Thank you for watching. - Jak na to + styl
As a guy with smaller wrists, I love seeing small modern watches! The subdued presence of a small watch feels more classy and refined to me.
Fully agree with you and I feel they are generally more comfortable to wear..........
Thank you
What you said!!! 👍👍👍
Indeed
YES! Real men wear "small" (or actually normal) size watches. I have a number of WW2 watches issued to the forces and used in action which are 30 - 35 mm. I love wearing the small (normal) sized pieces, much classier.
Elegant and classy looking. Thanks for sharing them Marc! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Welcome!
All are gorgeous. That pink really pops.
Sure does, thank you.
I actually really like the look of the 34mm. Thanks for throwing it on!
@Truthfears Guilty there is no "real" size for men's dress watches
You are welcome
God I love your islander watches. Seeing your new releases are my most fav vids to watch. Soon I‘m gonna buy the Islander diver you are wearing in that vid
Thank you
I have a 34mm Junghans Max Bill and it fits my 16cm wrist very well.
I have several 34 mm watches (mostly vintage) and I don't mind it at all, I do have a 16.5 cm wrist.
I actually think that smaller sizes will see a resurgence in 2020.
Thanks Marc for the share 👍
The people have spoken. . . will the brands listen.
But lug size is 17mm
@@sushi7021 hate it when companies use the non standard sizes for lugs
Love that Seiko came out with more dial colorways for the 33mm Presage Cocktail series. The red dial, although stunning, was too flashy for me personally, and the other dial colorways of the gold & silver combo weren’t my thing. I’ll be picking up the grey and ice blue dial versions in short order👍 Hope Seiko comes out with the green Mockingbird in 33mm next...
BEAUTIFUL
I wear a 34mm vintage Seamaster from the early 50's all the time.
The pink looks great. Kind of wish they’d done the blue second hand on it though.
That would be cool, thanks!
Very classy!
Absolutely, the smaller version looks great on any wrist.
Men don't call that Pink. Instead we call it "Salmon" like the fish we catch. That way, we can wear it too. Yes I'd like to have the larger size salmon dial. I'd get one.
Salmon need a bit yellow hue. More likely saturated orange.
No. Salmon color is not pink. Close but not the same.
My dad's 1978 Rolex 1501 Date is 34mm and seemed very small to me at first wear. After spending a short time on my wrist, I got used to the size and now prefer a smaller watch. I have a 7" wrist. I just ordered the srp837 and hopefully it works out well for me!
Hey marc. I don't know if you read comments on older videos, but I have a question regarding the higher end seikos. A lot of the higher end ones that use the 4R35 movement have gold tone rotors. Is that rotor gold-plated or toned with other metals?
Thanks for the posting this. I think dress watches from 34mm-38mm are ideal even today. I cringe when I see a nice dress watch at 40mm or above. To me, size relates to style. Sports/tool watches look good in the 40mm-42mm range.
This is so true
Thanks!
lmao you must be cringing all the time then
Dress style 36mm is seem the best size
I really need to get this watch. 34mm is the perfect size for me and I wish there were more watches in this size.
I love the 34mm... some of my favorite watches are my vintage Timex and Bulovas which are the same size. It’d be nice to have that classic size with a modern movement like this one.
Thanks for watching!
Great watches, Marc. One thing that does differentiate the two, if it wasn’t mentioned, is the details in the minute track. The larger size has a very detailed minute track, compared to the smaller size. So yes, I think men’s and women’s is not inappropriate. But hey, it’s a watch. People can wear what they like!
I did miss that detail, thank you.
Dress watches should be classic and tasteful, and 34mm is a classic and tasteful size for dress watches. They look great.
Thank you
I feel they made a 34 for women while still appealing to many men. Wudda loved to see this in 36-38 though, nice sweet spot. Though i already have the blue 40 mm so I’m probably not gonna buy another either way.
I'm so glad they have 34mm watches for women that aren't feminine, because as a woman the feminine watches just don't match my style. It's also great because i have 5.2inch wrists so win!
