  • I'm going to spend the next 3 months riding a bicycle across Japan. This journey will take us 2000 kilometers across the entire country. We explore Japan from the southern most tip, Kagoshima to the furthest north you can go, Aomori. This will give us a unique perspective into the land of the rising sun.

Wow - I can't believe you're doing this trip with a mama chari. That's pretty awesome. You might want to look at getting some panniers instead of the basket setup. Might help distribute the weight a bit better. Also at some point your wrists are probably going to hurt because of the handlebars so if you can get a cheap pair of bar ends i'd recommend it. I am vicariously watching your trip. Have fun!

Hey man i just found you in Reddit cause i actually been wanting to do this myself !
I love those biking across Europe videos where people just travel and meet people along the way stay at random peoples places.
I love Japan and figured this would be amazing then found you ! Can’t wait to watch these.

Thanks for watching! It's so funny you mentioned "staying at random peoples places" since that happened in the first episode twice. I'm about to fly back to Japan in 5 days and i'll hopefully finish this series :)
Feel free to DM me if you want to do a long bike trip and i'll share some good advice with you.

      Thank you!
Sorry for the delayed response. I'm planning on doing a segment in a video going over budgeting in-depth! But doing a trip like this doesn't have to be incredibly expensive. There can be a big difference between travel and vacation. I really just want to see a new place or culture. I don't mind being uncomfortable. I saved up for a while from my Engineering job before trying this. The main costs so far have been
      Bike with attachments: $480
      Sleeping bag and tent: $90
      Hotel: ~$35 a night
      Food: ~$11 a day
There are a lot of nice hotels in Japan and all of the ones on the cheaper end have incredible customer service and quality control. They are extremely clean. I'm usually outside for most of the day so I really just need a place to sleep. For food, I always love going to a hole in the wall. It gives you a chance authentically see a place/culture and it's usually very cheap. I just had a full dinner a few hours ago for $4.50. Most sights that I have wanted to visit so far have either cheap or free. There haven't been any other major costs that I can think of atm.

Dang this is really cool, definitely going to be following along! I'd love to see more extended videos just of the road or the landscape, if you're able to take them!

oh sorry, I didn't see this.
Asahi Cycle Base. It's a big franchise in Japan so they have locations everywhere.
