- On todays episode, we installed door seals, filled transmission and gear reduction boxes with oil and put the tires on. We got the engine running and Jackie Blue moved on her own for the first time in over 50 years!! We will be taking her for a test drive next weekend so stay tuned!!

Watched this at work(shhhhh). Anyway I always mute stuff at work, but as soon as she turned over, I turned the volume on. HAD to hear it!! Woo Hoo!! almost there!!
First ride is always exciting! Castrol GTX Classic 20W50 has the zinc the engine needs. You probably already know that. Great video!
Looking good.
Q. I couldn't make out what you were saying about the difference in height from front to back.
So you're almost there I can see the light from my garage.
Thanks for sharing ✌️ Peace from Melbourne Australia.
Good job, she sounds good.Looks good too.
its exciting to hear it run and drive ,, very cool my friends , stay safe
yessss!!!!! Great job. She looks amazing.
Thank you!! 💙
You two did a great job restoring the bus, i had problems with a classic vespa i bought couldn't get it to run correctly after replacing the top end, i was getting a pain in my arse pushing it home, and was ready to trow the towel in, but i replaced the carb and it runs beautifully now. Love your videos. Respect from Ireland.
Those whitewalls look so good! Nice work!
Thank you!! :)
Remember, solid tappet motors like VW's need a zinc additive (ZDDP) in the oil to prevent cam wear and keep em happy. This was a big day for Jackie Blue, right on!!!
I know the feeling! I remember being so excited to actually drive mine a total of 20 feet - I couldn't sleep the whole night after that. haha Congrats!!! Good work
Awesome! Great to see it moving under its own power.
Congrats, this is a BIG day for y’all 👍👍
It won’t be long now. Can’t wait for the first drive. I’d say don’t use synthetic oil as air cooled VW’s don’t like it. A good choice is Valvoline VR1 20/50. And if you’re going to lower the front end expect to need smaller front tires. Great job.
That is the rear tin. You have to have it along with a rubber gasket around the perimeter of the motor for the cooling to work properly. Be sure not to us synthetic oil Aircooled motor do t like it. Use 50/20 and add zinc to it every oil change. I’m excited for you guys.
I just ordered a new seal for our rear apron a couple days ago. Our buddy Nik from Demopgarage gave us a lot of extremely helpful information the other day! Thanks for the oil tip! It’s hard to find non synthetic oil it seems like these days. Thanks for watching!! 💙
@@evilironclassics2719 Nik is a great guy.
Hi come over on nicks from demop garages recommendation. 👍🏼 videos and journey with the van
Nik is a great guy!! Thanks for watching!!
Don't worry too much about being original. The Volkswagen guys are way better than the Dodge guys!
Great job guys👍🏽👍🏽 james do you have a timing light? Motor does sound like its missing a little. Probably needs some fine tuning with the Distributor and the idle mixture screw.
Yeah it’s got too much choke right now and we will be trying to fix the timing this weekend. 😊
@@evilironclassics2719 sweet, let us know how you go :)