I love the small sizes...they bring me back to the 40s and 50s.
I usually wear 36mm, but I could definitely wear 34...especially if it's thin. I personally wish they would get rid of the rotor to make it thinner. I don't think dress watches need a rotor.
How old are you?
Great idea on the rotor.
I'm the small watch guy. I like how Seiko handles this (mostly) by making the same watch smaller instead of making the smaller watches extra feminine. Nothing wrong with feminine or pink watches but those I personally wouldn't buy.
Casio for instance makes smaller g-shock watches but insists on calling them Baby-G. Junkers says you can have a smaller Bauhaus watch but certainly not without added diamonds. Now I admit that I don't have access to the sales figures of these companies so perhaps from a business perspective this makes sense. However from the perspective of letting everyone buy the watch they want in the size they want it doesn't really to me.
Thanks for the feedback.
Seiko is making everyone, boys, girls, men, and women happy. There's also the 37mm Zen Garden with sapphire glass at $370.
I wear suits for work and I use vintage watches and they are all 34/35mm. For me the bracelet (that I usually love) is very thin and looks weird, but put on it a leather strap and it looks amazing. It’s like having a modern watch made as it should be.
But, 40,5 is a bit inelegant. 34 on the other and its agee.
Seiko, why not the classic 36?
I think that's what the majority of watch people think about modern watch releases. A shame manufacturers still don't meet our demands.
Chinese like big watches
What's the reference of the smaller ice blue one? I keep skipping back and forth but can't seem to find where he mentions 🤔
Thanks for sharing, they look great! the 34mm would be a risky operation, the wife would "borrow" if for sure!
LOL, true!
Only if I never see it again! Lol
ice blue looks amazing... as does the pink
Thanks!
Just bought the ice blue dial from you Marc. Super exited!
How’d you like it! Came in looking to buy the black dial one, then he casually slips in the ice blue dial. I wasn’t really looking to buy two watches today, but…
@@adrianp.8818 it’s great! Works well with a lot of my outfits as well
Smaller watches always looked more refined to me
I get that.
those bracelets look very comfy. do they have some decent weight/substance to them? I love the butterfly claps, too.
I have 7.25 inch wrist and I own several vintage pieces which are 33 and 34mm. No problem with smaller size whatsoever.
Wear it proudly!
i could really go for the small blue or pink. 17mm lug width is a little annoying though
Yeah, gonna be tough finding straps.
Hard to find the strap 17 lug width
True love... For seiko
:)
Hi Mark any idea when youll be getting more skx007 k versions?
Will you be stocking those seiko sharp edge presages?
i had no idea the presage line came in 34mm until I bought one by mistake thinking it was 40mm, it was a pleasant surprise since I love smaller watches. especially those between 34-36mm
Hey Marc; does it seem like Seiko has been releasing a lot more various watch models/variants lately (compared to e.g. their release cadence 2 yrs ago)? From looking at the forums, it kinda looks like Seiko has slapped on a turbocharger on their factories.. Or has it always been this rapid?
Actually, their cadence is down! They used to release a load of core every year. That has been toned down.
Marc, would you describe the dial as true black or is it charcoal/brownish.....?
I wear a 1991 Tag Heuer formula 1 chronograph as a daily wear watch and it fits perfect , the larger watches i have dont seem to fit me as well must be my small wrists i guess. It shouldnt matter about the size as long as you love the watch.
Keep up the great videos.
That's a very valid point. Wear what you like.
What about those models from the 2020 catalog (it got removed from their site after 2 days), the SRPE41/43/45/47/49? They have new pattern on the dial and are somewhere in the middle with 38,5mm diameter.
Good video anyway as ever.
Thank you.
Am I crazy, or does the Ice Blue look way better in the smaller diameter and the “black” look way better in the larger?
Not crazy.
So you're saying the $18 Presage I saw listed on Wish may not be fake?
What about the green one? Ref SRPE15J1. It´s on Seiko's website. Will you have it?
