      I feel Nissan will definitely be stealing Tacoma buyers people truly want a naturally aspirated V6 not a turbo 4 banger. Those newer Frontiers are sweet looking . I have a paid off 22 Tacoma that I will probably keep a long time. If I was in the market for a new midsized truck I would probably buy a Frontier.

    Totally agree with your pet peeves on the lack of rear storage seat availability in the 4th Gen. Don’t know about the long-term reliability of the 4 banger but time will tell. Gonna stay with my 2022 PRO for the long term. 👏🏻👍🏻

    I wish they kept the original V6, but made it a little more horsepower, and a little more torque as an option now you have four on the motors that equal the V6, but you have to use a turbo charger to achieve that and I don’t like that when you open the hood it looks like 1 billion things in front of you not like a clean motor that’s just my opinion by the way I love my 3rd gen it has 488 gearing 33 gallon long range fuel tank and I’m just about to add rear disk brakes, and call it good

    The difference in torque between the V6 and the T4 is negligible...maybe 20 ft.lbs if that much. I have 30+ years of experience with turbo'd engines....they DON'T LAST. Squeezing more power out of an engine with a turbo stresses it more...i.e. higher cylinder pressures, higher operating temperatures. Toyota was STUPID this time. Had a great thing going and they screwed it up. I bought a 2022 Taco V6 4dr 4wd for 38k new. Same truck today is around 8K MORE. My next truck will probably a Ranger. I get about 24 mpg hwy with my V6 also.

      @RR-pw5nb Před měsícem +2

      @@sammyjammy6647 They weren't "bolt-ons" ,and the reliablilty of those engines was far more critical than any car or truck engine. I flew general aviation airplanes with turbo'd engines for over 30 years and I can say with first hand experience that they don't last as long as normally aspirated engines. We couldn't pull over to the side of the road if they failed. We had cylinder head temp gauges, exhaust temp gauges that displayed real-time conditions and I can say that they ran considerably hotter than non-turbos, and they had higher fuel burn rates. Also, the manufacturers added intercoolers to some of them to cool them down a bit. The TBOs (Time Between Overhaul) intervals for turbo'd engines were considerably shorter than for normally aspirated engines. The advantage of turbocharging on aircraft engines was that they made about the same power at higher altitudes that they produced at lower altitudes which got us above most of the crummy weather. Optimum altitude for a non-turbo'd engine is 6 to 7,000 feet...turbo'd engines got us up to around 20,000 feet or so. Also, they used bleed air off of the turbo to pressurize the cabin. BUT it's a compromise. You get that extra power up high at the expense of shorter engine life, higher fuel flow rates, and higher hourly and overhaul costs. Plus the whole system just gets more complicated to work on. If turbocharged car and truck engines were so wonderful, they'd ALL be turbo'd. Would've liked to see them do a 4cyl turbo diesel. Imagine a Taco Turbo Diesel...the TTD. So no, I'm not an engineer, but I got my knowledge from real-world experience and learning from aircraft mechanics for 30+ years. I just hated to see Toyota "fix something that wasn't broke", and then they hike the price of them by about 8K. I hear they're having issues with the V6 Turbo Tundra too.

      One good thing, after driving my v6 pentastar jeep offroad, is the low end torque coming in @1700rpms is HUGE, so much more control not having to rev up higher to get the torque out. And after owning a jeep I’m not too worried about Toyota’s turbo engine lol. Hope you find a gem tho 👍
