Great Setup for me
Wow, this is great advice and has tremendously reduced the amount of irritation I get.. I can’t thank you enough for this! The skin stretching I was doing really was the main culprit of my irritation. I’m so happy I watched this vid, thanks a million again!
You're so welcome! Thanks so much for your compliments
If you have sensitive skin, let your beard grow for about 5-7 days. Get someone to take a closeup picture of your face, especially on the neck area. Then study the direction of hair growth and map it out on a piece of paper. You’ll be surprised how many directions your beard grows.
Memorize that growth and try to always shave with the grain on the first pass.

Your channel is really good and unique. I appreciate the close ups of actual shaving, different. Great Shaves 👍🏻
I appreciate that!
Brilliant video. Love how you show close ups of your shave.
Glad you enjoyed it
thy for a great video...😍 love the close up and learning technique
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really good upload. I’m surprised you don’t have more subscribers. Video quality is great. Keep doing what you’re doing. It’s appreciated.
I concur!!
Still new to CZcams. Thanks for your subscription
Thank you much
I don’t think there is anyone doing close up shaving videos for the technique. Clearly the best “how too”, video on shaving with a safety razor. Hopefully one day I can get a Rockwell razor. Thanks
Thanks a lot. I really appreciate that
10 years ago I won a Braun Series 7 electric shaver and I bought afterwards a Panasonic Arc 5. I master the technic to use a electric shaver the right way. Especially the Panasonic can give a very nice shave when you used it with a nice shaving cream. A few months ago I came on videos about wet shaving with a safety razor and it really fascinated me. After much doubting I bought the King C. Gillette Safety Razor for giving it a try. To make al long story short: I'm experimenting with wet shaving. I bought the Mühle R89 and R41 but after seeing your videos with the Rockwell 6C, I couldn't resist to buy that razor and I really love this razor. Great experimenting with the different plates. I used some TOBS soaps and felt in love with the sandalwood smell. Neck shaving is still a big challenge te me. The Panasonic gives me beter results with no irritation but I like the charm of the wet shaving when I'm in the mood for taking my time. I ordered a nice amount of Feather Blades and really like them. Keep up the good work ! All the best from Belgium.
Thank you much
Just picked up TOBS sandalwood this week (A lot better then my generic shaving cream and lathers quicker too).
Yeah, it's definitely high end and very well known
What's your fav. blade?
@@OhioShaves Feathers (Started off with Gillette Wilkinson swords for a while).
The rockwell 6C and 6S appreciate all razor blades, but the permasharps and the Rapira Lux are very effective with these razors! superb video with close-up. Cheer !!!
Thanks for sharing!
for my friends here with skin issues with shaving, make sure you’re washing your face with good soap every day and take care of your face, exfoliate etc.
👍
thanks for the tips!!!
Thank you much. Good to hear from you Greg. Love your channel
I dunno how i ended up here or why im watching you shave but you now have a new subscriber
Thank you much! I started doing the same thing and switched to a Safety RaZor
Great video, great close ups! Thanks for the tips. I will try my 6C with Perma-Sharp in few minutes…
Thank you much
How was your shave?
@@OhioShaves Instead of using the 6C, I decided to go with the Parker Variant and the Perma-Sharp…and regreted it…lol! Should have followed your tip. My next shave will be with the 6C…
Thanks for asking!
❤️🪒
Many thanks for the tips 🔥🇦🇷💪😎
Welcome. Thanks for watching
another great shave sir since u seem like me to have the same skin type and the same type of bristles and u do detailed work around the moustache and neck area (the lupo 0.58 has a slim head profile for detailed work) and u shave every 3 - 4 days i found the razorock lupo 0.58 mm to be excellent and perfect for the job it ticks all the boxes , smooth and forgiving yet effiecient, frankly of all my razors i use the lupo 0.58 exclusively for months now and dont seem to mis any other razor i could be perfectly fine with just this one and i have a few other razors like gamechangers, tatara , outlaw, edwin jaggers, parkers, merkurs, and others but i never seem to use them anymore.
cheers,
Nice
Great video and tips!! I have been doing all the things you showed and have been experiencing awesome shaves, no blood and no irritation. The Gillette Perma-Sharp is also my favorite blade. I’ve been using it with a RazoRock Game Changer .68-P or RazoRock Mamba 70. (Is the background music something new?)
Glad to hear. Great blade. I've been using music in the back for sometime. Was the volume too loud?
