I've been watching since around 4-5000 subscribers. This is one of the best fishing/spearing channels on CZcams. Good luck and keep up the awesome content. What ever you do just don't give in to the cobia spearing off the bull sharks on the east side of the state. Those people suck and they are making our fishery next to impossible to maintain by hand feeding the bulls and sand bars.

If you stop in palm beach, the Breakers hotel sunk 3 high end vehicles (Rolls Royce and 2 others) as an artifical reef, could be a cool episode. Also, palm beach has some great reefs, very clear during high tide.

I find myself rewinding a lot, so I hope that helps the view durations.... Love the freshwater portal to the underworld ! Here off the coast of the Yucatan Penisula in Quintana Roo, there are a TON of them and the nutrients and food coming from inland just pulls em in. I've been watching other vids and often wondered does Aaron get spoooked while diving in the shady merk of mangroves or holes that are kinda intimidating.. Good to know you are human too! I had one of my most memorable dives with Gamble on that spot with the giant circular piece. There was a ton of life the day I went as well. Great vid man. I’ve been binge watching your channel the past week and it continues to be super enjoyable. 🤙🤙

I know it’s been a while since this got uploaded but welcome to my world. I got a lot of freshwater around me but nothing with over 10-15 feet of visibility in the summer. But 300feet and more of deeps. So yes creepy is my home base and a hate and love it at the same time.
If you see a 4-5ft pike staring into your eyes just 3 feet away it’s a little shock to say the least.

Sketchy dirty water dives are the best once you get over that initial fear of dropping I think those dives help you be a better diver later on for sure awesome video !!! 🤙🏽

Unfortunate you had to come visit the west coast during this time. Viz has been absolutely horrible these past few months, hopefully you’ll be able to get a chance to come back around winter when the viz gets better cause the area is absolutely beautiful

@@KeyWestWaterman Strange how the viz got worse when you went out farther. Ya, near shore viz up here in South Carolina is not much better. Have to go 30+ miles to get to 60' of water and decent viz. 60 miles to 100' where the gulf stream runs by. You are a bit spoiled down in the keys.

Aron* just another great video. Was Jerimes place in Saint Petersburg or was it Crystal River? If it was Saint Petersburg I hope you ate in a really great place. It’s one of the best restaurant towns in Florida. Just the Greek restaurants have amazing seafood meals. Northern Pinellas county has the sponge docks and a Greek bakery that you can not walk by. Next time you come here try the sponge docks. Yes I love to eat good food and that’s what you get here.

I think I know of this hole; it's up off of Crystal Beach, south of Palm Harbor. I have dove this before and yes, very creepy, especially when it's bad viz which is most of the time. Not for the inexperienced diver; very much like cave diving in that it's easy to silt up.

Hey Aaron, you often ask for ideas on what to shoot next so, here's one that'd I'd love to see and it wouldn't even need to be long: Show off those simple stick flashers you use and other types of tricks you use to lure fish in.
Is it also you who put a few dead fish on a string in your belt to use as throw flashers? I remember seeing it in a video somewhere...
Add chum and grunting and anything else you do and that'd be a sweet video:)

So true! A few weeks back I was at a FAD out here in the Philippines for the first time. They sit in 600m of water (2000 feet!) and when I jumped in to put my suit on, butt naked without even a mask, floating around on top of that vast unknown, I too was struck with that primal fear of sharks or a Jonah type moment...;)
Gag was my father’s favorite grouper to eat. When he was young it was common, but by the time I started spearfishing, it became very hard to find here in Rio.

Man thats funny I thought I was the only one who didn't like swimming over springs. We dive a bunch of them in the sw area of Florida and everytime even in clear water theres that moment of hesitation.

I can't dive murky water it just spooks me. I do night diving but murky seems to be scary. But i guess i have to try it to know since i saw kwwm do it, then i have to do it 😁👌

Definitely a spring, for those who don’t know, there are a ton of those in Florida. Because of the bedrock made of ancient shells the acidity from the rain eat through the rock easily. The ground in Florida is like a switch cheese of springs and ground water.
I guess that if it’s fresh water it make sense that not a lot of fish can live in the hole.

It's interesting how uncomfortable that hole made you. I was kind of curious if there was anything that unsettled you in the water.
Looks like poor vis and unknown locations do it. Makes sense.
There’s not much that makes me creeped out in the water. But you’d have to dive it to understand it. Haha
@@KeyWestWaterman I totally understand it! (Also don't get me wrong, I am not saying you're a scaredy-cat or anything like that!) The feeling of the water temp and buoyancy change along with the light dying away (since you're in a literally hole lol) I'm sure made it was very eerie.
They say that hole was created by a sinkhole and there was a boat on top of it that had went down in the hole now that’s a legend I don’t know if it’s to be true and I’m hoping that you show big enough of a area that we could possibly see this

When you do your deep dives do you have to worry about nitrogen build-up in your blood from your breathing so much? Great video thank you.
Nope I’m not breathing anymore than i would on land!
You might want to bring your dive watch into frame once and awhile to capture the depth you are fishing.
I actually did it on the trip but the glare from the sun was so bad you couldn’t see it clearly
@@KeyWestWaterman Just a nerdy idea if this is something you want to incorporate in future videos: I know you can buy screen protectors for your D4i and I wouldn't be surprised if you could track down a pack of anti-glare ones. Might have to get it from "The Orient" though. Or perhaps you could scuff one of the shiny ones with some sandpaper or ScotchBrite...

I recently started watching your videos and I love them! I don’t spear and just fish yet this seems so fun. I’m sure there’s a logical answer to this that I just don’t know, but wouldn’t it be easier to scuba down with a tank so you can stay down there for longer?

Rode well for a cat is a kinda funny way to describe it. Doesn't look like you got to see it where the advantage shines though. Our short period chop on the west coast up to a true 1.5-2.5 is cozy in them.

Have you ever set aside a fish that you speared with a stone shot, to compare to a similar fish that was landed after a fight? I wonder if there is a discernable difference in the firmness and flavor of the meat?

it had a little different texture, I think gag is almost a little more "smooth" in texture for lack of a better word. our black groupers hold a lot more fat than them is what I mainly noticed, both delicious though!
I've dove two springs, one having a seafloor depth of about 60' with an interior of what we assume to be about 160 also. Equally as creepy, and surprisingly lifeless as well. Looks like such good habitat. Only thing I can figure is the fresh water. Soooo cool though.
