.g.: Dragon's Crown, Vanquish, KOA:R and Sleeping Dogs even got re-releases during the 8th console gen...
Absolutely love Kingdoms of Amalur. Enslaved was also pretty good. There are a lot of games on this list I never played before though. Sleeping Dogs looks awesome.
Seeing The Saboteur and The Simpson's Game getting some love on this list makes me happy. Two excellent games!
Little Ninjas - criminally underrated.
Sleeping Dogs is still one of my favorite games ever. Shame we'll likely never see a sequel.
Singularity is hands down one of my favorite shooters of that generation. Takes every awesome mechanic of the era and executes it perfectly. Great story as well. I’ll second this as worth a look.
The Trails series is great, and it's awesome that not only is the Cold Steel series on PS4/PS5/Steam now, but the sequel in Reverie is too. So are the earlier duology of Zero/Azure (that came out before Cold Steel). Only the initial Sky Trilogy is unavailable on consoles, but even that's on Steam. They're worth checking out, though "initial release order" is recommended.
How did we overlook Level5's pre-Ni No Kuni gem, White Knight Chronicles? Beautiful worlds, a fantastic online mode, and a game where you AREN'T the OP MC?
Moondivers it was square enix game that was a rogue like contra type game with branching paths through the story kinda surprised that never made a sequel on PS4
glad that most of these games got pc releases so they can live on in and be preserved. its crazy how we have to deal with the idea of really good games just becoming lost media
I love Sleeping Dogs and it's so underrated, would have put that as #1 personally.
You starting the list with Trails is crazy. Im playing thru the first two games on my ps3
The only one I'd argue that isn't underrated is Trails Of Cold Steel. I'd say the Atelier games are way more overlooked, and the PS3 had 7 of them to choose from. Other then that it's a great list; I picked up Sleeping Dogs part of the Easter Sale the PlayStation store has on at the moment and I'm looking forward to diving in. As I missed the game when it first game out.
All the Atelier games on PS3 are now on modern platforms, so they're no longer underrated, but they're still overpriced for just ports with barely any QoL improvements done on them
ooooh do this again for the 360 but put either Dark Sector or Dark Void on it ("Emo-Krull and the Glaive" or "Nikola Tesla gives you a jetpack" 🤣
I'm very confused by this title... Shouldn't it be called "10 CRIMINALLY Overlooked Seventh Generation Games?" Out of those 10 titles, only 2 are exclusive to the PS3.
Also, props for Vanquish! That game is nothing short of incredible.
You're right!
Maybe because the rest are only titles that technically exist on other consoles, but only after they were released? Like they were exclusive for a year or two before the ports came out, so they're only thought of as "PS3" games
@@Jerga27 I believe the 8 games were released on both the PS3 and 360 on the same day. Even The Simpson Game launched on a multitude of platforms.
@NEROisNOIR huh.. Well thats what I get for having faith that everyone is trying their best 😅..
@@Jerga27 Haha, it's all good! I wasn't trying to knock their list, I like several of the games they picked, but was just more confused that it was made into a "PS3" list.
I loved Enslaved and wished it had got the sequel it deserves. Remaster please? 🙏
i STILL play Sleeping Dogs to this very day. I have been crying out for years and years for them to make a proper sequel. I have beaten story mode at least 15x combined on the PS3/PS4. The story is so intense and pulls you in. You feel the emotions in every character in the game in their voice acting alone. It's a shame how it got compared so much to GTA clones before it.
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames should've been an honorable mention.
The Saboteur, Kingdom's of Amalur, and Sleeping Dogs are all fantastic!
You DO KNOW that 8 out of these 10 games are also on the Xbox 360, yes? I mean, the last gameplay footage you showed from Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning has the Xbox buttons in it.
Binary Domain and Alpha Protocole
Saboteur will always be in my top three all time favorite games. Period. Because of or in spite of its unfinished nature due to Pandemic shuttering during its development, this game has a deeply nostalgic and creative appeal.
I remember watching top 10 list in the early 2010s n seeeing the saboteur on so many list back then
Always get excited when i see vanquish on a list, its the perfect single day game
Didn't Nier and Kingdoms of Amulor get a remakes recently? Should they be on this list, or is Jules specifically talking about the PS3 versions, which I don't think you can get anymore?
Sleeping Dogs for me. I also submit Ghostbusters the Game should have been rated higher. It's not without flaws, but it's much better than most people think it is. And the War for Cybertron games need to be brought back.
I'd add Midnight Club LA...
Wow, I was expecting forgotten gems, but after the first 2 these were all big releases and half of them got remasters and ports. Where was Folklore and 3D Dot Game Heroes? And other examples that I am not aware because that's the point of the list
I LOVED kingdom of amalur even before the remaster
Don't forget The Bourne Conspiracy and Binary Domain.. 2 games I thoroughly enjoyed.. Nice list..
Saboteur also has the best cover of "dance me to the end of love" ever.
YEEEEESSS!!! 👍🏻 about time PS3 was a glorious era! I still play PA3 games I missed out on! Prototype series, Infamous etc
I seem to remember Enslaved: Odyssey to the West setting up a sequel that (obviously now) never arrived.
It was a great game though. Definitely recommend.
Another overlooked games list, another round of me pressing play and hoping WET makes the cut.
Also hoping to see ENSLAVED: ODYSSEY TO THE WEST, HEAVENLY SWORD, and DEAD TO RIGHTS: RETRIBUTION too.