@@OhioShaves I appreciate how much work you put into your videos and I don’t want to be a complainer but since you asked, for me anyhow, it’s loud and kinda distracting. Maybe ask your viewers. Hey, I’ll watch anyway👍
What device do you watch CZcams videos on?

A preshave also helps reduce your irritation. I act just use baby oil which has helped. Like the Rockwell 6c also but my favorite razor is the Karve CB brass and aluminum. They give bbs every time.
Nice
Just so you know, you don’t have to soak a synthetic brush. You only need to soak a badger brush. Not sure about boar.
So just run your synthetic brush under warm water and squeeze out excess water and then lather up.
I always use a bowl. So I soak it for about 30 second’s
@@OhioShaves Perfect
Soak any natural-hair brush bristles, including a boar brush.
Some of us old-timers still like to add a small amount (3-5 drops) of baby oil into our lather. Eliminates irritation and also provides a superior post shave.
Nice
3 months wet shaving havent got that BBS shave yet . Only once in the Dome with the leaf.
keep trying
Did you try and step up to a higher plate?
The Rockwell is an excellent razor. I have a 6S, I like it with aggressive settings and blades for WTG passes.
I prefer to use a milder razor instead of lower settings on the 6S or my Parker Variant for ATG passes.
The reason I prefer that is, I like the smaller, low-profile head of my Muhle R106 or R108, (An Edwin Jagger DE-89, Muhle R89 or Gillette Heritage would be great for this too), because I edge/shape my goatee during these passes, and the Jagger/Muhle low-profile head seems to be the most maneuverable of all my razors.
My skin doesn’t like soap of any type sitting on it, but the mild irritation from that goes away after I rinse and apply my aftershave oil.
I just got an Ice-Tube 2.0 (Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap Stick) from Phoenix Shaving, I’m gonna see if cranking up the slickness helps reduce irritation more. Menthol and cold water really help me with irritation, too.
Currently, I can only do a 2-pass shave before I start getting irritated. I can get away with against the grain horizontally and vertically, but any more than that, I start getting raw.
I think I’ll try my 6S w/the #6 plate for my 1st pass WTG, then see how many passes I can get away with in my R108 after that.
I will say I’ve had significantly less cuts and irritation with safety razors than I ever did with cartridge razors.
I never used disposables because I used to see the aftermath of my dad using them (neck full of cuts & little pieces of toilet paper 😂🤮), so I’m guessing those are even worse than cartridge razors.
WoW. Great setup
Yeah, I’m definitely a razor guy, I have 5 brushes and a couple soaps, but I’m way more into razors, got way too many as I’ve complained about before. 😂 I’m trying to figure out which ones I could sell, but there are very few I don’t like. 😂
😂
Well, I got my Ice Tube 2.0 Pre-Shave Soap, it definitely helped! I put it on beforehand, then got a lather going on my face with it, then, I made a lather in my bowl with Pacific All Natural Shaving Cream & put that on over it. It made a super-lather, and the cooling menthol effect stayed for the whole shave! Great stuff!
I forgot to use my Rockwell 6S, I used my Muhle Rocca loaded with a Nacet for WTG on face and neck, then horizontally ATG on my face. Then, I shaved across & against the grain on my neck with my Muhle R108, 3-pass shave w/less irritation than I normally get with a 2-pass!
I’m using the Ice Tube for every shave from now on, if you what like menthol does, I highly recommend the Ice Cube 2.0, it’s awesome!
You did all passes with #5 plate
Yes. I’ve been shaving with a safety razor for 9 months. You?
Hi. I can relate to the skin irritatation when I am going for a three-pass shave (although I no longer cut myself at all since switching 2 months ago to a safety razor). To reduce irritatation I have switched to a two pass with proraso pre-shaves: with the grain and then against the grain. I can also recommend to use Nivea sensitive skin balsam just before sleeping and alcohol based aftershaves just after shaving (also it helps to clean your razor and let it dry out after every shave to reduce bacteria growth + corrosion). Furthermore with my Muehle Rocca very sharp blades have really grown on me. Since recently I have found my "Zen" by regularly switching between Muehle, Feather and Personna Platinum Blue blades. Once in a while I get bored and switch to the Merkur 39C Slant razor loaded up with feather blades. It gives you a nice shaving experience that feels quite differently from a regular T razor shave. Eventually I would like to try feather kimisori artist club dx stright razor with replaceable blades. Apparently after you get a hang of it, a kamisori can give a much smoother finish on your skin compared to a safety razor.
