    Hope the vid was useful to someone.

      Hiya Peter! Many thanks. Always nice to get reassuring comment back thanks you! I can say it is a lovely seat and one I should have purchased at the time I had the bike last year. Very comfortable and looks amazing. A big thing for me too is that it is not a nightmare to remove and install it (unlike the PP rider heated/non heated rider seats... Where I think they have made really sure they don't suffer the same tall setting issues... but as a result so dam hard to take on and off haha).
      Thanks again!

      Hiya Alex. Thanks mate for that! As I said before I am having fun in the workshop and enjoy tinkering on the bike. I have always played around and worked on my own bikes for years. And a mate just said try putting something up on YT for a bit of extra fun and (learn something myself... recording, talking to a camera, editing etc haha if you can call it that.. Its definitely a no frills channel that's for sure haha).... But here we are only 9 months on from my first upload and cannot believe how many peeps have (hopefully) found them useful or at least entertaining. Great to know some have found help from them. and I too have made new friends both on here (virtually) around the world.. And also for real (again by initially meeting on here and later joining up on a ride out).
      It has I think for me anyway become a social "group" and not just a channel where it is all one direction.. Which is a bonus!
      Thanks

      Yes the seats nice and spacious. Probably great on solo riding long haul. Although on a spirited ride like a track day the stock setup is better as it pins you in the position..

    Another great video. Does the seat fell more roomy, space to move further back? I’m loving my 2021 SAS and your vids helped massively.

    • @RicardoYeep
      @RicardoYeep  Před 2 lety +1

      Hiya Will! Thank you anytime mate! Yes the seat definitely slightly larger seating area. Can move around more freely which I guess why these style of seats suit off-roading. Whereas the split seat set up I think is better for performance riding where you want to be pinned into position with your back side kept in place by the pillion seat. Pros a cons … but it’s no R1 so I’m happy with it.. and looks great 👍
      And thank you for the feedback. 🙏

    Ric, would you consider comparing the height if this new seat with the stock oem 2 piece seat in the high position? I also like the looks of the increased room for and aft for the rider. Thanks again for the effort.

    • @RicardoYeep
      @RicardoYeep  Před 2 lety +4

      Hiya Peter using the same method of measurement the ground to seat I see it as 950mm for the stock seat in the tall position (again taken in the centre stand for direct “relative” comparison. My one piece “low” ergo seat is 885mm. So overall there is a seat height difference of 20mm between the stock seat on tall setting and my “low” one piece ergo (which as shown only has one setting). I am guessing if you went for the “tall” one piece ergo then that would probably give you back the 20mm that this “low” one piece loses.
      Hope that helps !

    Wife says I have to stop watching your channel! Apparently, you are costing me money... ;)
    Seats are one of the most difficult topics for me, only surpassed by the topic of tires. I like my seats somewhat hard. I like to feel planted when "hanging off" the seat. I also like the feedback it provides. It`s going to be interesting to see how the stock seat feels over time. Still waiting for delivery :( On my GSA I changed the stock for a Touratech seat that was lower and harder. Really liked it! Please keep your valuable input coming!

    • @RicardoYeep
      @RicardoYeep  Před 2 lety +1

      Haha Trond that’s funny mate! Not the first I’ve heard of similar🤦‍♂️… better put a curfew on the channel for a while lol..
      As for the seat the one piece is still a firm structure. It’s just the top has a little more comfort. Nothing too major. But see how you get on with the stock seat if you like them hard. They most certainly are. And I would struggle on a long trip with one.
      Good luck with the bike! Hope not too long now 👀👍

    hey Ricardo, great video. i'm picking my '22 SAS up next week, adn i was wondering, .. how long is the cable you're using to power your satnav mount? i have the Garmin Zumo 590, and the bundle of cables that comes out of the end of it is a bit of a joke (there's autio in, out, CB in and out, and speakers out... as well as a USB port to plug your IPOD into.. .. but there's a hack that can be done to remove everything but the needed power cable.. but i was wondering how long the actual power part of the cable needed to be.. so i can work out if i need to replace the cable with a simple 2-core, or if i can get away with simply trimming what i've got..
    thanks in advance, and loving the videos.. especially this one, as i'm, actually looking at getting the single piece ergo seat too.

      Ric has done a video on this, but the bottom line- when sitting on the bike, the (2x) power feed is behind right side panel (below indicator stalk), so, not very long.

