The part that stuck out the most was the part during the story that it was a tradition to SA any female cousin????? like what the heck thats outright wrong and probably the people involved in the family tradtion wouldve been in jail for years still great that op saved the 2 cousins

OP luckily opened the floodgates to destroy that messed up tradition. So you could say he saved not only the females in his family, but he saved the future men from ending up like their fathers. Disgusting old freaks.

Sadly, growing up with abuse normalizes it...
Depending on how isolated the family is from others... They grow up believing that this is how family works...

I recently watched a short documentary about something similar to this, the family lives in the Appalachian mountains and generations of inbreeding have left the ones alive now in seriously poor mental and physical conditions, and they thought it was normal

***trigger warning-sa abuse***When I was a foster parent, I ran into two of these exact type of cases. Two different girls from different families who lived just like Amy in the story did. It sadly does happen. I can’t even begin to tell you the horror of having a 10 year old child who has been abused by her father and anyone else he would let at her tell me (while crying in shame) that she needed to tell me that sometimes she sticks random items inside of herself and she doesn’t know why and it doesn’t feel good-it just makes her cry when she does it. She didn’t understand any of it. I had to put on a brave face for her and tell her that she was safe now and would be ok in time and to tell her therapist-and then go ugly cry in my bedroom alone afterwards. Some human beings are absolute pieces of evil disgusting filth and I hope that they get nothing but pain the rest of their pathetic lives.

@@naturebehindglass6512 I wish I could say that I did it long term but sadly I didn’t. I’m no hero. I did it for two years. I was a very young newly married new mother of 21 years old with zero experience but my own trauma from an also “not great” childhood. I went into it idealistic and naive thinking that I could help another kid like me. I had neither the life experience raising an older child or the emotional capacity to stick with it very long. I feel like I did do a bit of good, but it wasn’t enough. At least they had healthy home cooked food, no one was abusing them, I had a lovely couple of bedrooms that I decorated and filled with pretty childhood decor, there was a TV and a double bed and dresser in each room. Nice bed linens. The rooms were clean and comfortable, at least. They had plenty of snacks and pool passes for fun. We saw age appropriate movies at the theater as a family. But ask me if I knew what the heck I was doing when it came to properly supporting emotions as heavy as these were for these kids and all I can say is I did the best I knew to do. There was no training at the time for topics THIS heavy. I had originally told the department that I wasn’t emotionally equipped or experienced enough to deal with severe abuse cases but they pushed them on me anyway-desperate for a place to put them. I felt like I couldn’t say no if someone needed me. But I wasn’t an old enough woman to know what to do. I was barely out of my teens myself. My own baby was only a year old, so no experience with older kids.

@@Tuturial464 yeah, you'd be hard-pressed to find 'perfect in most situations. At least now the girls and other family members have a chance at normalcy and the familial cycle of abuse has been broken, hopefully permanently.
Another thought that came to mind as i was typing this: this situation is why 'families' like this tend to want to keep everyone in it isolated from the rest of the world and ostracize those that break free, to prevent outside normal culture from making the family members realize that the situation is in actuality totally f*cked up.

Story 1: This is the 2nd time I've heard this story. 1 thing that has gone through my mind both times is: This takes place in Australia. Australia is famous for the Outback. Along with extremely dangerous and poisonous wildlife. I've seen shows and stories about people who disappeared in there. Or people found mutilated and passed on compliments of wildlife. Then the thought of those "Young Men" who got off with a slap on the wrist and all of the women that never did anything to protect the young girls, along with any male family member that didn't participate, but knew what was going on and did nothing. They all deserve to be taken deep into the Outback. See who survives.