Is the sapphire boxed crystal done with a gasket or UV adhesive?
UV
Gorgeous watches, but would love to see them sized somewhere between. 36mm-39mm and my wallet hand would start itching.
Never happy! :)
Well Seiko could have made more sizes than just 34mm and 40mm. Maybe something like 32mm, 37mm, and 40mm. If Seiko only made it in a single 36mm-39mm size, that would exclude the female demographic since for most of us 36mm and above is huge and impractical.
The Hudson Bay company sells some presages sometimes at 25% off. I got a sprb43 for 371 cad after tax FYI
i with these came with day and date .... that would be perfect for me.
Does the bracelet on the small one come with half links??
No, it does not.
About time. I'm tired of seeing wall clocks with straps trying to pass as wristwatches all the time.
You suggest this one over the sarb033?
The 033 gets you a 6R15 movement, which is awesome. So its a tough call.
I have a 34mm Rolex Date from 1968 and it's the perfect watch size... I only wish I could wear it more often...
In stead of "His and Her" watches, I would consider them as "Big and Little Brother" watches. 👍✌
OR sister!
Most would say unisex on the small one. I would say tiny.
I think a lot of guys get turned off by a watch that says its intended for women
Why not just “big” and “small” size? Calling them “big and little brother” would alienate female buyers in the same way that calling them “big and little sister” would probably alienate male buyers. Sizes don’t need to be gendered.
Seiko are missing out on 38- 39mm sales for this range
I wonder how many folks would like to swap out the hands on the 34mm for the hands on the 41mm. The watches have the same movement, if they'll fit (the dial, case, crystal) it would cure a case of S.S.H.S. (Seiko Stubby Hand Syndrome :-). Also, it's good to see a date window at the perimeter of the dial. It's as if the movement were actually designed for the case size.
Would the length fit?
so specs and designs are the same but just smaller size? wish they had 37-38mm
In the middle.
I thought the 34mm looked better on your wrist. I bought a Seiko dress style watch. Its 42mm, it's ok on my 7 1/4 wrist but hardly gets worn, as it doesn't feel right for a dress watch. Think 38mm is the ideal for this type of watch, or smaller
Thanks for liking it
Real men with larger wrists do look funny with such small watches, regardless how pretty they look. Cheers Achim, Singapore+
no asian kid , nothing is funny for larger wrist with small watches , only funny kids wear his daddy watches on a pencil wrist
I have a Certina certidate circa 1962 that is 34 mm. When I wear it, it looks as though it's part of my wrist. Unobtrusive, but still gets its share of attention from my friends who enjoy watches.
Understood!
It's be nice to see acrylic instead of Hardlex. I think all those classic watches uses acrylic.
What is the seriel number on the white 40mm? Cant find it on the site
SRPE19
Long Island Watch ok thank you!
The smaller one would be nice if a tad bigger for like, 36 to 39cm? With my 16cm circumference wrist.
Thanks Kyle
Soo is it srpb43 with bracelet?
yeah
I bought my wife the ladies snowflake version from my son for mother's day, she keeps it in my watch box and everytime I see it I fall for it.
The mens larger version look fantastic but not sure I would wear it that often as it is quite dressy, I have decided to pay more for the white Alpinist which suits my needs better👌
I enjoyed this video immensely. The thing is that my collection has a number of small vintage Seiko’s. The question is, can a man with an 8” wrist get by with a 34 watch?
8 inch? no way. 7 inch max
I'd say it will look like a toy on your wrist!
Offer sapphire crystals for the 34mm and I'm sold!
Not sure the demand is there.
Hell yeah
I truly think seiko killed the game with this releases. The 34 mm version is stunning.
I have a number of 34mm watches - in fact I'm wearing one today... I'm glad you were ’reprimanded’ for your "his and hers" comments lol. I almost wrote a comment myself about alienating potential buyers so I'm happy to see this correction!
LOL, thank you!
Lug to lug 48mm?
