Yokoya should have won the bronze at this event. She had 2 clean programs, in the short she was underscored to be placed 5th behind Kwan's 4th when Kwan had a fall, then again in the long to be placed 4th behind Chouinard's shaky skate with lots of mistakes and only 3 triples. 4th in the short and 3rd in the long would have given her the bronze.

She placed 2nd behind Michelle Kwan, won the event. Josee Chouinard came in 3rd and Chen Lu placed 4th.