    • @RicardoYeep
      @RicardoYeep  Před 2 lety

      Hello mate. Congrats on the new purchase! Hope you enjoy it as much as me. It is a right beast. As for the SATNAV question. its a tough one as I installed it last year and don't recall measuring to begin with. I just know I had tons too much power lead from the SATNAV to the bikes ACC2 power source. I would suggest you would be good for no more than a metre. Bearing in mind you may want the excess to hide and route/bend and cable tie up out the way. This too will use up any excess slightly.
      The best thing is just take the panels off and see. And assess in situ with your given cable lengths for your Zumo 590. It does sound a lot of connections that models has lol!!. Overall it no more than 30 mins taking the panels off (for the first time) probably faster after a few times.. I am guessing you saw my satnav install video? Hopefully that should give a good start.
      And thanks for the feedback. Great to hear you find my stuff of use!! :)
      Cheers again

      @RicardoYeep  Před 2 lety

      Hiya chris!! Yeah can’t wait until the better weather myself. Sick of washing the bike down after using it every time 🤦‍♂️
      As for the seat I can’t see much difference between the one price ergo and the power part accessory seats. They are both pretty much the same and just one is in two parts… the only obvious difference is that the rider has more room to move about (as these originally I guess derived from off road where your little in the saddle) and needed to mover around the bike. More spacious for the rider but I think at a little cost to the seat size for the pillion. The pillion seat is a seat designed for a pillion. The one piece I would guess was focused on being designed around the rider 🤷‍♂️
      But your right most important is keep the mrs happy hahaha 🤣
      I’ve got both seats so playtime is the one piece and should I take a pillion I’ll put the heated two piece ones on 👍
      And thanks again for liking the little clips I do … have a couple coming up.. one of which I think is going to cracking or completely the opposite 😂

    Hi Ric, really enjoying your video, any reason why choose the S model over the R?….I have an 890 rally 2021 and in the midst of contemplating trading it for a 1290 R or S…main reason is the lack of wind protection and buffeting on the 890…

    • @RicardoYeep
      @RicardoYeep  Před 2 lety +1

      Hello Dean! Thank you mate and great to see you like the vid. To answer your question I did a detailed video on why I chose the S over the R. As it is a question that has come up quite often given how I use the bike. And a fair question indeed! I think this vid will explain hopefully. (Link below)
      czcams.com/video/f5lljRGTe-4/video.html
      But I agree about wind protection on the small capacity bikes. The big thing is usually I have to cover some distance to get to the off-road events and ride there and back. So the 1290 does excellent as an all rounder. But do check out that link above. Hopefully makes some sense (hopefully haha)
      Thanks

    • @RicardoYeep
      @RicardoYeep  Před 2 lety

      Hello again mate. Great to hear from you again. Hope all is well. As for the seats. I don't really consider weight to be an issue they are all pretty much ball park and nothing to detrimentally affect the bike in the slightest. I think with 140Nm of torque and 160HP choice of seat will be immaterial affect on bike. I am not with the bike at present but would estimate it to be approximately the same give or take. Nothing amazed me about it being light or heavy if that helps!... if there is a slight weight gain then that can be counteracted by going to the toilet first before racing hahaha... :)
      Thanks again and keep safe !

    Hi Ricardo, currently enjoying your vids as a new SAS owner, the ergo seat came with my bike, would you say there's any comfort differences for distance riding with the single piece seat in comparison?

    • @RicardoYeep
      @RicardoYeep  Před rokem

      Hello mate thanks for watching and commenting. Congrats on your new machine :) good choice. To answer your question its a little personal maybe however I will explain this. The single piece ergo allows more room to move around the seat and is possible more comfortable in this aspect. However the cushioning to me is still the same. The powerparts seats are all " slighty " more comorftable then the stock seat.
      The two piece seats are more "planted" I mean when giving it hard throttle your bum pushes into the pillion seat better. You sit in the bike. with the single piece its more like "on the bike" as are enduro.. (but less severe than an enduro) but you get the point I am trying to make?

    hello Ricardo... I hope everything is fine out there... I have a question about the ergo seats... is the low ergo seat really lower than the original standard seat?... in some forum I have read that it is not lower, but narrower at the front and therefore helps the driver to reach the ground with his feet better... what do you think of this?... moreover, somewhere I have read that the ergo standard seat it is a little higher because it is softer and has more foam... thanks and have a nice day from Spain!!!

    • @RicardoYeep
      @RicardoYeep  Před rokem +1

      Hello Manuel. All ok here thanks. Just very busy wtih home stuff so not around as often right now sorry. In answer to your question I agree the low ergo seat is not physically lower. It is cut narrower like you say. So it has the same effect so you can reach the ground easier. As for the thickness. Yes it is very slightly more padded but I dont think there is any real difference with seat hight because the material is softer and will compress making it more comfortable. If the material was same hardness like the stock seat then I agree it would feel taller but it doesnt. I hope that helps! :) And great to hear from Spain!!!! :)

    I have the one-piece low seat as well. It looks beautiful and it is very comfortable. However, it will not lock in place. Do you have a similar problem with positioning it to lock?

