Back in 2017 I bought a 2.7 Ecoboost STX F150, not a package we’d now call loaded, but compared to older F150’s got everything you really need. I’m nearly 60 and Sean to all your older followers I gotta say so far the most satisfying vehicle and reliable vehicle I’ve owned, now I’m about a month from my final payment and it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. I never dog it when it’s cold and I always let it idle about a minute when I get home, old Turbo owners use to to do the idle cool down to extend the life of older Turbo engine vehicles not sure that’s needed now with these new turbos , but I do it. This lil engine is just a great engine, pulls strong and return about 20.4 mpg in the moutains of West Virginia. I’m hoping this truck lasts me many years not crazy about the ideal of EV’s son had a Tesla and seemed to me he was always worried where the nearest chargers were, don’t need that. Not proud I do this but sometimes I leave a 5.3 or 5.7 at the light to see their face when they realize a tiny lil V6 just left them at the light up to 60 mph, to old to go to jail and I ain’t very tough so 60 is my limit. GREAT VIDEO REALLY ENJOYED IT!!!

Back in January of 2021 I bought a 2019 F150 STX Supercrew 2.7 ecoboost 4x4 in black with 14,000 miles. Looks very similar to your wife's truck. I absolutely love the truck and have nothing but good things to say about it, at first i was skeptical of the smaller ecoboost being a v8 guy. But this engine gets impressive fuel economy and has incredible acceleration and pulling power at low and high speeds mostly because of it's very light aluminum construction weighs 4,890 ibs. It has really surprised me in it's performance and i've driven the 3.5 and agree with you that they have similar feel in acceleration, but for someone who tows a lot the 3.5 is an easy choice. The only downside with the 2.7 is the exhaust note I miss from a v8. The ten speed is awesome because the gearing range is massive which means your axle ratio is far less important. 1st gear is like a crawler gear and in normal driving it shifts from 1st to 3rd and then to 5th which makes it feel similar to a 6 speed. I've found you rarely ever need 4x4 low because it has such a low 1st and 2nd gear. The other plus with having a small engine with liquid cooled exhaust manifolds is the cooling system and engine warm up very quickly in the winter and almost immediately blows hot air even on the coldest New England days. I love Ford's commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology and constantly building better trucks.

Nice to hear somebody give the F150 EcoBoost the credit it deserves, I've been driving an F150 with the EcoBoost engines since they came out in 2011, never had a problem because I perform the maintenance. I use full synthetic motor oil and change every 5K now because I'm retired and most of my driving now is short distances. I just picked up a new 2021 sport packaged 5.0 and I love it. It has a 3.73 rear end and in my opinion pulls as good as any eco boost I’ve driven. They don’t get as good of gas mileage but that’s not why I bought a truck. But the sound of 6,800 RPM makes up for the loss in mileage. And no it doesn’t use any oil.

My front rotors warped @ 2,000 miles because of the pads had too much metal in one spot.
I've towed a 96 4x4 Tahoe on a Uhaul trailer 7,300 lbs. It is funny because you have to slow down to get on the hwy. If you ever tow with a ecoboost. You know what I'm talking about.

    I own a 2020 F-150 with a 2.7 and I have also been a Ford parts guy for 33+ years.
The MPG displayed on the dash is a lie. Mine always said I was at 19 or 20 MPG but, the calculator showed I was getting maybe 16.5 at best and most often much less. I even referred to it as the Lie-O-Meter .... Ford techs told me that is just the way it is. I said I don't care what the MPG is but I want an accurate display !!!
Anyway after much research I have found you need to adjust your AFI BIAS by default it is set to 1000 based on my numbers from the calculator I had to change that to 940 to get it close. I have a life time average of 16.7 which seems close to real world numbers.
