    A big thank you for this video. You are the only channel that actually understands the needs of a family. Mid size pickups, rear seat space in my opinion is a deal breaker. Thanks for taking the time to show us what fits and what doesn’t fit.

      Midsize is just not family friendly no matter how much it’s attempted to be justified. Especially with those trd pro seats.

    Echo the compliments, good to see videos with real world situations.
    Toyota is normally great at packaging, yet the Ranger has almost 3 inches more combined legroom despite having a 3 inch shorter wheelbase and being almost 3 inches shorter overall.

    I was worried about the space but this was really helpful! I'm only 5'9 170lb so I think I should be fine. Also my kids are all in front facing seats now.

      I've been driving my 24 Tacoma for about 2 weeks now. I'm 6'2", my son is 7 and still in a car seat (about 4'4") and he's perfectly fine. I've also taken some adults around town, over 200 miles, and there were no complaints about space.

  • @Arkeo36
    @Arkeo36 Před měsícem +11

    It's crazy how these midsize trucks are too big to truly be "smaller" trucks for people who do not want a full-size truck, but too small to genuinely be confortable carrying kids. Maybe there is a reason why none of us remember riding in a child safety seat in our dad's trucks back in the day: because people didn't use trucks as family transportation ie dad was not expected to center his life around toting kids everywhere. Also goes to show that trucks have ceased to be primarily for work or hard use purposes and are now in large part how we signal a certain lifestyle aspiration, when in reality it is basic transport we really need more than a pickup bed.

    • @Arkeo36
      @Arkeo36 Před měsícem

      On another note: I wish the manufacturers would have as an option a bench not intended for seating adults which was more or less a child safety seat anchor point so that there would be maximum rear row room for child safety seats. Make it a dealer installed option and even more of trucks in this class would be sold. But come on, it is kind of lame to own a pickup truck and have carseats in the back, and you always feel bad for the guy who is in that spot. I say this as someone who has small kids and is considering a pickup.

    My in-laws had to sell his prev gen Tacoma after getting married and planning kids. We lent then 3 various car seats, and him being about 6'4" and thin, there just was no comfort and safety for him to drive with a rear facing seat.
    I'd be curious if the new model would help at his height. But the point is, this is a very important thing for parents to think about when buying a vehicle. Often they do all the test driving, buy it, then bring it home and regret the car seat situation.

  • @C-M-E
    @C-M-E Před měsícem

    When my kids were in car seats not that many years ago, it becomes evident that A Lot of modern vehicles only have car seat points for regulations, but are a massive PITA to actually use. We had a rental 4 door charger around 2015 for instance that the car seat wouldn't even fit through the rear door frame. That was a month of hell.
    All things being fair, even my full size 'old gen' Tundra dbl cab was not particularly spacious in the back with car seats installed. Booster seats, non-issue. While I sat in the back before we bought it, being 6'5" it was doable but not terrific. Most 'normal' adults have plenty of room, but the seats themselves aren't particularly comfy.