For everyone who is looking for something unique and nice, you should definitely try out Goodfella's Smile Soaps/Aftershaves. Abysso and Pino Alpestre are my most favorite ones. Besides I can really recommend the full line of Proraso products (green mint and brown sandalwood lines). At last I am eager to see the how Fine Soap+Aftershave "Italian Citrus" will perform. It definitely smells amazing! Also their "Platinum" smell I think is really good.
Also I use Stanley "No Cuts Permitted" pre-shave oil once in a while in case I use a shaving soap, which smell might not work with proraso pre-shaves. I can suggest to apply your pre-shave first, than make a shaving lather, than apply a warm towel to your face on the pre-shave that you applied on your face. Cutting yourself after this procedure is not as prone to happen.
To conclude this new hobby has really grown on me and it helped to improve my mental health as a simple shaving ritual became something special for me and it kinda feels like a meditation. You take time only for yourself and forget about all the hassle/stress for a little while. I have also found a reasonable way to save up on quality blades by buying 200 blades packs at a time. I can also suggest semogue boar brushes and Muehle silvertip badger brushes (large and medium are quite good). Regarding a nice bowl, I urge you to try a handmade lather bowl from Steave Woodhead Ceramics. Shaving with a warm shaving cream steps up your shaving experience even one step further.
Alert! If you want to use the shapest blades on the market, work on your technique! Until you feel safe with Personna blades, I wouldn't go a step up in sharpness. It also helps to shave with a slight angle instead of going up and down. Small shaving strokes are also a better way to go in my opinion. At last I can suggest to shave from the plate on the first pass from the bottom plate and on the second from the top razor head guard to get baby-smooth finish on your face.
Thanks for your input
How does the Gillette Nacet compare to the Perma Sharp in terms of sharpness and comfort?
Perma Sharp is more comfortable with most razors for me. Not in the Rockwell 6C
Do you know how long the beard hair stay hydrated/softened after showering?
Not long for me. I try to start shaving right away which for me is about 10-15 minutes setting up lighting and so on and so forth
I'm looking to buy a new brush.Any recommendations?
I love the Simpson T3 synthetic used in this video
The Simpson T3 synthetic shave brush is awesome. It's a huge brush that holds a lot of soap and has a great backbone. If you have sensitive skin I highly recommend any synthetic. My first brush was a badger brush and it did irritate my face. That's why I went with the T3 synthetic from Simpson. You won't regret it if you already don't have one.
Maybe try a Vielong horsehair brush. once you defunkify it it is a lather making monster.
The T3 is a great brush too.
Which brand alum block do you use ?
Just one from Amazon. I paid $10 for it
I got also the 6c . But i feel a little scare going more than plate #3. It also leaves me with hair. Whats the best blade for the 6c for face shaving.
Go to a higher plate. It shouldn't leave hair behind. Keep stepping up till the blade works. I love the R6 plate with most mild to medium blades
Which blades are mild and which are medium
All blades are different on different types of skin. But it doesn't matter. If the are three plate is not taking off enough hair. Go to the R4 plate. If that doesn't work step it up to the R5 plate. You can't make a mistake. Different blades will use different plates. That's just how it is. My skin might be able to handle a Nacet blade on the R6 plate, but yours may not. The Nacet blade might fall in the R4 plate for you. Does that make sense?
I got sensitive skin. I got Nacet. Euromax .
I've used the Nacet and it's more on the sharper end. I have ever used EuroMax
Why arent using a T2?
Are use several different safety razors on this channel

What I’m going to do for me is to shave down, I have the Mach 3 Gillette
Most people I known use a Mach 3 because of the cost of the newer Gilllette razor blades expense. I did as well. The switch is a learning experience but well worth it in the end. I can now shave against the grain on my neck and I am so happy that my face is clearing up just from shaving with a safety razor.
@@OhioShaves true the blade of the safety razor is so sharp as hell that it gives you a nice smooth comfortable shave. As smooth as a baby’s leg
Your channel so happened to come in my feed. You ever thought of having a beard??
Yes
@@OhioShaves you need to check out the bearded community. Look at Dan C Bearded. Bro I think you could have a killer beard. You won’t have to worry about razor bumps ever again. 😁
I’ll check into it
I can believe how much feedback noise you get from your razor. My intuition tells me that there is quite a bit a vibration in the blade caused by blade chatter. Perhaps Rockwell razors don’t clamp on blade down very well. My razor hardly makes any noise even shaving 4 days growth. My razor clamps the blade down like a vice. Anyone else want to chime in?
Oops “can’t believe” not can believe.
It’s how I edit my videos. I control all the sound giving it a ASMR effect. Most people love it
I'm still trying to find the best blade for my T2.
I like Nacets
