One of the best in her career, isn’t it?
5.7 is too low
This was well-skated technically, but there is almost no attempt at presenting a program. Michelle Kwan had the best program in terms of choreography and music that I think we’ve ever had and Lipinski had a wonderfully joyful and well-constructed program by Sandra Bezic that highlighted her strength and natural musicality. This just can’t compare to either on the second mark.
She most certainly would have helped Michelle out, for her to win, if Tara Lipinski had been third in the free skate.
did she win!
I don't think she can win after being in 6th place after the short program.
Mathematically, she would need the top 3 skaters to finish below 4th with the highest ranked skater finishing no higher than 5th.
@@TheWayWithKhuwayne yup which is less likely to happen. Since Tara would maintain her position being in the lead after the short program & Michelle would move up from 4th place entering the free skate. The best she could of done was to get the bronze but the judges ranked her in 4th overall.
@@crazyasianman07 I have never seen a switch-a-roo where the top 3 skaters from the short program all drop to 4th, 5th and 6th & those opposite to them win the medals.
It would have been more intriguing to see how the other two skaters in 4th & 5th if they skated completely clean.
@@TheWayWithKhuwayne the top 3 skaters would of had to skate their worst & fall on every jump. That’s probably the only time that possibility could happen while the ones ranked below them after the short program skated cleanly with no mistakes.
Energetic skating! Better than Kwan
Technically far superior to Lipinski (jump quality, spins, speed and transitions), but her artistry is almost non existent here. The music is also too heavy and ponderous.
+Tristan Ferguson LOL
@@rolandgreen7484 Agreed, but Lipinski (and her team) made a hell of a lot more effort than this. I say this as someone who overall prefers Irina to Tara btw.
@@rolandgreen7484 Tara was fun to watch and skated with joy - why is that not considered artistry? Irina does neither. Her posture is atrocious. You must be a Tara hater - nothing like being hugely successful to bring out the haters.
@@rolandgreen7484 Tara had a short career because she accomplished EVERYTHING she wanted to accomplish in that time frame. She also won every profession competition she entered. She'll always be the youngest Olympic Champion (in skating) and she did it with enthusiasm and joy, which is actually pretty rare. Yuna Kim is a beautiful skater best known for her lack of gratitude to the coach who is at least partly responsible for her Olympic victory.
That dress is hideous. And the Music too dramatic
Dreadful skater to watch. Absolutely terrible posture. No connection to her music. Stiff landings with no flow out of her jumps. Whenever they would announce her as the European champion, I would wonder how awful her competition was if she is the one that came out victorious.
Nothing about her is superior to Tara Lipinski.
@@rolandgreen7484 Hardly - and she's unbelieveably awkward.
