    I really enjoy your videos! Super helpful. I am doing my own installation because of you! Dealer wanted $450 to $500 to run wires and I don’t trust that they would do as good of job as I will! I am watching all your videos!

    Thanks for the detailed guide on this install was invaluable when I installed the spotlights last weekend. Also hardwired in my Chigee carplay unit and fixed the heated grips wiring that my dealer didn't do correctly, I love this bike but taking it apart is a test of my love!

  • @SmittyAZ

    Thanks, that was excellent. After I saw the KTM price and downloaded the instructions a while back, I decided to add 4 cheap Amazon LED lights on my 2020 1290 SAS and did it without cutting. I temporarily tucked the wires behind panels (hidden) until we actually needed to remove everything to install the Rottweiler kit and then routed the wires properly. I made sure that all of the connectors are easily accessed, but tucked away - for servicing and maintenance.
    Of course, it would be great if the lights were installed from the factory as standard equipment for a few bucks extra! Thanks again! I'm catching up on your videos...

    • @RicardoYeep
      @RicardoYeep  Před 2 lety

      Morning Ray! Thanks mate for liking the clip. For sure it would be nice as a standard fit (similar to Triumohs 900 Rally Pro and other top end bikes). However its a money maker I guess. But deffo this new 2021 onwards model is aright game to install correctly haha. All fun I guess.
      Happy New year too! and keep well. Thanks for getting in touch!

  • @davidjlane
    @davidjlane Před 11 měsíci +1

    Well Ric, got it all done but it took me 6 hours+. Two things which caused me issues - 1. Storing all the wires. It really is a pain finding space behind the indicator panels. Constant trial, fit, refit and plenty of cable ties and electrical tape, LOL! 2. Don't open a petcock on one side if the other is not connected. I reek of eau de petrol LOL. In the end I did lower the bash plate and take off the petrol tank which was just about empty. That certainly made the job easier and removing/refitting wasn't the scary experience that I expected. Very happy with the result. Nothing left to fit now as far as I can see. Maybe some higher bars but the bike is really looking good now. Thanks again for the highly useful videos. D

    • @RicardoYeep
      @RicardoYeep  Před 10 měsíci

      HIya David. Haha excellent mate. Great to hear you managed it ok. And yes the worst part is cable management. There is no space at all is there! So now you know its not hard at all once you have done it. Seems daunting at first. Every job now is easy after youve done that!.

    I suggest using the Hex ezCan sold by Cyclops Adventure or Denali CANsmart. I installed the auxiliary lights on my 2019 - 1290 SAR, connected through the EzCan to the Canbus into the high/low switch on the handlebar. Now the auxiliary lights also change their intensity to high and low, together with the Headlight. It was very easy to do and to program, through the device software. I used PIAA leds with two wires (not three). No modification was made to the electrical system of the bike.

    Very well done Ricardo, crazy how many bolts and panels you have to remove. Just shows you that they could well make the bike lighter and more accessible, with a little more thought in the design of the bike. As you say, dealer will charge big money, due to the time needed, for what actually should be a pretty simple job, if for not having to remove so much. Job well done though Ric. 👍

      Hello there! For sure there is an easily accessible ACC2 (switch live) along with and ACC1 (perm live) set of spare ports under the passenger seat tucked away usually on the left. It will be labelled too so easily identifiable.
      You could wire up to these albeit would mean running wired from rear to front. Not the cleanest approach but easier to access the power lines.
      I ran all from the front purely as it’s by the book and all the ports are at the front.

    Good morning Ricardo, I have installed fog lights on my KTM 1290 SAS, but the dealer tells me not to connect them to the jacks that the motorcycle comes with as standard to place the original KTM ones, because they could give errors on the screen, that is true ? I see it strange.

    • @RicardoYeep
      @RicardoYeep  Před rokem

      Hello Juan. First I’ll mention I’m no technician. The acc2 “switch live” power source is where I first ran my garmin gps. I had no issues on screen, now I run the ktm spot lights off the same ACC2 and also piggy back the gps off the same source! As the spotlight sub harness has an additional connection built in which my gps runs from. Even like this I have never had any issues with error on display. If they could explain how would an error be displayed would probably be more helpful to understand. As far as I know it’s just a power source. There is actually no way an error message can be generated on screen. Even the on/off switch for spot lights are a manual switch separate to the screen menus. I may be wrong and stand to be educated. But seems odd to me too what you’ve been told. 👍

My question is, did you utilize the (extra) set of connectors that were provided with the aux lights to plug your GPS leads back into? I had my dealer install the lights, provided them with my Garmin AMPS mount so they could plug into the spare set of wires, and the GPS does not power up. I think they reversed the wires when they plugged into the spare leads, and did not verify the GPS has power. This is what I am hoping, that the wires just need to be reversed! Thank you very much!