I need a pink B-dial Flieger at 55mm. Because Freedom.
I would totally wear the pink in a 40MM.
and me
Cool. . . I could see it.
What about the 2020 Presage dive-style watch I've been seeing pictures of? The 1964?
Not familiar.
@@islandwatch SARX069 is one of the models. There seem to be 3 different versions with a fourth limited edition releasing.
I would definitely wear the smaller size.
Awesome, glad to hear it.
Does this comes in gold color ?
Not right now.
Why did you not show the green one Marc?
The green one came out last year.
Long Island Watch i looked at seikos website and it shows a new model ref srpe15j1. A green dial with a bracelet. But maybe it is the exact same model but with a bracelet instead Of the strap. Thanks for the answer tho you are awesome!
They should make the pink version in the Large Size.....they can just market it as another one of their unlimited "limited editions" I bet they would sell out just the same.
LOL
This Seiko Presage watch that I could see wearing but I would like to have a white face with gold markers in a two tone gold and stainless. These are about $500 US dollars give or take so I couldn't see why anyone would sell at a cheaper price unless it was a closeout.
Thanks for watching.
@@islandwatch no thank you for thanking me for watching
They are good looking watches, but they are definitely not worth $450 with a 4r35, mineral crystal, and hollow endlinks! $450 can buy you a much nicer Swiss watch with better specs.
For some strange reason I like the pink dial. I would probably go for that pink dial Presage if it were half the price.
What dress swiss wathes at the same price you suggest?
This battle always comes up; I understand. But now from a name like Seiko you won't get it.
Smaller guy watches gotta make a comeback.
We're trying!
The "his" version of this looks like a pie pan, like most all Presages. And in my opinion the "hers" version is better proportioned as far as the date window placement. But I'll tell ya what: Another reason why this works as a man's watch is that the lugs and bracelet are actually too wide to be considered a woman's dress watch.
Thanks for the insight.
Lol now every time u ask the wife to be a hand model, she would expect to get the watch as payment 😜
They’re nice Marc but I’m not going back to a smaller diameter. It has nothing to do with ego but everything to do with presence, heft & readability. My very first watch was a manual 34mm Gladstone. Fine in its day but for me, bigger is better. 42-44mm
Thanks for watching.
Real men don’t worry about what other people say defines real man exclamation
William Warren your statement is a paradox itself.
low-key the small size looks way better on his wrist in my opinion
My father used for more than 5 decades the 28 x 28 mm Omega Deville that my mother gave to him on their first wedding anniversary, and now I used it.
Where is the problem in a man wearing a small watch?
big wrist > 8inch wrist
I cannot wear 34mm (36mm already looks a small on me and 38-41 is my sweet spot) but I love that Seiko hasn't printed the fraction of a second markers which is the thing that I have always disliked on the Cocktail Time. Why do they still print it on the full size watch?
I never really noticed that.
If only sapphire
IMO Seiko is charging way too much for a watch that still has hollow end links on the bracelet.
I can't tell you how many Seiko watches I've mangled the hollow end links on. 😞
Understood.
agree
On your Domasco Ocean you best get a cyclops!no Aribic #’s🤭how much$?
about $1000
Everyone gets one on valentines days 😉
my only gripe with presages is their enormous crown.
it's fine for a dress watch, you're not gonna be doing any work in them.
I think it's refined.
First Marc fiiirst!!!
nope
@@islandwatch Marc, of course I did.
34mm is such a classic size. My preference range is 32-39mm.
Why doesn't the date change immediately?
I mean it is around 400$!
Does it have a sapphire crystal?
Hhmm,, a pink 34mm?
How cool is that,, Awsome.
Must put one on the list.
By the way Marc,, my list of watches from Island Watch is way in to $20k.. It might take a while 🙂
LOL. I'll be waiting!
When you have a wrist larger than 8.25," 40 mm is tiny.
Yeah, but that's a minority.
But we are out there. I had you send me a link for my stapcode. It was to small.