It wasn’t here, but WET is such a good shout.
Idk why everybody rips on Wolfenstein '09. While it was definitely a departure from the other entries, as a stand alone title, I thought it kicked ass and that's coming from a fan that started with the OG 3D.
To summarize for anyone in the comments who's like me and mains action/shooter games, the main two takeaways from this list are Sleeping dogs and Vanquish
The only reason I played Kingdoms of Amalur was it was free on the PSN. I'm glad I did it was fun as hell!
Sleeping Dogs was also on the 360 that's where I played it. it was really cool game that absolutely deserves a proper sequel
It was even part of the Games with Gold program.
Unfortunately, it's also one of those games that's not backwards compatible on the Xbox One (probably because Square did a remaster on that same system)
@eddmario I knew it was a games with gold game that's how I got I just assumed it was on both systems because of that. I mean why take a game exclusive to one systems make it work on another and then give it away for free? makes more sense if it's already on that system.
Edit: I have seen it in the Microsoft store on the Series X
Oooooh boy. I'm about to be spending some money on hard to find games, aren't I
I remember all of them, and played 3 of them. I always wanted to play Nier since I'm a Drakengard fan (also Drakengard 3 while we're at it), but my PS3 is broken with a bad gpu...
I just bought the vanquish/Bayonetta bundle 2 days ago and I can agree 100% it's super fun.
Sleeping dogs is also amazing
Singularity is criminally underrated. So is TimeShift, so underrated in fact that it didnt even make the list
Jules, what happened with your outro’s? Are they cut or aren’t you feeling it to do them atm.
I have Enslaved odyssey to the west and Sleeping Dogs on Steam. I played Vanquish on PS3.
Umm Sleeping Dogs, Vanish, KOA and Dragon's Crown all got remasters on the PS4..which means a lot of people knew about them or played them. If you want criminally underlooked ps3 games, theres a ton of games still trapped on the Ps3..
I've only played Vanquished
Simpsons Game, Singularity were indeed really fun...a few not mentioned, i really liked WET and thought it got overlooked. It did need a little more polish, but I think a sequel would've ironed out the quirks...the bionic commando remake got some warranted side eye, especially with that wacky story, but it was a solid reimaging of the franchise...same w/ the Splatterhouse remake....and even though it was a GOW ripoff, Dante's Inferno was solid.
I would absolutely love sequels to Kingdoms of Amalur and Sleeping Dogs. I bought them both when they first came out and their remasters/definitive editions.
Kevin Butler commercials bring me back
Dragons crown was epic, I loved the nods/bosses to Monty pythons holy grail - surprised they got away with it! I’m also pretty sure whatculture hated odyssey to the west and vanquish at launch.
Oh, I own 7 of them but I've only played 5 so far!
Enslaved should get a remake for sure, such a great game.
my favorite two PS3 games are Civilization Revolution, and Infamous.
9,8,7,6,4,3,2*
Love them, still own them, they were easy to finish in a pretty short amount of time (except maybe sleeping dogs) and I miss unique games that took risks outside of the indie space space. Still need to catch up on Amalur.
Sleeping dogs is mad underrated, it freaking sucks that it is as well. We were so close to getting a sequel for it. 😭
I've played most of these, and I'll agree with the video, the ones I've played are all good games.
*rolleyes* Dragons Crown is on PS4 now.
Something you should have mentioned
Hell, I didn't even know it was a PS3 game until because I never heard of it until after the PS4 version had already been out.
Enslaved wasnt set up to be a one and done, if there ever was a game that demanded a sequal after its twist at the end...
i wish i knew about the saboteur earlier than i did i heard about it once the ps3 was pretty much nailing the lid down but wish it was remastered for newer consoles and not grossly overpriced like it is now in most cases for the ps3 or 360. but sleeping dogs is a great game i need to go back and finish it really and shame there was never a sequel what i played its very good great graphics and story and the controls are so responsive nothing really broken with this game unlike most these days that are released broken and takes months or years to fix
What happened with me is when the ps3 came out I was in high school and with growing up in a poor family I couldn’t afford one. Once I could after high school, I was in college and could not afford a lot of games. By the time I could afford anything the generation moved on to ps4.
I loved Nier and Ni no Kuni so much!
if it is PS3 we are talking about... Folklore is really nice game (exclusive to PS3 too)... I really liked it... even the story in it is interesting... And I have rarely ever heard anyone mentioning it, so it is definitely overlooked
I'm actually kinda disappointed that one didn't make the list.
A great and very different game.
Trail of cold steel made me buy the rest of the series, and this is a long series of long games
Hm, i'm surprised that i played more than half of these, actually owned a few, and knew some. Like almost only the first 3 i didn't know. Two really overlooked that i loved but very few people may not know are Anarchy Reigns (Max Anarchy is another name it had) and Neverdead. Maybe i could add Dead to Rights: Retribution.
Man, there's a lot of games that i would love to replay.
My PS3 just died, so I don't think I'll be catching up with these promising titles anytime soon.
Dragons Crown, Vanquish, Sleeping Dogs and KOA are all on the ps4 + other consoles.
Double digits for a good condition used one, if you may. Otherwise there's RCPS3.
It also didn't help the Saboteur that it charged you money for an Uncersor Patch presented as DLC.
Please cover 10 CRIMINALLY Overlooked XBOX 360 Games next! (Unless I missed that video.)
