Kids who are abused will do almost ANYTHING to feel approval from their abuser sometimes. The ending of this story reminded me of this, and i dont know how to feel about her running back to this witch. Hope the peace lasts, but if her sister ever returns, i bet moms behavior goes back to normal...

That's the worst case scenario and people are quite complicated. It's possible that the mother is truly humbled

I was thinking the same thing. Let sister show back up. Mom will go right back to kissing her azz. She'll expect OP to go back to being the slave for sister and her.

@@laurenttouchet8490 Even so she was out, in a better position and her mom only called because of the sister stealing everything from the mom. The Mother would have never changed if not for the golden child running off with her money.

Why didn't the mom sue Emma? Surely she can for taking so much savings and, based on the mom's reaction, it was done without her knowledge until it was too late. This is something that can be sued for, right? If so, then she'll get her money and daughter back, a win-win. Or am I wrong?

The more articulate the story is, the more likely it's fake.
The ending sounds like a written story ending where life goes on and the camera pans out and we are left to assume where the characters go.
But I'm real life we can easily find out what happened next and if the story was real we'd have heard it.

    • @lindah3803

Simple. Emma is golden. Mom isn't about to do something like "sue her girl". Emma could take everything from Mom. She still wouldn't do anything about it.

The second it got to the dialogue it became a fanfic

    • @Arkryal
      @Arkryal Před 3 dny +6

Yeah, these are fictional stories. It can be fun to discuss the underlying issues they present as hypothetical scenarios, but this is not some real-life drama. More like the discussions one might have in a philosophy class. In the end, it doesn't matter if they're real or not, as these are people you would never meet anyway.
The writing is not emblematic of how people communicate such stories, it's written like a book, not an informal and emotionally charged rant or plea for help or validation that you would see with an authentic story, so the dialogue is a little robotic.
And the psychology here doesn't really pan out. People who feel entitled to someone else's labor don't ever back down. The real world doesn't have those grand moral epiphanies. If anything, they double-down, the mother would have blamed OP's leaving as the catalyst for everything bad that happened. Entitled people are predictable people, they live up to their stereotypes 100% of the time without fail.
People like that don't take accountability, if they were capable of doing so, things would never have gone that far. Short of a traumatic brain injury, heavy duty drug usage, or years of work on personal growth, people don't really change their fundamental nature. Not that they "can't" change, but they simply don't. To expect such change is a fool's gambit, in the real world, it never works out that way.
Stories like this are just hollow wish-fulfillment fantasies.

I genuinely would have just left the mom to deal with it. She made you her maid, and gave you all the weight to carry alone, then turned her back on you when you wanted to have your own life. You were NEVER her daughter, and she was never your mother, no matter how you feel, or whatever affection she shows you. The moment you were free is the moment you cut contact, because that wasn’t a family, that was a job.

First of all, I doubt that I would have answered that phone call. And there is no way in hell I would have moved back. Wait until Emma returns and your mother starts treating you like the unloved step child again. You were strong enough to leave you should have stayed gone. Don't go back to abusers, cheaters, haters, liars or people who disrespect you.

I guess I’ll be the paragraph gal cuz real story is 15min long.
Here’s a summary of what happened:
op got stuck doing all chores and when they spoke up, the mom took Emma’s side. There was a big argument and eventually op left to stay with a friend. Op heard from a neighbour that Emma was still not doing any chores and the mom was overwhelmed and the house was a mess. A few months later, op got a call from mom. Apparently, Emma had run away with her professor and stolen all of the mom’s life savings. Mom sincerely and tearfully apologized and they hugged and made up. Op moved back in with mom to help her after the disarray caused by Emma.
    Hope this helps👍

I grew up as the youngest of four, two older half brothers from my mom and an older step brother from my step dad.
I was the odd one out, my mother had a brief and abusive relationship with my biological dad and he spent my childhood in a Texas prison for drug trafficking and manslaughter, he killed a guy”in self defence” in lockup.
My mother has wasted too much time letting me know I had no value, my step father had no issue scaring me with his father hitler youth knife he “killed Jews with” that he now used for steak.
I was the only non white as my dad was Latino from America, for contest I’m Canadian.
I can’t believe this story in any way. I’ve been separate from my family for 15 years. Only Facebook likes are what I get. No one showed up to my engagement party, wedding or to see my beautiful little boy.
Nor were we invited to any of the three weddings they had. Children being born or any holidays.
Abusive people don’t change. Things never get better and nothing can hurt you like family. Some people talk about being the black sheep like they are the bad ones. No, in my experiences they are the left out ones who for some reason were seen as the problem.
Thank you for reading my rant. I do my best to never bring it up. My son will never know my family hates him for a reason I can’t tell him. As far as he knows they all live in Narnia, better than knowing he is unwanted.