      Hello mate. I have just checked the Denali D3 dimensions (90mm round) x (76mm) deep. These are actually quite a lot bigger than the OEM Aux lights at 55m round. A good 40% larger in diameter. I personally would not be comfortable with mounting them where the OEM Aux lights are positions. I think seriously you would only have about 10mm (if that) from the arc of each of the forks from looking at it and using to best guess with a measuring tape. if you were to have mounts that would maybe angle out ie an "L" shaped bracket either side to give the forks a slightly wider berth then your probably good.

      @RicardoYeep  Před 2 lety +2

      Hello my friend. Thank you for the feedback 👍
      I have been trying to get some useable video footage but in dark it’s not too great. As it does not show as it does in real life. I am trying to sort something and do have recordings albeit poor.
      If you wish to have my verbal opinion say this: I personally would still buy them because they are official kit and plug and play. They do enhance light materially. And they look and are designed well to suit the bike…..BUT for £450 I was a little underwhelmed and did expect greater power. If I were to need more light for nighttime woodland rally’s or off-road at night I would probably consider other options. For £450 I am sure you could get a phenomenal set of Aux/spot lights by other specialist known brands.
      But for most peoples needs they are “adequate”. Albeit a bit too expensive for what they are !
      I would say they are a last resort… headlamp, then main beams, then a little extra added punch is the spot lights…
      Hope that helps a little ? Ohh almost forgot to mention they are wide beam, not focused.. so is only short distance but wide 👍
      Thanks

      No instalé los puños calefactados. Pero conozco a alguien que lo ha hecho y ha encontrado los suyos debajo de los tubos de admisión de aire. Tuvo que quitar el depósito de combustible para encontrarlos. Aunque no creo que esta sea la posición habitual para encontrarlos.
      Usted debe encontrar el conector hacia abajo cerca de la zona del amortiguador de dirección. hay un montón de cables. Uno de ellos es blanco. Este es un tapón blanco, quite el tapón blanco de este conector y usted puede enchufar el arnés de agarre calentado en esto. Con suerte, usted debe encontrar ningún problema

      @@javiermesonerovillalba29 Ah, si no puedes verlo, entonces es posible que tengas el mismo problema que experimentó mi amigo. Depende de cómo el empuje el cableado en la fábrica. Mi amigo tuvo que quitar el tanque de combustible y quitar todo de la misma manera que hice en mi video para la instalación de las luces auxiliares.
      er la foto de abajo. Este es el peor de los casos se encuentra la conexión. Ver el enchufe (blanco) en el centro de la foto tat tiene nada todavía conectado. ¡¡¡¡¡Ahí es donde se encuentra el arnés para la calefacción grip!!!!! ¡Sé que sí loco!

      I have 2018. Unfortunately There’s no tensioner guide on my bike. I use an after market tension guide.

    • @RicardoYeep
      @RicardoYeep  Před 2 lety +1

      Ah I see..I have not looked at the 2018 model. I am sure there should be something in the owners manual? The same prinicple would apply (as with my triumph) basically undo the spindle bolt to loosen wheel. The adjust the chain tension adjusters either side of the bike until the specified slack is achieved at the Midpoint of the lower chain. On my 800XC it was spec to be 30mm movement. I am not sure on your 2018 1290. So would need to find this out. Then torque up the spindle bolt and pinch up the adjuster bolts. then recheck all is good. 15 min job.
      This is what I found but is for 2016. I am assuming it would not be any different. But you would need to check. But shows what I mean.

    • @RicardoYeep
      @RicardoYeep  Před 2 lety

      You have all the tools in the kit under your seat if you have the correct tool pack provided (I hear some have been fobbed off with previous model kits and are not as full) by accident. Anyway all you need extra is a cheap drill, 24mm hole saw, 22mm holesaw bits, and T20 torx... you could probably get all that next to nothing. compared to the astronomical labour costs for this job... even after a 10/15% discount on parts its still a lot.

    Ciao Rick ! Video meraviglioso! Bravissimo! Le uniche cose che non mi piacciono sono gli attacchi in plastica dei faretti perché mi sembra che siano deboli per l’utilizzo offroad della mia R e l’interruttore che non è a portata di mano …. Vero?

      Ciao Grazie amico. Ad essere onesti non credo che tu abbia la possibilità di romperli. Sono abbastanza forti. Simile alla plastica dura dei pannelli che ho dovuto forare, ma ovviamente un pezzo spesso di esso. Penso che si sarebbe prima danneggiare il radar o cerchi ruota prima di rompere uno di questi.
