    Just started using a safety razor (fairly cheap and not heavy, but I came across it randomly and had been meaning to try the style out)... I've used it about three times and today had bleeding cuts in a shocking number of places...this video made me realize while I think mt angle was okay (maybe needs work), that I've been using the same amount of pressure as a disposable razor...and that's likely a huge part of the problem. This video will hopefully help me avoid that next time!

    Some youtubers on here use such an aggressive angle, they seem to be scraping their face. This video is brilliant, explains the correct way to do it.

    Good info! I had to go on the road for 5 weeks and was stuck using a crappy electric razor (yikes!). I missed the family the most, but my badger and blade shaves were a close second.

    The angle you are demonstrating on your hand is the only way I can shave without getting severe razor burn.

    I have been using my 34g since I first bought it at maggards last shave meet, I don't think I could love a woman as much as I love my German engineering!

    Very good video, I have found that finding the proper angle is easier to find with the thin head of the Gillette tech than from a TTO or modern tech. Having a angle that matches your hand to face is the only way you can learn how to shave.

    I really like the golden Gillette razor, I noticed it still has at least one remaining Gillette De Luxe Blade which are very though to find for us (Collectors). I collect double edge razors and blades. Congrats for that treasure

    hello, I'm new to vintage de razors and was curious about what to do with the razor between shaves. For example: what is what the proper care and safety wise? (I have two small children)

      Always take the blade out of the razor when done. Gently wash them with water, then sanitize them with a little rubbing alcohol, dry them with a cotton wash cloth and put the razor in its case or shaving kit bag, and the razor in a closeable blade box in your kit. He has another video showing this, it is where I learned it. He is a good instructor.

    I've learned that DE razor blades each have different characteristics and wear out differently.
    Worst shaves ever where on Merkur Stainless. Only one sold at the local drugstore. Picked up a pack of 5. Used one terrible, then I went to 2 worse then one. I have 2 of them left. 1 went to use pealing stickers off.

    What’s the reason for saving with an safety razor? And why did they quit shaving with an safety razor in the old days? I mean some how everybody quit saving with an safety razor

    • @wnose
      @wnose Před 5 lety +8

      Razors for safety razors are a lot cheaper. Companies introduced cartridge razors to make more money.

    • @gestapo81

      because you can shave for 50$ the whole year. in my case/country 20$. They don't like it when you keep the money in your pocket. A man's shaving tool should be his for a long time, even pass it to his kid just like a good watch.

      Nasty beard??? Beards are awesome. I've never really cared about my hair but it's nice to switch it up having a beard, goatee, clean shaven.
      Just sticking to one isn't what being a man is about 😋.