    • @RicardoYeep
      @RicardoYeep  Před 2 lety +1

      Hello Senol! Thanks for joining in here. Yes a beautiful seat and very comfortable indeed! I have to say I did not have a problem locking into place. No more of a problem than the stock seat or PP heated rider seat. I have always had a tricky time finding the point that the locking hook meets the lock unit.
      So I would not really class this seat as having a seat lock issue. I think all the seats I have for this bike are generally tricky to get into the correct position is all. Once it is in the correct position. The seat locks faultlessly so all is good and nothing to really worry about.
      My trick is to first line up the front points and clip in the second attach points.... Then Clip on the rear sections over the pillion seat. By default the only space left for the seat to go is the Lock/latch point. Hopefully as all other sections are in place there cannot be much room for error trying to line up the lock with the seat lock. Although I have to say this still does not always work haha. So its just a case of keep at it until it locks :)

      Hello Peter. Thanks for the message mate. I short the main difference I have noticed personally speaking from having the "low" variants of the PP seats and one piece seat. Is that there is more room for manoeuvre in the one piece and seems marginally more comfortable. Maybe a placebo effect but I now run the one piece as standard. Both one piece and two piece PP seats are definitely way more comfortable than stock seats.
      The thing making this hard to reply to is the fact o have the low variants for both so are indeed narrower.
      You are asking I understand about the normal PP seats. Given that they are not the low option I would assume they are both the same width and height. Only difference being more room in the rider areas.
      The two piece definitely pins the rider in better for fast performance riding. Whereas the one piece you can possibly imaging sliding back a little under seriously aggressive acceleration
      Not sure that helps 🤔
      Cheers
      Ric

      Hello
      The single seat is a larger area for the rider . It’s designed for easier moving around on and off the saddle offroad. This is why it is a standard seat for the R version. The two piece seat is better if you have a pillion. The lower part 2 piece seats are a little more comfortable than the stock 2 piece seats. Not too much but a noticeable improvement 👍
      I use my one piece most the time whenever I don’t have a pillion. However if I intend to carry a pillion I will simply swap seats
      Hope that helps! 🙏

    Hi Ricardo. I've bought the high heated Powerparts seat (rider+pillion). It is more comfortable than the OEM "concrete" seat, but I think it should be even more. I'm wondering if the high ergo seat could be better in comfort, both for rider and specially for the pillion, specially in long distances (more than 500km per day). Can you share you thoughts about this? Thanks.

    • @RicardoYeep
      @RicardoYeep  Před 2 lety +1

      Hello Pedro! Cheers for the message. Personally I would say don’t wast your money on further power parts seats if you are searching for more comfort. The one piece ergo is the same level of added comfort as the power part riders and pillion Seat in respect of how the material is padded. It is no thicker. Both seats are an improvement over stock seats but are pretty much equal to each other. The only main difference I would say is that the one piece ergo would probably give the rider more room to move around and so slightly more spacious. If that helps with comfort then that’s a positive. But it is not cushioning as you are wanting. Also there is a negative for the passenger on a one piece ergo. As you may see the one piece ergo give the rider more room at the cost of the pillion having slightly less seat. Personally if I am carrying a pillion I would always use the pillion seat as that is specifically what it was designed for. The ergo is mainly derived from an off-road heritage where the rider generally needs to be able to move around more freely.
      If you are really struggling still with comfort after owning the pp seats then the only option is to try a seat specialist to make some customisations (at a cost of course).
      Sorry if not the solution you were hoping for. But is just my own opinion as I own all three variants of Seat, stock, pp rider and pillion and pp one piece ergo
      Thank again

      Hiya Adrian. Any of the listed “low” seats will have the effect of being lower than the stock. If I want to get the one piece same height has my stock in low I can get the standard one piece ergo ? It is the same height. I can also get the one piece ergo low and it is not really lower it is just cut in a way that it is easier to touch the ground. Correct? So if I want to keep the same height has the stock seat in lower position I can get the standard one piece ergo.

    • @RicardoYeep
      @RicardoYeep  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hiya bud.. nope sorry not right.
      A one piece standard seat = a standard seat heat in one piece…
      The OEM seats fortunately have two settings = standard and low
      The one piece seats are one setting only. Hence you choose to buy a one piece seat in a) low b) standard c) high
      So if you like your standard seat on low setting. This means you probably should go for a one piece low seat
      Your reach will be a slight. It easier on the low seat options. As the cut is very marginally narrower cut but that’s about it.

      Hello mate! The power parts seats from the catalogue are all more comfortable than the standard seat. The only difference to me is that you can move around easily in the one piece ergo. The two piece seats pin you into position like a race bike. The pillion seat creates a ridge that stops you sliding back under hard acceleration. Whereas the one piece has a more subtle shallower ridge. That’s pretty much it. Softness they are about the same to be fair 👍. But definitely better than the concrete stock seat 😆
